Hi everyone!
After being frustrated by my old GPS and using my iPhone, I have decided to get a new GPS. The problem is I have no idea what to get. I have been using my grandfather's old eMap-with no computer connectivity- for use in wooded areas and my iPhone in the city. The way I have been caching is by following a compass and the coordinates (I can't even enter the coords of the cache on the gps); the eMap just displays the coords that I am currently at and I follow my compass to ground zero. I like the way I am able to interact and see the area that the cache is in with my iPhone in the city. I like the idea of paperless caching and I'm on the border about touch-screens (ease of use vs. durability). I can't say what more I would like other than being sturdy (clumsy) and having a decent battery life.
So far, from lurking in the forums, I have heard about and I'm weighing the pros and cons of the:
60CSx
62s (62sc)
Colorado 300
Etrex 20/30
PN-40
PN-60w
I would love to know what y'all are using and would recommend. (Or if I missed one)
Since I've been operating with the eMap, I know very little about how computers and GPS interact- I have a mac- so any info you could give about that would be helpful.
Also the concept of maps...Little confused on whether they're built in or if I have to purchase them.
Thank you so much for your help!
