I just got this email from a 'no reply' address: Log Date: 7/26/2004 Greetings from Geocaching.com ""It looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time. While we feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or let it remain archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if you haven't done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible. "" This Cache (Gorley Hill GC4467) has been out for a while and some have found it while others have had trouble. When I checked the cache page, I found it had been archived! I haven't checked it since December, but I have no reason to think that it has been damaged or scattered into 'remaining bits'. Anyway, what's going on? I've not been as active as I once was, but this was news to me. I have five other hard to get to, seldom visited caches, will these all be archived? Why would anyone from Geocaching.com send me an email from a 'no reply address? Any insight on this would be a help, Bluespreacher

I have always enjoyed the quiet and green in cemeteries. I've spent many a pleasant hour walking and photographing. When I started caching, I thought of a particular spot in a local famous cemetery. While scouting it out, I was stopped by an 'official'. I was surprised when he offered me a map of all the famous graves. It seems that it is quite the tourist spot! I ended up with a virt that has been very popular. It's a quick grab at a very special place. All that said, If you're uncomfortable seeking for such, don't. If you're thinking of hiding a cache in a cemetery, use more than the usual discretion. Spend some time observing what goes on during a regular day. If in doubt, 'hide' a virt, but only if that won't cause undue disturbance. Keep on Caching, Bluespreacher

I voted "no". It's just gonna be grief, or maybe jail time, who knows? I made the mistake once of posting a question to the pro-gun thread on these forums. My question was, "why". I think your experience answers it. No, seriously. You know her better than I do. Your picture of her is fairly bleak, but, she did keep trying (sort of). The deer had eaten everything in the place (or very nearly). They had become, because of their sheer numbers, an enviromental disaster. Since then, the park, and others, has been opened to hunting pressure. Several hundred deer have been killed in that one park alone. We can't do that with people, though, so when the use gets too high in an area, certain regulations and practices become neccessary. I've seen popular caches near population centers where seekers have made a real mess. Too many people. On the other hand there are caches in more remote locations that only get a dozen finds in a year. I don't think there's a lot a seeker could do (short of starting a fire) that would be noticable to the next cacher. There just isn't that much traffic. As far as the poll goes, I had a hard time picking between the last two. But I know Criminal to be a stand-up guy, so I went with sleep-deprived.
