  1. I was looking to upgrade to a garmin ipaq. I was lookling for a pda and why not get one with a gps. If you are interested in the Vista and mapsource, make me an offer if you like. It is a wonderful unit packed with tons of features. Tom
  2. This is Tom (the seller) again. I am willing to negotiate the price. If you are interested, just let me know. Thanks, Tom
  3. I am thinking about upgrading my GPS and am looking to sell by beloved Vista. I am sure it will make someone very happy as it has me. I originally sold my Summit on here when I upgraded to my Vista. I am including Mapsource topo, the data and power cable, Bike/handlebar kit, and pack of screen protectors as part of the package. I'll ship for free and accept PayPal. I am looking to sell the package for $315. If interested, email me at tdavidock@comcast.net. **As recent posts on here suggest. there are people selling things on here that are not sending the product or there are people purchasing that are not sending payments. I am a very honest seller and will do everything that I can to make you feel comfortable about buying from me.
  4. I purchased my Vista from advancegps.com several months ago last spring. They were a horrible company to order from and would not do it again, but as I was searching the web, I noticed that they stopped carrying garmin on their website. I wonder if their poor service caught up with them. Hmmm. Anyone else noticed this or know why? Cozmo
  5. About a year ago, I proposed through geocaching. Here is how I did it. First, I had an old ring of hers that I gave her several years before. She thought she lost it, but little did she know, I found it on the floor and hid it. On the day that I was going to propose, I hid the ring I found out in a beautiful park in St. Louis in a small wooden box that I bought for her over seas. I picked her up from work and told her that we were going to go geocaching. I let her use the GPS (she always wants to be in charge of it) to find the cache. It was right around sundown when we were searching for it. When she found the cache, she opened to box only to realize that the ring was the one thatshe lost. I got down on my knee and proposed. I had the real ring with me. Didn't want to take the chance of having someone find the ring before her. It was great! The sunset was beautiful. Shortly after, we had a picnic in the park. She loves the idea of us always having the exact coordinates of where we got engaged. Now, she will never get mad at me and my GPSr. It was all a ploy to keep geocaching Tom

  7. Has anyone ever received an apology from them? That was all I asked for and I never received one! Hmmm... Customer Service not so good!
  8. Check out their record with the BBB. Pretty bad!! Better Business Bureau BBB
  9. Well, it is a little late in the season now, but when the plant is young and the leaves are small, they are very tasty. It has a good garlic taste (the leaves) and can be fried up, baked in or place on any garlic lover's food. You must like garlic hence: the name garlic mustard. Remember: only eat when the plant is young (March-Late April) and do not eat anything if you are unsure what it is. If you eat it now, it will not have much of a taste and can give you a tummy ache.
  10. I will also say: "STAY AWAY FROM ADVANCEGPS.COM" They are a horrible company with rude and ignorant employees. I had a very bad experience with them and will NEVER order from them again. I order frequently over the internet and never had service as bad as theirs. So, even though the price may be good, it isn't worth it. Trust me!
  11. If the compass and altimeter are not important for you, then you may be interested in the Gramin gps map76 instead of the 76s. This shou;d take your price down quite a bit. It is basically the same unit minus the C&A.
  12. I have a Vista and I am curious about what cases work well for them. I am a little worried about the accessibility of the click stick in a case? What do you all use! Thanks! Oh ya, were is a good place to pick one up!
  13. check out this auction from Sams club http://auctions.samsclub.com/Scripts/ListingInfo.asp?LotNo=75914361&BatchNo=0 Later
  14. I have it! No major differences yet, but I have not played around with it too much! I'll let you know !!
  15. Thanks a lot! I cannot believe i missed that! All is now well in the house of the newly purchased vista! Cozmo
  16. I just got my vista today, and after I transfer waypoints to it from my computer, it shuts off. Is this normal? I read some other threads and found that there are some shut off problems, but mine only seems to happen after I transfer data? Any thoughts! Oh ya, the data transfers fine!
