  1. I've never realy liked the idea of birdbox type caches as chicks tend to get abandoned if they pick up the wrong scent.
  2. Well I'm glad that it's all perfectly clear now! My cache 'moved' by about 30 metres last saturday and then 'moved' back after a couple of hours, is this a tree reflection problem or is the CIA moving geocaches to p*ss us off for having a better system? I did see a suspicious looking character! So are there GLONASS handsets available and is it any better? Probably not as it's russian but an interesting question none the less.
  3. It is a very valid point, the quality is far more important than the quantity. So now fow another question in the numbers game, how many member only caches are there in the UK?
  4. Did you have to? makes my 22 seem completely inadequate Congrats to lost in space!
  5. New cache has now been set and approved, now who's going to be first to check my dodgy coordinates? Don't you just love woodland! (and micro's ) Edited by Lactodorum to remove "advert"
  6. So which came first? EGNOS or Bronchitis?
  7. Pinguman is now trading as "Nellies Knackers" As it's both me and the Mrs. putting lots of time into our nearly ready cache I thought we should have a 'team' username rather than just mine. Nelly (nelson) is the dog by the way and wood green animal shelter have been in possesion of said dangly articles for nearly 14 years now although I doubt they kept them.( I didn't ask!) This was always the pub quiz team name so........
  8. You should get a data cable with an Etrex (if new) it'll be a serial cable and there is plenty of freeware available for organising waypoints tracks and routes.
  9. This is the sort of cache when micro's become useful for clue collecting, but it would be better to make it one multi leg cache, no one says it has to done in one outing. I know what you mean about the search facilities on gc.com as I found the final details for "Enigma" puzzle cache after just 2 clicks of a mouse so technically cheated on it. There can't be many places suitable for a virtual that couldn't hide a micro.
  10. I've only hidden one so far but have another almost ready so it's 1:22 so far (We're only beginners) but now have 6 ammo boxes and 300 film pots (don't panic!!! I'm not about to hide 300 micro's). If cachers only hide one each it would make more opportunities for the people that have hidden heaps, it seems a bit unfair to get all the fun of the hunt and never make the effort to add a bit.
  11. Thats the whole point of a lucky dip! If it was one I knew to be a big winner I'd be up there like a shot!!! Being sporting doesn't compare to being rich!!!! I always get lucky dips as if I had a set of regular numbers you know full well I'd forget a ticket the week they came up! How depressing would that be... Anyway, when are they going to bring out a scratchcard called "lose a pound"
  12. I guess that kind of proves the point then (phew).
  13. Well if it's a winning ticket you sort of....errr....Win!
  14. I was thinking of including a £1 lucky dip lottery ticket in my next cache as a FTF incentive/prize/trade item, would this be appropriate or an absolute sin punishable by burning at the stake? Opinions please.
  15. I have to add that I am just guessing the numbers involved through recent conversations and experience. Does anybody know any accurate stats for the UK as it would be interesting to see, even if it does prove me horribly wrong .
  16. As it happens Dave from Flint is entirely innocent as it's Dave from Cambs. (me). Seeing as there are more cachers than caches in the UK and most active cache hiders have several caches, that means an awful lot of lazy sods are enjoying caching without putting anything back into it, so if an easy to do micro gets them more into the spirit of the sport (is it a sport or just a pasttime?) can it realy be a bad thing, chances are when a few logs start coming back by email they'll be more likely to hide a regular cache. I have a load spare due to seting up a multi/puzzle cache in a local piece of ancient woodland with with 10 micros and 3 possible routes to the ammo box, each route will have 5 or 6 micros, so watch out for "Up yer Hertzog". Don't go for the approach of 'buy them up to get them out of the way' as it will only encourage me to put more on ebay (I have 320 film pots!!! ) as when asking for some from the local processing shop they handed over a huge bagful (I only wanted 12 ) Doh! So there you have it, a full confession from the guilty party, all hate-mail will be responded to (by sulking profusely).
