  1. I have just had a few moments to look over it and I guess I just don't get it. It seems like these are just virtual caches and not locationless. Maybe I just haven't looked hard enough but I don't get this.
  2. I just found one the other day where the clue read: Just like Alicia Silverstone this cache is clueless. I was so angry.
  3. And, for the record: Thanks to a couple of fabulous examples of humanity, going into a children's playground without a child (especially an adult male geocacher, doing "suspicious things") could definitely earn you a trip to the police station, at the very least. It's a misdemeanor here, not just a ticket and a slap on the hand. It ranks up with discharging a firearm in a park, possession of alcohol, and loitiering in the park between midnight and 5 a.m. -- the only other park offenses not considered "infractions." Doesn't that frost you? I don't know if other places have similar laws, but they very well might. Wow, post number 2. I'm out of control. You have got to be kidding me. That has to be unconstitutional. If my tax dollars pay for the park I should be allowed to be there. No offence but I hate California.

I can't see how to find other members shared bookmark lists? Can this be done without getting it sent directly from the members? I looked through old topics but didn't find one.
  5. Ever since I upgraded my firmware and loaded form new maps I have to re initialize my GPSr everytime I want to use it. All of my satalite icons dissapear and it takes at least 15 minutes to get a lock. Has anyone else noticed this and do you have a solution?
  6. I couldn't agree more, I am already getting tired of the hollowed out tree or the pile of sticks. I have seen some very clever hides that keep me going but I would like to see more fake rocks, and clever hides. I am on the other hand one of those people who avoid puzzle caches simply because I don't want to sit forever and crack a code, but I have seen a few puzzles that are really nice.
  7. I don't think the sigh was required, if it was directed at me. I have never seen the listings for how people did it so I didn't know it was done.
  8. Ok so what are the rules to qualify? did they stay together? Or were they going different directions?
  9. No, we don't. You have confused "wants", "needs", and the guidelines. There is no requirement to meddle in somebody eles's cache. Some people (who, me?) might enjoy the additional challenge of bagging a cache like that. It is this caviler attitude that is getting caching kicked out of parks all over the country. I am all about doing something challenging but if we start breaking rules then caching will be against the rules. I for one would rather keep the game healthy and happy. But maybe that is just me. Good! Most of them are crap caches anyway. Seriously though, this has come up many times over the years, somebody comes in and complains about a cache they think should be archived. After the dust settles and the full details come out, we learn they just didn't know the proper approach to the cache. One was a b1tch about how the finder had to park along a busy freeway to get to the cache. Everybody was screaming to get the cache archived until the hider chimed in and told the way to approach the cache was NOT from the freeway. Part of the challenge of the cache was figuring out how to get to it. Common sense is still the best guideline. My advise stands, mind your own business. "The game" doesn't need a village. But your example doesn't fit. If the area is hard to get to, ok that is a challenge. If it is off limits or forbidden that is another. I have emailed the owner and if he said no I cheked everything is cool then I would let it go, but I have gotten no response.

  11. I went to a cache a month or so ago only to discover that the section of the park containing the cache was under construction, hard hat only area etc. I posted a note in the log and emailed the owner with no response on either. So today I saw that a few people have logged finds on it so for lunch a buddy and I head over to find it thinking the construction was over, only to discover it isn't. It is still in a restricted area. Now, with the SC issues and all I think we need to push to police ourselves a bit better so I would like to do something more to keep geocaching from getting a bad name but I don't know if I am just over reacting or not. What do y'all think. Jason
  12. I love finding new places like parks 2 miles from my house I never knew about. I love the hunt I love the shared experience when you take a new person with you.
  13. I have noticed that you can go to map quest in the cache listing and get a map to the coordinates. How can you enter those coordinates into map quest, or any other map page, in order to go from one cache to another? It says you can map through an address but obviously that isn't the case. Any ideas?
  14. I am looking to get into caching for the first time and I was looking at getting a cheap GPS system. I have looked at the Magellin 100 and the Garmin equivalent. Does anyone have any advice? I can't seem to find any reviews.
