  1. I love collecting countries too. Is there a way to see which countries have souvenirs available? How does it work for the islands such as in the Caribbean? We have one for Dominican Republic but what about an island owned by another country? Would you get the country of ownership or nothing at all?
  2. Hello, Everyone ... I have a thought in the back of my mind as to why some travel bugs no longer circulate. Given our large, worldwide population of geocachers, there may be some who can no longer geocache due to reasons of health, family, work, etc. They may have left the sport while still in possession of travel bugs. Some of these people may still occasionally visit the forums to see what is going and this note is addressed to them. If you would like to send those travel bugs to me, I'll get them back in circulation. Please send me a note and I will provide my mailing address. I do realize this is a very long shot as people who have given up on the sport will likely not visit the forums anymore. Nevertheless, thought I would give this a try and see what develops. Should this lead to any travel bugs being sent to me, I will post a follow-up note (notes?) to let people know what is happening. Again - no need to tell me the probability of success is low, but ... nothing ventured, nothing gained. All the best.
  3. WE used our TomTom One for the first 48 caches we did. It works fine in the open and is great for getting you to the nearest parking. It won't work in the trees or in canyons. But if you are just starting out it will be fine.
  4. Thank you. I'm checking these out now!
  5. Where can I find the best maps to add to my Oregon 200? I am desperate to get out caching but don't have any basemaps or anything on my new toy so I need some help. I would like to have Alberta, Saskatchewan and BC on the maps but anything additional would be great. What do you use? We are in Calgary and I have posted this to the calgary area cachers page as well. thanks 3 billygoats
  6. You're placing the GPX file in the wrong folder. Move it to the Garmin\GPX folder (not in the Current folder) and you should get better results. (I have an Oregon 550t, but I'm 99% sure the folder is the same for both units.) --Larry Thank you Larry. That was it! I can even see the names of the caches now too!
  7. Yes, I have an Oregon 200. I dragged and dropped the files into the Garmin /GPX/ Current file and I can see them on the PC when it is connected but when I unplug it the GPS says there are no caches found.
  8. Please help. I want to get out and cache but I can't figure this out. I did a pocket query and it arrived in my e-mail just fine. I unzipped the file and dragged the points into my GArmin-GPX-Current file. I can see them listed when my GPS is plugged into the computer but when I unplug it and touch the Geocache icon on the GPS it says No Caches Found. What am I doing wrong? Am I missing a step? Am I looking in the wrong place? Please help me get out caching!!!
