There are so many caches in MB, it's crazy! We really enjoyed the ones at Myrtle Beach State Park, Huntington Beach State Park and the old Airforce Base. Of course there are plenty of drive up micros everywhere.

Fire Ants, but they are everywhere. "M" of our team got bit by some type of spider, but I don't know if it was while we were caching or later that day. Thankfully it didn't bother her.

I can't recall ever having anyone ask us what we are doing. Then again with 3 kids, most folks run the opposite direction from us! The kids have decided though to tell people they are looking for bugs, lizards and snakes....which in most cases they really are!

We have never seen that darn smiley on the FFW caches we have done. Great video, really enjoyed it.

Even if this law makes it into the books, how do you enforce it with EXISTING CACHES? What are they going to do, stop and question everyone walking around with a GPS near a cemetary? And even if they did, the answer would be "just checking where I am, Officer", or "finding a gravesite", not "I am geocaching. Please give me a ticket." Even if you got caught redhanded at the cache site, you would just stand up and say "Just removing the cache to comply with the new law", and then take it with you. I doubt the cops have the time and manpower to 'stake out' caches and observe activity. And, as said in other threads, how can you know if you are anywhere NEAR an archeological site, when the states keep them all a secret? It amounts to another unenforceable 'jaywalking' law. There aren't any existing cemetery caches in SC, they were all pulled when the bill first got started last year.

There are 11 caches just on the island. We haven't done any of them, but they sound great. Here is a good starting point: GCVX5T. Have a great visit.

We've left some as FTF's, but have never found any.

We have Verizon with no roaming charges, etc...we get good coverage just about everywhere. The one place we didn't have coverage was over where we had the Cedar Creek Cleanup. And then there are some dead spots in the boon docks. I think that is expected with just about any cell phone.

Holy smokes, that's cool!! Never would have thought an alligator would be there, but then again they have been up this way in Lake Wylie. We've seen the usual's....snakes and deer. The cute little green snakes are our favorite to see, we can catch them! We've seen king snakes and rat snakes. The coolest though was while on vacation in Clearwater, Fl last June, we did the caches at Ft. Desoto State Park. While going to one of the caches we saw fins, yes, I said fins, sticking up out of the water. I thought for sure it was a pair of sharks feeding in the canal area. As we walked closer up popped 2 heads, it was dolphins feeding. That was the coolest ever. At that same cache area we saw an awesome yellow rat snake.

Here in Lancaster County, I just called the Lancaster County Parks & Recreation Deptartment. I explained gecocaching to the person on the phone, asked if we could have blanket permission for all Lancaster County & City Parks and was told yes. I took that persons name and she took my name & number also.

This sounds like so much fun....too bad I'm in SC and 500 miles away! Used to go to Assateague Island every summer as a kid while spending our vacation in OC. Have fun and maybe we'll be able to replicate this cool event in SC one day.
