  1. As Llatnek said, no cemetary caches. I think if you had specific permission from the owner of the cemetary it would be allowed, but most folks have dropped the issue entirely. A lot of counties/cities/towns have given blanket permission for their parks. For example, the county I am in, we have gotten blanket permission for all the county and city parks. We can hide in our state parks, with permission from the rangers. Some have restrictions on where the cache can be located due to historical/archilogical stuff and even due to animals. For example, in my favorite park there is a bald eagle nesting area. That is a no no for hiding anything near it. You won't find as many park n grab, shopping center type caches around. Unless a hider has gotten permission, with a name & number, you don't find too many of those hides. I honestly have to say that because we have to have permission, which everyone is supposed to have according to gc.com's rules, that our quality of caches is much better then a lot of states. I have cached in MD, PA, VA, NC, FL & NC and I can tell you that SC's caches are, for the most part, of a higher quality due to the requirements. We might not have as many hidden in our state, but most are really great hides. Oh yeah, DNR managed land, for now is a no no too. In my area, some of us have been working with DNR to allow hides on their land. What area does your sister live in? There are several groups throughout the state and the SCGA that she can participate in and learn a lot from the other cachers.
  2. You could put it in a cache you have already found. Just remember to log it in.
  3. Try contacting the NCDOT, I would think maybe if you called someone there they could tell you.
  4. This sounds like a lot of fun, unfortunately I don't live in that area. You might want to post this on USCGA. That is the Upstate groups webpage. Also, try contacting tales from the surface, that's the geoname.
  5. Heh. Me, I usually just climb the shelves. My take on it is that if they don't want me doing it, then they ought to provide grabby-sticks (I have NO idea what the correct name for the things is) along with the shopping cats. Grabby sticks would be an excellent idea, but I have never seen then anywhere. Hey, I see you are from Towson. I went to TU when it was still TSU and hubby works for the big power tool company that is headquartered there.
  6. I'm around 5'3" on a good day. There have been plenty of times that I've been out and can't reach a cache. Thankfully someone is usually with me. I've had to lift up the girls to reach before. And if we are lucky, the hubby is with us and he can reach and climb for us. Shoot, I encounter the same problem at the store. I have to lift up a kid to get products off the top shelf if there aren't any in the front.
  7. Living Art is one of our all time favorites. That is such an awesome place to visit.
  8. Our smallest turnout has been 10. Four from my family, 3 from the other person hosting the event and 3 actual attendents. It was fun though, we got to talk a lot more without having to run all over the place. The most we've had is probably 30, give or take.
  9. Yep, we've done the Mission 7 Crab Creek. Did it last fall while visiting family in MD. The kids loved the huge ammo can.
  10. We did a cache locally last weekend and when we came home everyone got a shower. After our showers, myself and 2 of the girls were literally covered in tiny ticks. We only knew they were ticks when they moved. It was horrible. Four others with us didn't have any ticks on them. I think myself and 2 of the girls must have walked through a nest along the way. I didn't sleep that night thinking they were still crawling on me. I itched for days. That was the worst experience ever.
  11. I agree 100% and some. Everyone that knows us, knows all we want to do is cache. It doesn't matter where or when, we just want to cache and have FUN!!
  12. I really enjoy the cemetery caches. We did a great multi virtual in Charlotte called Ol' Cemetery. Most of them are very interesting.
  13. LOL Sue! It is great that you all got a cache over there for our soldiers to enjoy.
  14. Who is "we"? Many people have a "clue" and know who the reviewer is. It just isn't discussed. The reviewer prefers to remain anonymous. Why can't that be respected? As far as unity, yes our smaller groups are very united. Why is that pitiful? I think it is great that we can have smaller groups representing each area of our state. We, the SC cachers, are getting more things accomplished as smaller groups then as a large group. Why is this, you may be wondering??? Because it is very difficult to get every cacher in the state to a centralized location for a large meeting/cito. Do you realize how big our state actually is?? For folks in the upstate to travel to the beach it will take them 5 or 6 hours to get there. Get a clue before posting about our groups and reviewer.
  15. Then you need to get out more and visit these other groups. USCGA has some good things going on but there are so many other cachers to meet and things to see. Come on over. X SCPC What X said.
  16. We'd love to release some of them on the South East coast for you, if you want. Or if anyone else has any they'd like to release on the east coast, let us know, we'd love to help.
  17. You could always try putting it on www.craigslist.org under lost & found for the city/area it was found in.
  18. Cool, we will be there!! This rocks!!
  19. We have done the ones at Ft. Desoto SP and they were all fun. Great caches. We saw dolphins swimming in the cove going to one of the caches and then saw a yellow rat snake while leaving the same cache. I highly recommend those if you have the time to go there and do them.
  20. Here are 2 that look to be pretty close to the ampitheater: GCV25C and GCN5YY
  21. Darn, we went away for a few days and I thought for sure we'd come home and have the jeep. No such luck. Anyone in SC get one yet?
  22. I would post this on the SCGA forums also. Maybe Sissy & CR or Brett & Citty could adopt them, since I know they both live in the Charleston area.
  23. Well heck, I didn't even get to see what it looked like. We have done their Pirates series and it is awesome. It is on our list our one of our favorites.
  24. Congrats Team Thorny on your new little cacher
  25. I like it and would buy some of them. That is really cute. And yes, I'd enter it in a contest.
