  3. Whew. was trying to get antique gold one but internet decided to take that second to crash. by the time i got it back up and went to check out, sold out. dang. ooo only 1 type left for sale. managed to grab it. Awesome!
  4. well i guess it's time to acknowledge the fact that this obsession of mine is gonna cost me my house. can't wait for tomorrow!
  5. I'm glad more people do this. I did the same thing once, put a coin in my pocket (it was a tiny thing) and by the time i got home it was nowhere to be found. I felt horrible and emailed the owner. They were completely fine with it and were extremely understanding. However I just couldn't let it go, so I finally got them to agree to accept one of my unactivated coins. I sent the tracking number to them, got them to activate it and they told me just to place it in a cache with hopes it would make it back to them. unfortunately the first person to grab it kept it. the irony of this, if not so annoying to me may actually be funny. talk with the owners. sometimes an exact replacement is great but if none can be found a different replacement coin from an unactivated collection can be just as good.
  6. was going to wait until the full sets came available but didn't think my wife would enjoy me doing that especially with the new kid just arrived. so i sat here staring at my computer debating for the last hour... yggdrasil, asgard or sleipnir... finally (painfully) decided on asgard! can't wait!
  7. wow this looks super awesome! i'm so excited for this. I don't care what version I get but I will definitely be trying to get one. Great design!
  8. this just happened to me yesterday. I was adding pictures of my coins which the file name had been the tracking number and I had accidentally forgot to add a caption. well when you do this, the captions become the file names. I started getting discovers right away. not knowing how people were getting my tracking numbers, it took a second to realize what I had done and to fix it. did I delete the virtual log? no. I really couldn't care less over a couple logs. I have one trackable that is attached to a car door. I thought it was a neat idea when the original owner asked me to add to it. however this thing only travels to megas. I get hundreds of emails telling me someone has discovered it every year and they mostly come in over a single day or two. now if I had a trackable that the code was on facebook, yes I can see and understand the annoyance of your mail getting bogged. but all I did was make an email filter so I don't get any notifications for that particular travelbug. as for virtual logs I don't see any problem in it whatsoever. if people want to increase their icon collection who am I to say this is not the way to play this hobby? especially when it's usually my mix up that causes the virtual logs. I say let it be and if the emails are to much just filter it so it's out of sight out of mind.
  9. 1st - I've said it before. the intentions for challenges are good (see hiking the snoqualmie trail or visiting mount rushmore) but people abuse it and come up with ridiculous ideas (see kiss a frog or "take a picture of you pushing the street crossing button). so i'm not completely against challenges just against the dumb ones. i've done 6 and most of them were at the block party where they were done reasonably well. 2nd - i love the idea of milestones. almost each of the 100's milestones that i've completed mean something to me, the peak being my 500th being one of the best caches i've done. i'm coming up to 1000 here and the cache i have planned for it is going to be epic. as far as i can tell people have spent months solving this thing and i will stop caching for months to get this as my find. all i want to know is on my profile it says i've found 914 caches completed 6 challenges. but in my geocaches tab it says i've found 920. when i get close, will my 1000th milestone be my 994th find (remembering i have done 6 challenges) or can i go to 999 before i start looking for this puzzle? any help will be appreciated
  10. No matter how good the intentions of challenges are, people are notoriously dumb and abuse it. i didn't like the fact that they increased your find count but i think an update just happened and they are now separate. you have xxxx finds and have completed xx challenges. that i like. ever since i started geocaching i've enjoyed the idea of milestones. i hate the idea that my 1000 has the possibility to be some rediculous challenge. now don't get me wrong some challenges have merit. hike the snoqualmie pass and see the location of the old ape cache, visit mount rushmore. but seriously, kiss a frog? or "take a photo of yourself pressing the button to cross 50th avenue"? keep them separate or simply don't increase the count like benchmarks.
