  1. Yes, that is the name of the town in the movie, though not where it was filmed. Many of Steven King's novels and stories occur in Maine, with more than a few in the mythical town of Castle Rock (which is now the name of a movie production company).
  2. You could probably request that your reviewer not release any until they are all reviewed. It seems a reasonable request. I would email him/her and discuss it in advance. As far as SHOULD you do it, it does not seem to me to make any difference once way or another unless they are all placed near each other (ie a power trail).
  3. Me neither and this cache seems to be a poster child for the rule against vacation caches, regardless of its age. It is no doubt a poster child. I will be saddened when it gets archived though (and I have no doubt that the recent arguing in the logs of the cache will only hasten its doom). Perhaps I am to blame for replacing the container last year and prolonging it, but I am glad I did.
  4. 1. I have not encountered this phenomenon 2. I do not know what a bush hide is. 3. Why the "drama" frog?
  5. On topic. Sure, I made dumb jokes about L33t cahces, but I really did just make my new cache a PMO. Why? - Because I didnt on my others and I want to see if it is really any different - Because I do want to let the more dedicated cachers have a chance at it. - Because of the "audit log" function, where I can see who has looked at my cache page and how often. Now I am trying to guess who might make the first attempt at getting it. I will not leave it as a PMO for long though. It depends on how long before it gets FTF'd.
  6. Might have been an automotive GPS. I never leave it in the car when at the shopping mall. I put it in my pocket or my wife's purse.
  7. Methinks that the OP is a puppet of some sort and that NNJHXC is an acronym for something. Northern New Jersey Hike X-Country maybe???
  8. It's really unfair to just immediately assume the OP is a dog and imply that she's just writing her post in the 3rd person as the owner for cover on the forums. If the OP is actually a geocaching dog then he/she would be eligible to become a official cache reviewer.
  9. May I ask why you need permission to use the web address? Web addresses are public, almost anyone can access them, I just don't get it. That's like saying you need permission to, say, wear a Coca Cola shirt, am I right? I get what your trying to say but your analogy of off. While you don't need permission to wear a coca cola shirt the maker of the shirt had to get permission to print the shirt. You wouldn't be able to print your own shirt with the coca cola logo on it. It is trademarked and you can get sued for it. Not so much if its an small numbers and for personal use. But if you try to sell it you'll run into legal issues and coke will want the overly large portion of the sale. I don't see the reason behind protecting the web address either. Not the address, links to the address. If you use the logo online, it needs to link through to the homepage. That said, if you use the logo in a cache description page, or in a forum post, without the link, the might not care. If you use the logo and have it link through to opencaching, the legal dept might have an issue.
  10. Wooden nickels are much easier to make yourself and cheaper too. You can buy blank nickles by the dozen for a few bucks at arts-n-crafts stores. Print your logo on paper (backwards), lay the paper on the nickle face down, then use some sort of solvent (I forget the chemical name, I use goof-off) on a rag to rub the paper. The logo bleeds onto the wood. There are much more comprehensive instructions around here somewhere. I will look for them.
  11. I have a Galaxy S (Samsung Vibrant). Its almost as accurate as my Magellan Explorist. I've found plenty with it. Problem with it, and I suppose all phones, is battery life. It runs down fast with the GPS on. Oh, and they arent really rugged.
  12. I've found the customer support line at Magellan to be exceptionally helpful with fixing problems.
  13. So I could just run a PQ on the Alien Power Trail, put my name on it and be a cinch for getting a new GPS. Kewl ! No, the "peer reviewers" are actually pretty good about catching people trying to upload other people's hides. That is after they came up with the peer reviewer system on the fly after a few weeks, after people said "what, you don't have a review system"? I thought it was supposed to be "Open" caching. Now they are getting all judgemental?

  15. I saw cougars near this one in South Jersey GC1Y2WW I was safe because they like younger prey.
  16. That looks really cool. Let us know how it goes.
  17. That is the end result problem. If they are your caches, I would delete his logs and note exactly why.
  18. Yep, some still climb the hard way, with spikes strapped on their legs. Think of poles running along the back property lines behind homes. I've seen the Comcast guys climbing those.
  19. Read back to your last post before my initial post: I was replying to your question about how one deals with theft after identifying the thief. I realize that your question had nothing to do with "Premium Member Only caches are elitist" either, but somehow the question you asked was too good to resist at the time, since I identified a thief and told you what I did about it. Is there something that I should have done differently in answering your question so that we wouldn't be having this OT discussion? I apologize if your question wasn't directed at me. Thought this was an open thread and anyone could talk about things of a geocaching nature being stolen. SO WHAT WAS YOUR QUESTION? My post asking how they dealt with the person they had identified as the thief was directly on topic, having to do with the audit log, which is one of the primary reasons for making a cache PMO. Your reply was a complaint about Groundspeak not taking action against your purported TB thief. That's why I did it. I wanna see who's scoping out my L33t cache.
  20. All kayaks are boats. Not all boats are kayaks, though. Ditto for canoes. Lol, true. But not all boats can get to all "boats required" caches. Tru dat. I like at least 24 inches of water under my jet intakes, though if I am sure it is just mud on the bottom I can go as low as 12. If there are rock around, I will anchor nearby and jump in and swim to it. Not worth scratching the gelcoat.
  21. The fact that they all carry machetes and seem to just appear out of now where as you walk down a wooded path can be disconcerting to say the least.
