  1. You could use Yahoo's Yellow Pages to look up Gap stores and then convert the address to GPS coordinates.
  2. I'm bookmarking this thread. See you in three years
  3. I use a PDA screen protector cut to size and then put the GPSr in one of Gilsson's cases.
  4. We were talking about Columbus this past week in my history class. It turns out the dude discovered an entire continent by pure coincidence. So, you might want to learn from the pros. Drive around town with your eyes closed and park the car at a random spot. (Please note that I'm kidding and ...don't try this at home)
  5. Nice, nice nice nice but I didn't see any mention of the hard drive size. 400Mhz processor looks promising for video playback. One feature I do like is the GPS tracking. Does it transmit your location via GSM?
  6. If it's a nice quarterpounder I'd take it. Otherwise it's going in the CITO. Unless it has some cheese on then I'd definitely take it. On a side note, if anyone needs me I'll be in the kitchen.
  7. Once I get one of those all I'm going to need is a hard hat, steel toe boots, heavy duty gloves and a nice clipboard. I hope someone's got the right size sticker to fit on the back of the clipboard though. I don't like it when my outfit doesn't match. BTW It's fun to stay at the YMCA.
  8. Now if we can all have this kind of turn out on election day we'd be golden. Anyway, I've had the Leatherman Wave for a few years now and I like it. The new one for 2004 has a nice knife blade.
  9. I'm heading down to that area in a few weeks and I'd like to do some hiking and caching. Does anyone know where I can get some trail maps for state parks in that area, like the Catskills, Hudson Highlands?
  10. Hello muddah, hello faddah Here I am at Camp Granada Camp is very entertaining And they say we'll have some fun if it stops raining. I went hiking with Joe Spivy He developed poison ivy You remember Leonard Skinner He got ptomaine poisoning last night after dinner. All the counselors hate the waiters And the lake has alligators And the head coach wants no sissies So he reads to us from something called Ulysses. How I don't want this should scare ya But my bunkmate has malaria You remember Jeffrey Hardy They're about to organize a searching party. Take me home, oh muddah, faddah Take me home, I hate Granada Don't leave me out in the forest where I might get eaten by a bear. Take me home I promise I will not make noise Or mess the house with other boys. Oh please don't make me stay I've been here one whole day. Dearest faddah, darling muddah, How's my precious little bruddah Let me come home, if you miss me I would even let Aunt Bertha hug and kiss me. Wait a minute, it's stopped hailing. Guys are swimming, guys are sailing Playing baseball, gee that's better Muddah, faddah kindly disregard this letter. I also like tongue twisters. Some of my favorites: Birdie birdie in the sky laid a turdie in my eye. If cows could fly I'd have a cow pie in my eye. And I'm not a pheasant plucker I'm the pheasant plucker's mate. I'm only here plucking pheasant 'cause the pheasant plucker's late.

  13. That's what I thought. No invisible ink then eh?
  14. Something like this could happen anywhere. As far as I can recall from my pre law classes the Supreme Court ruled in Brown v. Texas that "The application of the Texas statute to detain appellant and require him to identify himself violated the Fourth Amendment because the officers lacked any reasonable suspicion to believe that appellant was engaged or had engaged in criminal conduct." Link: http://www2.law.cornell.edu/cgi-bin/folioc...historic/query=[group+443+u!2Es!2E+47!3A]!28[group+syllabus!3A]!7C[level+case+citation!3A]!29/doc/{@1}/hit_headings/words=4/hits_only? BUT in most states and counties the law is different; Federal law as you may know doesn't always apply locally. So while you may be within your federal consitutional right in refusing to produce an ID card you're still in violation of local law. However you can still appeal your case after a long appeals process from one court to another and eventually take it up up to the Supreme Court. It will probably rule in your favor based on Brown v. Texas. But, you may never know, especially in the post 9/11 world we live in today. Keep in mind that cooperating with the local police is for your own good. Staying calm and being polite and friendly will diffuse the situation. There's no reason why you shouldn't expect the officer to be professional and curtious as well. But, at the same time know your rights and know when to stand up for youself when it's legitimate to do so.
  15. I keep seeing posts that refer others to the Off Topic Section. Where is it?
  16. OK I learned how to use the search feature in this forums today. Did I tell ya that? lol You still think I'm arrogant eh? I suppose we can all share knowledge and then share it again and again and again. That way no one would be wasting anyone's time. We'd all be one happy family.
  17. See that's the thing. There's three other forums about camping and outdoorsmanship that I like frequenting from time to time. Not one week passes without someone responding to one of MY questions with the type of response I gave this OP here. So.....I was experimenting with my "conceit and arrogance" response as you call it......I suppose this forum is really family oriented and very friendly then. Now if you feel the need to flame me, flame on, so be it. Now all that aside and just for the sake of argument wouldn't "wasting others time" be a matter of opinion in this case. Because the way I see it, another person asking "what GPS should I get?" is wasting YOUR time because you have to respond again to yet another post that you had probably responded to last week or yesterday. On the other hand "I" could be wasting the Original Poster's time by responding with a smart alec remark like I did.
  18. The 36C made by Sarcasm isn't bad at all. I personally prefer the 12CS made by Irony, check this thread for more info: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=80407
  19. Of starting a new thread called "What's in your backpack?" Or, and this one's my favorite, "I'm a n00b, what GPS should I get?" I figure it won't be long before the thread fills up with at least 30 responses. And once that happens I could post again in another section and I'm betting 8 more will respond. All the while, mind you, I won't be using the search feature on this forum because god for bid I might find the answer I've been looking for.
