  1. We have a list of about 5 or 6 mystery caches that currently have us stumped. There are a few local cachers that are very good at solving and making ciphers, so there are a bunch of caches that require "above average" deciphering skills. We refuse to use PAF to solve the puzzles, so the ones that have us fooled get put on the back burner until they drive us crazy.
  2. Depending on where you are in PA, there is one called "Northern Corner of Berks County" (GC1967B). It's one of 4 stages to get the "4 corners of Berks County" (GC1967D). The Northern Corner is a potential 2 day hike along the Appalachian Trail that will get you a few smiley's along your hike.
  3. It's not uncommon for ppl to find caches and take a day or two (sometimes longer) to log them online. As far as the missing toys w/ no log...I would guess that would mean a muggle came across the cache, or someone that found the cache previously came back to check out the swag (not very common). Your best bet at finding a local is to look at the online log of all your local caches and see what names pop up the most. You can shoot them an email to see if they'd be willing to go on a search w/ you. Also, look for event caches in your area. Local cachers will usually go to event caches to meet each others and discuss their hobby.
  4. I've been questioning a few of the local entries in the area, but this one certainly fits the bill for this post: January 8 by xxxx xxxxxxxxxx (31 found) What I found was a Large yellow storage container no log is that it?
  5. Mid-Atlantic 5/5: http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...2f-376dbea526ec
  6. I always get the "Do you like bacon that much" or "Are you a cop" when ppl see my SN. However, the story goes like this: When I scored my first goal in college (I played ice hockey), the announcer said "MU goal scored by #18, Chad Bacon" mispronouncing my last name. Everyone that knew me thought it was hilarious and called me Bacon from that point on (I was known better as bacon than as Chad). At some point, somebody stole the sign for "Hot Bacon" dressing from the cafeteria and stuck it on my dorm room door. I thought it would be a good SN and have used it for 10 years or so now.
  7. I personally like puzzle games...at times. Anyone can go to a set of coordinates and look for a hollow tree stump, but not as many ppl can break a cipher or do rather complicated calculations to arrive at a final coordinate. When I'm able to find some of the more difficult puzzle caches it gives me a better sense of accomplishment than finding a parking lot micro. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the quick cache and dashes for a lunch break. But when I have time to try to solve a puzzle, the find at the end is even better than a normal find.
  8. Is there a proper way to change a "DNF" to a "Found It" other than simply having two logs?
  9. I'm in Manassas VA for work this week, but don't have my GPS handy. It's going to kill me driving past the exit for this area and not stopping.
  10. I'm heading up to the Potter/Tioga County area next weekend (10/6-10/8) for a little relaxing and hiking w/ some friends. We tried to take them on their first geocache a few years ago, only to be rained out. Rather than just walking through the woods, I figured it would be a good opportunity to try to find a cache. If anyone knows of a good cache in this area (preferably a scavenger hunt type), please let me know. Thanks in advance!!
