  1. This is last minute, but are there are any campgrounds in the area? Looking for a place to sleep via my car and a campground might be nice. At least to have a fire to cozy up to for a bit before sleep time.
  2. A perfect snowshoe intro hike. We did this last year and had a blast. I'll be skipping this since I've done the hike and the other hike going on up north is something I haven't done and seems interesting. I'd suggest anyone thinking about snowshoeing to head up for this. It's a ton of fun, VERY easy and you will leave wanting more. I'd suggest Sports Authority for snowshoe rentals. $10 includes the shoes and poles. Just got my girlfriend and I a set this evening! Enjoy all!
  3. The girlfriend and I will be meeting up with maggie in port orchard, carpooling from there to B&N. At that point, we can figure out how to get us all to the snow. We can pitch in for gas, snuggle up, ride on roof racks, whatever it takes. See y'all in the morning!
  4. I'll call the girlfriend when I'm off work to get a yay or nay. I'll report back around 630pm
  5. The girlfriend and I talked about this and decided neither of our cars could easily make the conditions that are probably up on those forest roads. Maybe next time
  6. Thinking I might just head up north for this. Will be keeping an eye on the weather as well since there is going to be a couple of options for this day..
  7. I'm a maybe at this point, keep us updated for sure, looking forward to getting out even more than I did in 2010!
  8. dadgum, I missed this, would totally have made the drive, shoot
  9. A friend of mine posted about this via facebook a couple days ago, sounds fun!
  10. Are we talking 5 star terrain here or what? Ring of Fire, Waiting for Ironman, Vista house(easy walking, amazing view in the area) and the ape caves all come to mind. All of those are past Olympia, but what I think geocaching is all about..
  11. Saw a green truck in downtown Olympia today. Tried to catch up to it, but no luck. Had a geocaching logo sticker in the lower right corner of the back window along with a couple of other stickers as well.
  12. no caching resolution really. In general though, see more of the state, learn more about it, take more pictures, lose weight, party more often, love more, hate less, get scared more and grow a better beard than I did in 2010!
  13. Google seemed to offer up quite a few. $29.95 want to post a link? The only gnomad that ever comes up is the girl one, which is far less than $30
  14. Would like to turn one of these into a travel bug, but am having the toughest time tracking one down. I see there is someone selling the chick one on Amazon, but that's the only one I don't want, just not a fan. So if you have one of these guys sitting around collecting dust, please get in touch. Any past one would go to a fellow geocacher who loves caching and gnomes, so I'm sure she would be doing something similar with hers. PS I wasn't sure where to put this thread. If it needs to be placed elsewhere, feel free to move it. Thanks!
  15. Think I got it figured out now. Not sure if it was there before or not, but it does say full version now. Cool!
  16. I actually dislike it and would prefer an option to see the standard version. . As often as I've seen variations on "I hate the new web site, please change it back" it's not very common to have multiple versions of a web site, especially when there may be some underlying dependencies (like a database) that won't work with both versions. So far I like what I've seen for the new forums site. I dint mind the new forums, but the mobile version is buggy and hard to use and there is no way, that I can see, to switch to the standard, web, version.
  17. I actually dislike it and would prefer an option to see the standard version. My iPhone is capable of seeing full HTML sites, I'll take advantage of that instead of seeing dumbed down versions. Also, ive had to re submitt login info each time I come to the site from my phone, haven't tried via PC yet...
  18. I found better prices at sports authority, especially since I wasn't a member last year. I think we paid $15 for shoes and poles and we rented the day beforehand, used them and then returned them the following day, so we had them for three days. Call both if you have access to both.
  19. How do y'all feel about the http://www.geocaching.com/expedia/ trackables going out. Has this been discussed? I did a search and didn't come up with much. Any idea what they look like?
  20. no golden tickets for my two. Thanks for getting these out so quick!
  21. I could possibly do the 18th, but like hydnsek mentioned, it is the week before xmas, so maybe I shouldn't even mention it being a possibility, darnit! Guess there better be some snow in Jan!
  22. oh man, hoping for some luck. The pink yime is amazing enough, but a yimey rose too, oh wow, fingers crossed
  23. I'm not giving up entirely, it's just a frustrating experience. My waymark that I submitted three weeks ago was just approved last night. It's tough to add pictures, use the forums, etc. I dunno, I've found some cool local spots that I might otherwise overlook, even with geocaching, but overall, just not a user friendly experience in my opinion...
