  1. one more try....hmm Edit: yay! it worked this time...if only i could make it bigger....
  2. the location "selected" or "lat/lon" came up a while in this thread...sumerized below.....where I was not much help to Seventhson(sorry), even though I'm pretty sure that this is right .... anyway...the manual for the Legend says "Location (lat/lon) - Your current GPS position. Location (selected) - The lat/lon of point defined on map" the odd thing is that my location (selected) is not expressed in lat/lon, but instead in whichever corrdinate system I have chosen(hence the name selected.) I believe that both numbers are the same point, just two different ways of expressing it. Never did find a way to figure out how to show the coodinates of the two different points on the same page.
  3. I guess its time for me to get a case.... Just wondering if the case makes using the unit any harder. i.e. reaching/pushing buttons, covering up too much of the screen, too big....
  4. Assuming that this would be for the Legend C that you just bought (I'm psychic!) you would want the city select. The Legend C supports auto routing, so this is the way to go. Just be sure that when you buy thet you are getting the latest version (v6) Another way to solve your question would to be to check the "MapSource Compatibility: Garmin Recomends" dropdown on Garmin's Legend C page: Legend C. If you look carefully, Metroguide North America is not there (and I am not really sure why MG Canada is, most of Canada is covered by CSv6 and MGv6) Just trying to help- Bike Hike Cache
  5. I love it. Just wondering if there was a possibility of putting the saying on the back instead of the front. (and maybe a little geocaching logo or something on the front) just my thoughts -BikeHikeCache
  6. lol Actually, I am planning on buying one of these (vista c) too, and your information has been very helpful, thanks Dukie 'n' Dad, and all other respondents too.
  7. Thanks for the info on this vendor. I guess I'll do my business here; its the best price I can find, and if your unit was delivered with no problems, then that sounds great!
  8. I know that CS has autorouting, and MG does not, but pretty much everythig else is the same. (or tell me if I'm wrong!) I was wondering if when you load maps onto a unit from CS, do they take up more memory than the maps from MG do, or is it about the same? I am in the US, but I suppose that the answer would be the same everywhere. Thanks.
  9. well, I guess I didn't need to do this, but because I knew it was there... compare garmins here be aware that the prices are MSRP. Enjoy (or not.)
  10. Thanks, I guess I'll go and get the CitySelect then. I wonder what percentage of roads MG v4 would be missing.
  11. I was looking at getting a Vista C with the shipping deal too ($319!) Special Thanksgiving Shipping Note: Due to the long Thanksgiving weekend, overnight orders placed after Tuesday 11/23/04 - 3:00pm EST, will arrive on Monday November 29. Just thought I'd clue you in so you're not all mad friday night. (instead you're mad now....lol)
  12. From what I understand, even if your Garmin GPSr supports autorouting, the Metroguide maps do not. I am planning on getting a Vista C in the near future (it supports autorouting). If I want it to work with the autorouting, and not route me "as the crow flies" will I have to buy the CS v6 (expensive!) or can I just upgrade to the MG v6 and the Vista C will route on the streets? (and if you don't understand a word I said there, I don't really understand it either ) Currently I have a b&w Legend and MG v5, which routes as the crow flies, but this is beside the point because I know that the Legend does not support auto routing anyway! Thanks.
  13. Hey coopers crew, check out my username! anyway...... I have a Garmin Legend with the bike mount and I love it. It has fairly good reception in the woods as long as you get the satellite lock while you are in a field (parking lot.) I use it instead of a bike computer now, and can operate it while riding (is this safe???) I strongly recomend it, but as never owning a Magellan unit, I can't say much, except I do know they are bigger.
  14. I would like to know about the security here too! eTrex Legend C: $255 eTrex Vista C: $309 FYI: The GPS Place has free overnight shipping on the 60cs, being sold at $395. There is free shipping for the color eTrexes(?) and others with reasonable prices across the board.
  15. eTrex Legend for about a year now (and I love it), but I would like to get a Vista C. I guess I might look into a 60C with such nice stuff being said about it here.
  16. I am strongly thinking about upgrading from my old B&W Legend to one of these. I just wanted to hear some thoughts about them from people who owned them. Is it worth the money? Do they pan any faster? (i.e. my old legend always gave me a blank screen when I panned and took about 5 sec for it to come back) Are there any flaws you see? thanks -bike hike cache oh, if this is a thread somewhere else, could someone point me to it? EDIT: if you wouldn't mind, could you also say how much your unit cost and where you got it?
  17. how weird , I sent Target an email: 10/13/04 Is this item really with a color screen? ("With its color, sunlight-readable display")The picture shows it as black and white. Thank you. and got this reply: Oct 14, 2004 8:38 AM Greetings from Target.com. All the information we have about eTrex Legend C Bonus Pack is currently listed on the product information page. However, I've personally checked and found that this item is available in color display. (and it goes on and on.........) I think there is still hope, but maybe not from what 3boys said.
  18. WOW!!! I got a regular legend two years ago for $200-$50rebate. This would be an amazingly cheap way to upgrade; something I would like to do. I wish they were being shipped faster, then I would ask one of you to tell me if it really is the real thing. Unfortunatelly, it looks like over a month, so I think I'll order now before they realize their mistake! Thanks for the link!
  19. Oh. I think that (the manual) must be wrong because my location (selected) in not in lat/lon!!! Sorry that I am not much help....
  20. Are you sure that "location (selected)" is a selected point on the map? From my Legend it appeared that "location (lat/lon)" is your current location in lat/lon and "location (selected)" is your current location in whatever units (like UTM) you have set for your Legend. (main menu: units: position format) I don't know of any way to have your current location and final location on the same page, sorry. I am just a rookie so wait around for some other answers.
