  1. We always get a kick out of seeing the cards, stamps, and other sig items of cachers we know. "Aaaah...<soandso> has been here!" What drives me nuts is when a cacher attaches their signature item to someone else's TB. There's someone in my neck of the woods that does that, and to me that's like claiming ownership of that item. The first time I saw this particular person's wooden nickel on a TB, I assumed the TB belonged to that cacher. Would it be wrong of me to then remove the offending item? I know the standard answer would be to ask the TB owner, but then, the offender didn't ask the owner if it was OK to have someone else's name put on their TB in the first place.
  2. I have run into a number of cachers that take their dogs into the field with them whenever possible, and I'm one of them. I'd love to see Groundspeak produce some gear for them--maybe some Geo-dogtags? or a Groundspeak leash? Are there any other owners of geo-dogs out there, that would like to have such gear? thanks, hermione
  3. I looked on Yahoo for a Wisconsin geocaching forum, and didn't find one, so I started one. I have not put any work into the group yet. I wanted to see if there was any interest before I did so. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wi_cache/ Is there someone more interested than I am that would prefer to run such a group? I only started it because I want there to be one and there isn't one. thanks! Hermione
  4. Hi, I am thinking of placing a cache where I work, and the geocachers I talked to this weekend didn't see any problem with it (and even thought it was a cool idea), but because it is at a business, I wanted to double-check whether it's OK before I bother. I am a cartographer in a smallish town, working for a rather large mapping company. It seems the only people in town that know the place exists are people who have known someone who has worked there. The typical geocacher would not be a potential customer. We work mostly with government agencies, such as the USGS and state DOT's. Some of the topo data you use when geocaching may well have been compiled in this building. Since there's no desire here to sell a product--just to point out something geocachers may find cool--is there any breach of etiquette here? Thank you, Hermione