  17. The problem is not with USPS! Advancegps.com said that they mailed it out on Wednesday of last week. I just got my tracking number and it was shipped out on Monday (this week). They have given me wrong info. Still, I have not gotten a response from them via e-mail. I sent three messages all without a response. I am sure they are a good company, but they have treated me pretty crappy. All I would like is either an explanation of what happened (telling me it was back ordered or something) and maybe an appology. I havn't got either. I paid the extra shipping because I wanted it for the past weekend! I am disappointed because it seems to have been a waste of money. Does anyone have any other contact infor for people that own the business. Maybe they could give me an answer. I am not dissing them. All of the good posts about them influenced me to order it through them. I just hate bad communication and failure to respond to e-mails. I will post my latest e-mail message below: "Dear Sales Dept, I just wanted to inform you that the tracking system is working. According to my tracking number, it was stated that: Your item was accepted at 6:45 pm on April 22 in LOMA LINDA CA 92354. (I ordered my Vista on April 16th) 1.) I understand that there may have been a backorder of Vista's, which would have caused the delay. This is fine and understandable, but I really wish that I was told this, and not told that it shipped last Wednesday (April 18th). This was the reason why I was concerned that it had not arrived. 2.) I have sent two e-mails to sales without reply. If I had tried to contact advancegps too many times, I apologize, but I have done so because I never got an answer to my questions from the sales department). Until now, after looking at the tracking page, I have not even known what the status of my order was. I was told it shipped the middle of last week (which was incorrect). Each e-mail that I sent requesting more info on this was not returned). If you could explain why my order has taken so long and why there was a confusion in communication, I would really appreciate it. There are MANY individuals requesting information on where to buy GPS products, and I would like to refer them to your company. Unless I understand what the mixup was, I cannot, in all honesty, say that advance GPS was a good company to work with. I would rather not do that. Have a great day, Tom"
  18. I just ordered my Vista last tuesday from advancegps.com. So far, it has not arrived and I paid the extra three day priority mail shipping option. I was told it was shipped out on Wednesday. I call, no response! I e-mail, no response, I pray, still not GPS in mail. The price was good, but for me, but apparently not everyone, the service is a bit below par. Hopefully there is a valid reason for this delay. I ordered rechargable batts and a cig adapter cable on friday and they are here (from other companies). Anyone else have a similar problem. I am not dissing advancegps, but in retrospec, I would have gone with TVnav, com Cozmo
  19. Well, I'm an American and I really would love if we learned a few things from Canada. For instance, No death penalty, universal health insurane. I am currently w/out health insurance because I can't afford it. It cost me 350/month. Imagine if I had kids. America is often called a great country, but everything about it isn't always so great. That's why we need to work and make those thigs better. Cozmo
  20. Good opinions! Could someone suggest some good rechargable AA Systems out there. I was doing a search and found that there are a ton of different brands. Also, any cheap places to get them! Thanks for your help! Cozmo
  21. quote:Originally posted by Atilla the Pun: The last thing I want to see is another device with a proprietary battery that I can only use for that device and have to throw away when it goes bad. And then pay $45 for a replacement battery. Respectfully, AtP I hear ya, but you can easily spend $45 dollars buying 400 AA Bats. That is equivalent to 200 charges of a rechargable batt. I agree, I would rather use a universal battery, but I would much rather be able to plug my unit into the outlet and charge it up for the day. (I guess that is why they make rechargable AA's.) To each their own. Cozmo

  23. Has anyone ever wondered why Garmin doesn't make/offer a reghargable gps. Kinda like a cell phone. I understand that people need to use GPSr's for long periods of time, but It just seems like this is something that we would see. I for one would like this option, especially if there was an option to use wither AA batt. or the recharagable battery I know there is the option to purchace your own rechargable AA's but...
  24. Thanks a lot everyone, now I can oficially say, my decision is HARDER. Hehe! Now we just threw the V into the mix of things. I like the V and I looked at it for a while, but I like the ability to throw the gpsr in the pocket, pack, glove compartment etc.. I get a little worries about the funcky antenna on the V. I am sure it is rock solid, but I know myself and I have a tendency to break things easily . Thanks for all of the great suggestions and tips. Although the V is great, I am probable still going to decide between the vista and 76S. I do like the Com and Alt. They are grat tools for hiking and I like to have them on one unit. So, I suppose I will keep pondering over my question. Best, Cozmo
