  1. If the date can be set the 1st of September that would be great!!! Our time is getting so limited before we move to Australia now
  2. This sounds a great idea. The only problem is we only have two dates available and they are Saturday 25th August and Saturday 1st September?
  3. We used a program called S-Tools I think for one of these types of caches once but it looks like it's unavailable nowadays? I remember also having some success with JpegX or Stegspy which might do the trick?
  4. We are trying to organise an event at the moment. As time is limited for us leaving soon we are hoping for it to be the weekend 13/14 October. There should be 2 events to attend and will look at camping as an option (but we won't have a tent by then!!!)
  5. We did a cache in Florida a couple of years ago that had a full packet of antihistamine tablets in (we swiftly removed them!). However, the worst thing that we ever came across in a cache was left by irresponsible muggles (no prizes for guessing what!). Unfortunately the cache had to be archived because of it, which was a shame, as it was a lovely multi.
  6. Didn't you know we have special icons down here in the South West?! (Anchors, pirate flags, tractors etc. ) No really, those waypoint codes look like the additional parking coords etc. Not sure why they've got different icons though?
  7. I think the best quality ones are at the bottom of this page?: http://www.geocaching.com/about/logousage.aspx
  8. markandlynn's bookmark list here might help?
  9. Whenever we've uploaded images it seems that if we don't resize them first they are automatically reduced to a teeny weeny resolution (600 pixels width). Example 1 We've found that if we reduce the picture to 800 pixels wide first we get the best resolution allowed. Example 2 If the picture is a "portrait" image then you get the best quality as it seems it's only the width resolution and not the height that is restricted. Example 3 And yes, the latter pic was kind of geocaching related! Did a gig with him last week in London (quite ironic considering our plans!) and bagged a few caches very nearby whilst there.......sport!
  10. We fly on the 5th November....out with a bang lol!!!! WE must try and organise a leaving event to catch up with all the lovely friends we have made through Geocaching. You all know who you are and we will miss you all very much
  11. Thanks for the link Liane. I have managed to do 2 adoptions of our caches just now and it is just the rest to go!!! Thanks from Mrs H
  12. WELL DONE!!! And here's the night before pic!...
  13. How about this one then!? The morning after... Oh...and we have a great one of the night before too!
  14. I reckon it's Place de la Concorde with the Hotel Crillon / French Navy HQ in the background?
  15. A big well done from us We hope to be able to catch up with you both very soon
  16. Cool! About time we had a look in down 'ere! Good fun trying to work out the age of the images! Must be a few years old though as we have what looks like a beach tent in the garden? Nowadays if the sun's out wouldn't dream of having a day in! Also noticed it's the old shape Exeter high street and the Blue Ball at Sidford hasn't burned down yet!
  17. Just installed the script - brilliant!!! Thanks Edgemaster!
  18. G'Day Old Sod! Only 47 - looks like you had a hard paper round judging by your profile! Thought we'd reply especially as we'll be living in Sydney from November, and can't wait to go caching in the Blue Mountains! Over here, we tend to use Ordnance Survey maps, which can be purchased from many bookshops, outdoor stores, or some local newsagents such as WHSmiths. They come as either 1:25000 (Explorer series) or 1:50000 (Landranger series) and should be the latest versions. Personally I find 1:50000 clearer for general map reading. You can also access Ordance Survey maps on line here and use the "get-a-map" feature. For plotting caches on paper maps you'll need to use British National Grid, which is stated on the cache pages underneath the co-ordinates. However, if it's digital mapping you're after for a PDA etc., there are several programs around that are based on Ordnance Survey maps, perhaps the most popular being Memory Map (which I'm sure someone could lend to you during your stay if you wanted). For your GPS, the datum should be set to WGS84 when using lat/long co-ordinates. When using British National Grid (OS Grid) format on a GPS the datum should be set to OSGB, but I'd suggest only using OS Grid for plotting caches on the map. Hope this helps?
  19. Oh dear! Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Get well soon! Love, Tammy, Martyn & family
  20. You can also upload pics direct to the site using http://www.geocaching.com/my/upload.aspx without them having to be part of a specific log. That way you can use the images separately for your profile / cache page's html etc.
  21. We very recently spent a few days camping at Bo-Peep Caravan Park (tents allowed by the way) just south of Banbury. It was very friendly, clean, and has free internet access which may come in handy judging by how many caches there are nearby that'll need logging! The ones along the nearby canal make lovely walks and aren't too strenuous either as the terrain is easy going. Highly recommended!
