  1. Thanks a lot everyone, now I can oficially say, my decision is HARDER. Hehe! Now we just threw the V into the mix of things. I like the V and I looked at it for a while, but I like the ability to throw the gpsr in the pocket, pack, glove compartment etc.. I get a little worries about the funcky antenna on the V. I am sure it is rock solid, but I know myself and I have a tendency to break things easily . Thanks for all of the great suggestions and tips. Although the V is great, I am probable still going to decide between the vista and 76S. I do like the Com and Alt. They are grat tools for hiking and I like to have them on one unit. So, I suppose I will keep pondering over my question. Best, Cozmo
  2. Ok, Here it is! I need some help on this guys and gals. I was all set today to set out and order my gpsmap76s and decided to compare it to the vista. I recently sold my Summit, and was upgrading. When looking at the vista, a really couldn't see why I should spend the extra hundred dollars. I like my GPS for hiking, caching and driving mostly. The 76s, from what I was reading, works best from a upright mounting. The Vista is better horizontal. Well then, Why should I buy the 76s. - Less Batter life, - Complicated reception - Less resonlution - Bigger Size - more money I do however like the floatable design. Anyway, has anyone elese come across this dilema. I would appreciate any comments, either way Thanks Cozmo
  3. Does anyone know if there are any websites or programs that will allow you to put in an address and get a position with Lat and long? Thanks! Cozmo
  4. I am sure this was asked before, but how much map data (how large of an area) could fit onto, say a 24mb gps unit. Specifically a gpsmap76s. I am looking at metroguide and road and rec. Thanks for your help Cozmo
  5. Well, since every thread must have it's own argument over something trivial and unrelated to geocaching, I'll pop in with a disagreement. A lot of this light is wasted I admit, this does look impressive, but remember, light pollution is a major form of pollution in the world (especially in the US). Think about it, how much light is used to deter crime? Is all of this extra light worth losing out sight of the stars. Go out west and you'll see what they sky should look like. I know your just throwing the argument out for a friendly gesture, so I will do the same! Best, Cozmo

  7. Thanks Vertigo, I am happy that the compass and altimeter is worked into the 76S. That is a big bonus for me, because I did not want to lose those features when upgrading. The smaller and lighter design is something that I'll miss, but I'm sure I'll get over it when I get all of the extra features! Thanks Cozmo
  8. Ok, I am finally upgrading my beloved Etrex Summit. This has been one of the best purchases I have ever made (the summit). I want to know if I will be losing anything from the summit when I upgrade to the map76s (except several hundred dollars). Thanks Tom

If you are interested, I might be willing to sell it for $165 (this includes the cable). Retail, they go for $225 + $20 for cable: $245. let me know. If you are interested, It will kick me in the butt and get the ball rolling on my upgrade. Great gift idea! You'll be seeing straight A's for a while Tom
