  1. Pop over to Ebay and look for a Motorola SNN5588B battery... or search for a Motorola T720 battery. Here is one to get you started: http://cgi.ebay.com/2-OEM-BATTERY-FOR-MOTO...1QQcmdZViewItem I picked up 2 of these batteries for a couple bucks and they work fantastic. Much MUCH better battery life vs AAA's.
  2. Just a followup to this... I wasn't able to find any batteries at the London Princess Auto store, so I checked a few phone/cellular store. On average they wanted about $50 to order me in a battery. Forget that. So off to Ebay I went, and picked up 2 batteries for $0.99, plus $6 shipping to Canada. I received them yesterday and they work great. Highly recommended to anyone that is tired of swapping out AAA's all the time!
  3. I ended up buying just the Ontario topo map from the Magellan website. Considering 99.9% of my caching will be done in Ontario, the $50 download price was a little more appealing to me than $100+ for the full version. Plus the current exchange rate on the USD makes things a little easier too! Thanks for the tip about the battery, I'm going to be checking the nearby Princess Auto and other surplus places for one of those....
  4. Which software is it? I'm looking for Topo Canada....
  5. I don't know why people keep referring to the LE as, "Not the full 500 model." There is no difference, and most of the LE's come with the Li-Ion battery or have the coupon for the battery. The CT sale is a tremendous deal. Got me one yesterday. Other than the *very* sparse basemap it seems like a real nice unit. Quite compact!
  6. Thanks for the help folks. I was able to get the .exe updater and successfully installed it on my unit.
  7. Hi guys, I just picked up an Explorist 500 today and I'm looking at upgrading to the 2.57EU firmware. I just want to clarify one thing... is the proper upgrade procedure just to drag the USB0002.DAT & .CMD files to the unit? Or is there an actual updater program that I should be using. Any tips appreciated!
  8. Just to throw in my $0.02... I recently flew SkyService from Toronto to Orlando and back, and had no problems at all. Flight attendants didn't even look at me twice. My girlfriend said "Oh, you are such a geek!!" when I threw it in my carryon, but thought it was pretty neat once we were in the air. I did have to pretty much keep it at the window to get a signal lock but it worked great otherwise. I find it definately breaks up the trip when you can check and see where you are... not to mention if you see something on the ground and you are wondering where you are and what it might be...
