  1. It's really sad, but the only bug/coin I've had any luck in it staying alive is a tiny loggerhead coin I released while in New Zealand in 2007. I had one I set loose in September 2006. [i'd activated it in 2005, but wasn't happy with the hitchhiker, so it took me about a year to find the "perfect" item.] It milled around my home area for two months, and then wound up in the hands of someone who had a relative going to it's ultimate destination. The bug was to go to Auckland, NZ, sort of a "race" to see who would make it there first, me or it. Then it "disappeared". The member in possession said that they would release it "soon". That was mid-2007, after I had already gone to NZ myself in March. Subsequent inquiries received no response. I was a bit tickled pink when I saw it placed in a cache 2 months ago. Then I looked up the cache. It was basically a "replacement cache" for a 5/5 that had been muggled. [i have some serious problems with keeping travelers for an extended period of time.] If I hadn't moved from that area last year, I would have busted my butt to go reclaim it from that cache. I wish I had asked someone I knew to go after it, b/c what'd'ya know, the cache was missing again in less than a week. I'm annoyed. I've released 5 and 4 are lost. I know people have released more and lost more, but... It just really annoys me. My hopes were up that we'd have another "race", but those are a bit dashed now...
  2. Hehehe. BTW - Those "fruit" are hedgeapples. http://www.hedgeapple.com/ Fond memories of dad swerving onto the shoulder of the road to squish them.
  3. Heh. When I worked in Rockville, Security paged my plate. I got downstairs and they told me that someone watched a black snake slither underneath my car and disappear. Popped open the hood and found it wrapped around the front axle. I'd gotten to work a little before that, so my engine was still warm. Much poking and prodding by the people with me resulted in the snake unwiding and trying to slither off. Someone got its head pinned between a couple of sticks and carted it off to the pond behind the building. I don't like snakes either. Not exactly what I wanted hitchhiking home that night. [Although it probably would have left before I did.]
  4. Wow! That's a pretty great story! Grats on joining the International Club. (And being a FTF on it to boot!)
  5. If you do this again, I'd be interested.
  6. New Zealand and Australia. I found only 6 in NZ, but my friend in OZ was really excited about geocaching, so I spent more time looking at caches and maps and doing PQs and such. We found 16 (and DNFed 3) in Australia. It was cool.
  7. Oh crap. How did I miss this wonderful coin? Oh.. I was on vacation. They do look really nice.
  8. I leave tomorrow for Perth and I'm taking a handful of my otherwise gathering dust coins with me.
  9. I'm going to Australia in 2 weeks, but I'm heading through LAX with no time to stop and cache.
  10. I still have not received mine. Could I get a confirmation that they were mailed? Payment made for 2 quarters on 9/22.
  11. I had an incident where I reserved snowwolf coins, couldn't remember if I had ordered. The creator told me to ask USAgeocoins and I never got a response out of them. I never did get an invoice, but I found the reserve email I'd sent (which answered my original question). At that point all had been sold. I just don't bother to order from USAgeocoins. Which is a shame, as I do like some of the coins. But, IMHO, the neat coin is not worth the aggrivation. But I guess as long as the actual owner sells all his coins, he really doesn't care if the seller annoys people who wanted to buy it otherwise.
  12. My coin is in my coin box somewhere. Whenever I get a chance to cache I try to hit up my box, but... I'm usually distracted enough trying to get my GPS updated.
  13. I hope mine arrive soon. *twitch twitch* *stalk mailman*
  14. Seeking: Wildlife Muggles Cache Bandit Virgo I have assorted coins I can trade in return. I'm just really disorganized and don't have a list.
  15. Purse? I don't carry a purse. I have a backpack of "diversions" i carry to work. For caching, I have a small backpack that I carry my stuff in.
  16. I finally got out to place mine (spent the summer in Physio... fun... not.) and it was snatched up near immediately. I wouldn't doubt within minutes of our departure. My TB I also dropped remained there though. I hope someone picks him up at some point...
  17. The recommended route is the hint? IMHO, knowing that interchange I'd put that in the cache description. Otherwise you're going to have people parking on the shoulder and jumping the guardrail to get to it. I've got the horrible memory of what happened at the next exit northbound... when the light at the interchange was out. Not the same scenario, but interchanges are really dangerous, and I think I'd rather take my chances with a rattler or bear.
  18. Please? I PMed you my email addy
  19. I splurged and made a big order. DH bugs me about my coin habit, but he saw these and said to "go for the gold". Hahaha.
  20. There's a pdf or word doc out there with little squares to insert into a keychain. Anyone have the link? I've been searching various word combos and can't seem to find it. >.<
  21. You can buy the small Cthulhu's at thinkgeek. That's where I got mine, and he's perched on top of my speakers. Heh. I'm considering buying one of their plush microbes and sending that out, but I can't decide which disease I want to spread.
