  1. Good thinking! I forgot about the Wiki one. I will go check now ETA, yes theere is a wiki entry, I have re submitted it. Thank you
  2. Hi I have this folly waymarked, it is on the Castletown Estate in Ireland. I have tried it in odd shaped buildings but quite rightly one of the officers has asked me to clarify if it is a building, and it isn't really. It is not a freestanding arch and neither is it a castle. Any suggestions gratefully received.
  3. What a great way of doing it! My partner loves to take pictures when we are out walking and caching, we also love to look round churches, so I then waymark by going through the photos and Waymarking as I go. I never thought of printing a list and using that as reference too. Mind if I borrow your idea? As for living in the middle of the ocean, are you sure you are not a mermaid
  4. Just the one for me, mine is UK Post Offices I can help out if anyone needs an officer though
  5. The other thing is, unless you confined it just to the US, you would be inundated. My local churchyard has loads of graves over 200 years old, and that doesn't include the grave markers in the church itself. As a side note, there are local history organisations here in the UK that document every grave inscription in churchyards/cemeteries. Maybe they do that in the US too....
  6. I have just started Waymarking again, I forgot how much I enjoy posting them! Hi again all
  7. This is from last weekend when we did GC171 View from Coombe Hill plus another couple in the area. Blimey it was blowy up there!
  8. By rights I should edit it to include Cemeteries. The best person to initially contact would be the Manager of the Cemetery. If that person felt a need to refer it to someone more senior within the council, then he/she would be in the ideal position to do so. Caches in Church yards, being placed by the Reverend/Priest/Church Warden have become popular. And even Cemetery Managers seem happy with appropriately placed caches. On thing that seems a common theme, is that they welcome respectful visitors. As this discourages antisocial behaviour. Deci Can I just add something to all of this. In all the advice it sometimes says to ask the Parish Council for permission to put a cache on church property, this is not strictly correct. The Parish Council does not actually hold any jurisdiction over the church property and grounds, that right is held by the PCC (Parochial Church Council, which is a different entity entirely. Asking the vicar is fine (C of E) as he is usually the chair of the PCC, however your best bet would be to ask one of the ChurchWardens (names in local news letters or on the notice board in the church). I don't mean to go against any advice already given, but as treasurer of my PCC, we would be really annoyed if the Parish Council gave permission for a cache and did not refer the questioner to us. We would almost certainly agree anyway as it brings more people to visit the church.
  9. I understand about the not discussing them thing now. I will ask the mods to remove this thread. Thanks all
  10. I have had this log posted on this cache today. Has anyone heard of it before? Can we get this person banned from the site or something?

  16. Hi all, I have stopped receiving emails when our cache has been found or when ones I am watching are found. Please can you tell me what I need to do to make this happen agaon? Thanks Nicky
  17. We have 100 finds and we had this one published today. It is a small one down a pretty path. We are chuffed to bits that it has been found already. We are already planning our next one we are going to try and hide ones that our daughter could find as she loves doing this.
  18. We had the most amazing day yesterday, we were out caching at the top of Whiteleaf Cross in Buckinghamshire. It is a chalk cross that has been cut into the side of the hill. No one knows why, it just has. It is at the top of a big hill, and when you sit at the top, you get the most amazing views. Anyway, we were sat at the top drinking in the view, when a gentleman said that we should stick around because a Spitfire would be doing a flypast later. Now I have never seen a Spitfire fly live before. I have seen them in museums and on the TV but never in person. Well, we were sat when suddenly this almighty roar came from the back of us as the plane swooped down over the crest of of the hill into the valley. It was the most amazing sound I have ever heard. the plane flew a display that must have lasted about 10 minutes, it did loops and dives and climbs and it was truly breathtaking, K just kept saying ‘This is so cool’. Some of the people who were up on the hill explained that there are only about 40 Spitfires worldwide that are still flying so we feel very privileged to have seen this. Unfortunately, we only had my little camera and Al’s phone, so here are a few pictures but they really do not capture how brilliant it was, the sound is indescribable.
