  1. Any team need another member? I know a thing or two about puzzles, I was on the winning team last time and I was the one who found the final cache last year. (but who's counting?) Sir2u
  2. Wow! This is the first time I've ever noticed this thread. I want to get back into hiking (it's been way to many years) and what better way than with fellow geocachers. Sign me up for next time!
  3. Some of mine are considered very popular. Check them out!
  4. I was wondering why the wall on my property stayed together so well during this last year's storm.
  5. I would also like to be added to the list, please. Sir2u Washington, USA
  6. I'm curious what some of the best puzzle caches are. I like to design them and unfortunately I don't get enough of a chance to do much solving. What are some favorites out ther?
  7. Over a week and nobody has solved my latest puzzle cache! I thought this would be an easy one. And with one of the new jeeps sitting in there, I would think the whole state would be trying to figure it out. Check it out: "Geocaching: The Swimsuit Issue" GCY7XN Sir2u
  8. Is there camping at Granite Lake?
  9. Now my kid is saying he wants to stay around the Mt. Rainier area. Any suggestions?
  10. I'm looking to go camping next week with my 5-year-old son and am looking for a great place to setup our tent (and of course if there are some caches nearby...). I don't want to pay that ridiculous $15/day state camping fee. I want a nice free campground that's not too crowded, possibly off the beaten path and within two hours of Tacoma. I appreciate any input! Sir2u
  11. I am curious to hear everyone's funniest cache story. I know we all have one.
  12. I don't know if I would call these Puzzle Caches that I created scary but they are tough and pretty famous around these parts: The Dreaded Pirate Geisel the Fierce The Pirate's Parrot The Pirate's Ship And this one which nobody has solved it yet: Walk the Plank! If anybody from out of state can solve any of these, send me the coordinates. I would be awfully impressed.
  13. Just make sure you have the instructions in English AND Greek.
  14. Admit it. The best part about competing is when you cheat and still win. Well we invented the ideal travel bug race for all of you dishonest people out there. The object is to get your travel bug from a cache of our choosing in Washington State to any cache in Florida without getting disqualified. The starting cache(s) will not be announced so as to to make at least the first day of the race fair. (i.e. you go to the first cache, collect every TB other than your own and place them on the top of a mountain) Here are the rules. They're short and sweet and you cannot break them. 1. Bugs can only move one state at a time, states must share a common geographic border. If a bug skips a state, intentional or not, it is disqualified. They must be placed in physical caches and logs must be written in. They must travel by conventional cache & travel bug means, (i.e. no US Mail, no having others just type in your code into a log, etc.). 2. Anyone can touch any Travel Bug. 3. If a bug is taken out of a cache and is not placed into another cache within 14 days (whatever the reason), it is disqualified. If a TB is taken out of a cache it must be logged. (So if you take someone's TB and sit on it for three weeks, everyone will know who did it). 4. Everything else is fair game. The officiates have final say in a dispute. If you are disqualified, you are disqualified. We encourage you to disqualify others travel bugs any way you can. Owners can request help from other cachers along the way in order to move their bugs faster or slow down others. If you are disqualified, you can still disqualify others. Revenge is fun! Once a bug has been disqualified, please place it back in circulation as a normal travel bug. Any style of Travel Bug is allowed however evil themes are recommended (a can of deviled ham, a Martha Stewart doll, etc.) You can attach anything to it (identifying tags, dollar bill bribes for other cachers, etc.) It does not have to be a new unused Travel Bug but you do have to be the owner. The first bug to make it to Florida or be the last bug standing, wins! Once someone wins, the contest is over and we will start preparing for the next race. Numerous prizes will be awarded including "Most original travel bug" "The first bug disqualified" & "Most original cheating technique". You can enter as many bugs as you wish. Entry fees are: $5 a piece and every third bug entered is free. (bug 1 - $5, bug 2 - $5, bug 3 - free, bug 4 - $5, bug 5 - $5, bug 6 free, etc.) The more bugs you enter, the better odds you have of any of them finishing. The race begins approximately May 1st and travel bugs need to be received at the starting gate by April 25th. No late entrants will be allowed. For more information, or to download an entry form, go to The Official Great Cheater's Race Website
  15. I have a 5/5 puzzle cache called The Dreaded Pirate Geisel the Fierce that have some great log entries as person after person failed until a group of 20 came and scoured the place. I just added two more to the series The Pirate's Parrot and The Pirate's Ship that are just as difficult. Anyone from out of town want to figure out the coordinates?
  16. Is it possible to add javascipt or any other type of programming besides html to a cache description page? If not anyone ahve any ideas? I tried adding a simple script to one of my caches and it just printed the code right on the page instead of executing it.
  17. Well the reason I asked the orignal question is I just placed this cache which I think should be a 5/5 but I want to see what finders would rate it. I think it will be a problem for anyone to find, but if you happen to live elsewhere and want to send me the coordinates if you figure them out, I would be awfully impressed. 20. Has anyone ever brought up the idea of being able to rate the cache you just found? I've been on hunts that the owner said was a 1 and it should be a 5. Or it's rated as a 4 when it should be a 2. Since this type of thing is relative to each individual, if everyone who went on a hunt gave it a rating on difficulty and terrain and then the site averaged them, it would give new hunters a more realistic idea of what they are in for. Just a thought.
