  1. Hello, I was wondering if there are any files, available for downloading, to help plot your progress on the Indiana Delorme challenge. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe even grids for state maps. DutchBoy
  2. Thanks.....I do have the one option, but I like the coins and pins design better.....I might call them to see what the status is. I would like for it to be trackable. DutchBoy
  3. Hello, I am looking for a 100 finds geocaching achievement coin to give a friend on his 100th find. I can not find any listed anymore on the usual sites. Can anyone help me. DutchBoy
  4. I frequent the Drudge Report and today I saw the following headline: Virulent New Strain of TB Raising Fears of Pandemic; Bug Is Resistant to Most Available Drugs... My first thought was the TB was a travel bug, hah, and I am in the health profession. When I read geocaching terms into regular everyday conversation, does it mean I am spending too much time thinking about geocaching?
  5. Charter members are members who use Charter Communications for their email address and their pocket queries get filtered out as junk.
  6. I have a solution to the missing pocket queries filtered out by charter. I created a new email account from gmail (they don't throttle or filter the email). I made the gmail acount my primary email address from geocaching.com. Gmail allows for free pop mail access, so I added the necessary information to my outlook express, and just like that I get my pocket queries. This must be a charter problem.......but it will work like this......if you want to go to the trouble.
  7. Am I the only one who found humor in the objection to a cache involving the Bible being posted by a "pyrotechnician"?
  8. I still can not get pq's thru charter, but the yahoo mail comes thru. The corrupt info was my fault. My database on the cachemate was corrupt. I reinstalled, and it works fine now. Just not if sent to charter
  9. I have charter internet and I am not getting the pocket queries either. I have tried to send them to my yahoo account and they go thru, but are corrupt. Cant figure this out. I have used pocket queries since their inception, and just now have the problems.

    Pocket Queries

I also have Charter and am not getting any pocket queries. I also have yahoo mail, and I am not getting them there either. I think it is a GC.com problem.......Help
  11. My wife recently had carpal tunnel surgery. While I was looking online for the location of the surgery center I noticed a cache hidden less than 0.2 miles away (a park and grab). I stayed in the waiting area until the surgery was over. As we were leaving the surgery center, I picked up my wife and she just looked at me and said, "I am fine, you can go find the cache". I drove over and found the lamp post micro and we went home. I am either proud of my wife to let me, or am embarrased to tell anyone of my addiction. I also once found a cache on the way home from my uncle's funeral.......no it was not at the same cemetery. Dutchboy
  12. I had a travel bug go missing, and it never turned up. It had been MIA for about 2 years, and I got the idea to just use the same tracking number to start a new bug. I am not sure this is the best solution, but it worked for me. It lives again. I just made a new item, and put the tracking number on it.
  13. I had an old Palm that I used with cachemate and it worked well. Occasionally I would drop the palm, and the batteries would fall out and I would loose all my data 50 miles from home. I was dead in the water. I also did not like the size of the dispay of the palm. I bought a used Dell Axim x30 on ebay and I love it. I installed Cachemate on it and it works like a charm. I installed the program on my SD card, to save memory, and I love it. I just transfer the gpx file to the SD card and import it into cachemate, and away I go. DutchBoy
  14. I have done a search to see if this has been discussed before. Is there any interest, besides myself, for the geocaching.com website to be formatted to be pocketpc/palm friendly?
  15. I too, hate to have the coins turn up missing. Recently I placed an activated geocoin in a cache, but I stipulated that the coin was to stay in the cache. It was not meant to travel. I know that it can still be stolen, but I think that many bugs that go missing are in someone's desk drawer, forgotten about. Everyone who visits the cache can see the actual coin, and get the icon, just not take it. This is a test, so I will see how it goes. DutchBoy
  16. Here is a link to my log where I had a run in with the police. My run in with the police
  17. I have noticed the time to approve a cache has increased recently. There have been few caches approved in the last 5 days. I have had one waiting for several days now. Is it a matter of increased amount of caches or what?
  18. I don't mine the repetitive micro caches, even the lamp post skirts. I like all kinds of caches, from the long hikes to the micros. I love logging into the site and seeing another one pop up on my first page. You can never tell what kind of hunt you are in for until you get to the site......so the excitement remains for awhile.
  19. Once I found and cache and got back to my car and I could not find my keys. I backtracked into the woods, and would you believe I found them. From that point on I have always been paranoid about losing my keys or my phone, so the first thing I do is put them in my jacket pocket and zip it.
  20. I hope this is not duplicate information, but I found this site that converts the gpx files to kml that you can open up in google earth. Here is the site. gps visualizer
  21. I would like to see about the last 100 logs of caches only in the state that I live in. I know I can see the last few logs, but I would like to see more. Is there a way to do this?
  22. I got my coins from the minter today. I will be mailing them out during the next few days. Sorry the scan is not focused better.
