  1. Did it for fun to begin with, then Phoenix made it personal for the FTFs. So we beat him a few times, then got bored of it and went back to doing it for fun!!
  2. I know this will be of no use whatsoever but can get mileages for overhead line gantries along the railway..... Some say it is sad........ Some say WELL THAT'S MY JOB!!! Any wonder I like caching, better than sitting around looking at pictures of the railway all day and then having to draw it!! Sometimes I get let out.......to places of wonder and awe.......places of such historical significance their contribution to the world cannot be denied.....where are these places I hear you all ask........ Coventry Station, Wigan station, birmingham new street station (noticed a theme yet???!!) Warrington station, runcorn station.......AAAARRRRGGGHHH!!! I WORK IN A TRAIN SPOTTERS DREAM JOB!!!! And then Pingu pipes up with 'I'm just off to Australia, Tokyo, Antarctica, San Diego, Nice.........' I have obviously picked the wrong job!!! But back to the thread.... Anyone want mileages of overhead line gantries???!!
  3. If people go as part of a team and the team jump through the hoops then wheres the harm in only 1 team member retrieving it. We have been out with other cachers and although retrieval wasn't part of the fun the whole group has enjoyed the walk and the location. As an owner of a very difficult cache we would be a bit miffed if only 1 of the group of cachers had bothered to do part of the requirements to get there and then everyone else had just tagged along but at the end of the day its their loss. Now, if 4 cachers got together and each had only done 1 part but between them they had done all 4 parts then we would encourage them all to log the find. We've stated for our hard cache that we hope that it brings cachers together and friends are made and I think we would be mad to think that everyone could do the cache completly on their own. Getting back to the point on retrieval, not everyone is able enough to cover the last couple of metres and use another cacher to retrieve. Would you stop such people logging it?
  4. For us who aren't giving you a lift could you tell us the best place to park please? Last time it was a complete nightmare finding a parking space.
  5. My favorite drive-by was The Pub Quiz by Jan and the Percy Boys. Also close by and a drive-by is The Karaoke Night which is also by Jan and the Percy Boys.
  6. Near Frodsham in Cheshire. But originall from Bangor (N Wales and Kent respectively)
  7. Ooops double post, forum claimed it had an error!
  8. I was too embarrassed to mention on the log of one of our local ones that we got the coords completely wrong and I ended up falling down a big ditch, in the dark, in the middle of a field! Pingu's calcs were a bit out that day!! Still haven't got the big muddy stain out of my trousers!! Mind you, Pingu did once get stuck trying to crawl through a hole in a fence that I had climbed over!
  9. Skippy = M Pingu = F + 2 unknowns!!!
  10. It has been known, whilst Pingu has been laid up, I've been sent out to grab the odd FTF!!! More often than not involved falling into ditches or getting very strange looks from young ladies walking their dogs as I appear from the bushes soaking wet and looking a bit dodgy!!!
  11. Skippy here - I have a really really long list of medical problems I keep having to 'go to the doctors to get sorted'........ Then I discover Phoenix has been there already and I;m wasting my time!! So I don't do it much anymore!!!
  12. Let me know when you are going. Then maybe we could be 2 lone women in the woods!
  13. Got to go with Alibags on this one. You want to send me to remote location - Can I get back to you on that? Check geocaching.com that evening Next morning - I've checked with my husband and I think I could go there as long as I get some free time. Not yet had to get out of something.
  14. I go occasionally on my own. Own felt uncomfortable once. Was in work clothes in a wood with lots of teenages closeby. I think anyone in my situation then would have felt conspicuous. I always take my mobile and let someone know where I'm going.
  15. As the the other half of Skippy and Pingu and not being in the same place as Pingu at the moment, I feel obliged to state that Silver Geocoins had something to do with it!!! Cheers Pieman for some fun dark & wet FTFs!!!
  16. My hubby has been going out in the pouring rain and pitch black for FTF's whilst I've been laid up with morning sickness. He claims its for me but I think he's just as hooked as I am and just can't let those FTF's go
  17. Our football cache that didn't even last the 1st half was muggled. Nothing written was repeatable in such a family orientated forum other than that they also wrote "left you &$*£*&^% a ginger nut". Yes, there was a ginger nut biscuit left in the cache
  18. Hey, I started it! I should be the one to finish it!! By the way, I got a bit stuck rigtht at the beginning in the river by a 2 inch slit I couldn't fit down, what am I supposed to be doing??!!
  19. Don't worry, I agree, the scene in the first episode of series 1 where the bloke got sucked into the plane engine on the beach kind of sealed the cheesiness for me!! As for Desperate housewives, not my cup of tea either!!
  20. What's a ghosts favourite food? Spookehtti What do you get if you cross a sheep and a dolphin? Wet look knitwear.
  21. Might seem like a daft thing to ask but how many of these forums are kept open because of someone wanting to get the last word in on a particular thread? Anyone out there who likes to get the last word in? Or is everyone content to say their piece and leave it at that?
  22. Oh yeah, forgot the famous people stuff!! 10th June Born: James, Prince of Wales, commonly called 'the Pretender,' 1688, London; John Dollond, eminent optician, 1706, Spitalfields; James Short, maker of reflecting telescopes, 1710, Edinburgh. Died: Emperor Frederick Barbarossa, 1190, Cilicia; Thomas Hearne, antiquary, 1735, Oxford; James Smith, promoter of subsoil ploughing, 1850, Kinzeancleuch, Aprshire. 6th January Maybe just the ultimate one!! In Armenia anyway!! Throughout my ministry as an Armenian Orthodox priest, many have asked the question; "If Jesus was born on December 25th, then why do we celebrate on January 6th?" For some, today, the date is December 25th, others January 7th, others January 6th and again for others January 19th. So, are there 4 dates for the celebration of Christmas?
