  1. But do you leak ?? Actually.... . As an aside, I just got back from my 100th cache hunt! Hurrah! It only took me a little under two years.
  2. Well, I'm fat and ugly. I don't know how that's relevant though.
  3. Isn't American Idol the most popular show on TV?
  4. "There's no crying in ........geocaching!" Anyhow, I didn't seriously think this would ever happen because the "GONG" would make some people cry and some already are... An approach that would work is to have a user assigned attribute that gives a thumbs up to the better caches.... It's a cruel world.
  5. Let's face it, dumpsters make the best cache containers. They are larger than any old ammo can and can hold all kinds of swag (which muggles will add to, of course). This will please almost everybody--it's large enough for those who hate micros, and urban enough for those who like PNG's. Most of them are fairly waterproof. They are sturdy. And they can't easily be moved or stolen. I think I'm on to somethin'....
  6. Is a gone GONG gone forever? Or is there some kind of permanent GONG record? I don't think there should be anonymous GONG's. If you're going to GONG then you should GONG with pride.
  7. There ought to be some kind of reprieve from the GONG if, for instance, your cache stinks because it has been muggled, moved, or otherwise disturbed or downgraded. I mean alot of caches really stink because some moron has put something disgusting in them, or has failed to replace the cache properly. That seems like it might cause a bad cache experience, but can't be attributed to the owner--unless he or she just hasn't made any reasonable effort to maintain it.
  8. I can point you to several really nifty light pole skirt caches. Just kidding. Have a safe and fun trip, and welcome to the Emerald Coast!
  9. I may like the Gong idea. It has some problems, but I might like where it's going. Can you "un-gong" the cache if the owner makes it so that it isn't so lame anymore?
  10. I'm kind of looking for someone to give me a pitch for their area, or a suggestion on an area that they had alot of fun caching in. I haven't decided to drive to Georgia yet. I basically want to keep it within a days drive, but that leaves plenty of Florida, Alabama, and Georgia. Maybe even Mississippi, Tennessee, or South Carolina--although these are on the far side. Someone in another thread kind of gave Jacksonville a bad rap as a town with a lot of poor quality micros. I don't know--I've never been. Other than that, I don't have a lot of information on areas that are generally very high quality. Thanks again to anyone who'll help!
  11. Just ordered. I hope I got in before the order was sent off!
  12. My wife and 6 month old are travelling to see family in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately I can't take enough time away from work to go with them, but I can get away for a couple of days for a little caching roadtrip. This isn't something I can normally do, so I'd love to make the most of it. I live in the Panhandle of Florida and am looking for a good area to go for a couple of days of caching. I'm thinking of the greater Atlanta area, perhaps around Stone Mountain, GA. Ideas and info are much appreciated!
  13. Ha! Gotcha back with the spell check error!
  14. When I bought my 60csx I did a lot of research, and it is not compatible with any version of City Select NA. You have to buy City Navigator. This is different than the 60c and the 60cs. The reason I mention this: I haven't been able to find the auto navigation kit for the 60csx that comes with City Navigator, except on Garmin.com ($216 ). You'll either have to wait until some discounters carry the auto kit, buy it from garmin directly, or piece it together yourself with City Navigator v.7 or 8. Hope this helps! Edit: BTW, most retailers will have the auto nav kit as compatible with the Garmin GPSMap 60, 60c, 60cs, 60cx, and 60csx. I think this is because they are just ASSUMING that because the newer units will work with the mount and charger that they are also compatible with the same software. CHECK Garmin's website for compatibility. I don't want anybody to be dissapointed that they got something that won't work! Using Garmin 60CSx with City Select v7 and no problems...garmin just isnt supporting the select anymore..they are recommending to use Navigator as the map sizes are smaller...but if you have select..use it..it works great as well.... Arrgh ! Now you tell me! I guess I could have saved some money. Oh well, thanks for clearing that up. I guess if I would have only waited on hold for 40 minutes to talk to that Garmin rep I could have found that out. Thanks!
  15. This thread's going nowhere and really fast. I personally don't use any wood, or stone, or plastic products. I only use space age aluminum--that actually came from outer space--even to wipe. That way I make sure not to use any of our natural resources for natural purposes.

  17. That, and nobody will want to be the "meanie" that tells someone their cache really stinks with a low rating.
  18. I put my pants on just like the rest of you--one leg at a time. Except once my pants are on... definitely more cowbell!
  19. I am getting ready to place my first one and I am just now getting to 100 finds. I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. I think it has challenged me to be creative and thoughtful while designing the hunt. I don't think that there ought to be a rule, but I think it does help for someone to have seen some good caches before. On the other hand, as I mentioned in another thread, I've got friends who just started geocaching a week ago. They don't own a gpsr (they borrow one of mine) and most of the caches they have seen around us have been fairly unimaginative micros--the light pole skirt in the BK parking lot type of stuff. So, just because you've seen caches doesn't necessarily make you any better qualified to hide one. The bad ones may inspire you to the highest levels of mediocrity.
  20. I've actually had the cops called on me once. I had a little 'splainin' to do. I think he was pretty skeptical as to whether I was telling the truth, but the fact that I had on a GC.com hat helped. In the end he ended up being pretty cool about it and we talked for a little while. I tried to sell him on geocaching.
