    Pathtags

I am pretty new at geocaching, but have really enjoyed moving travel bugs and geocoins. I recently came across what I thought was a geocoin, but turned out to be a pathtag. Could someone offer some insight on the purpose of a pathtag and what to do with them. The one I discovered can not be logged through the geocaching website.
  2. Thank you to everyone who posted. There is a lot of good information and ideas.
  3. I use the hybrids myself mostly Sanyo Eneloops or Kodak's The one brand I have had the worst luck with is the Enegerizers. Do you have to have a different changer for each brand of batteries or can you use a universal charger for any brand of rechargeables?
  4. I didn't even think about rechargeable batteries for cameras, good idea.
  5. I just purchased a new Oregon 200 and wanted to know what type of rechargeable batteries work best for GPS units. Does anyone have any suggestions or types that have worked well for them?
  6. Good to know about the NG maps. Do you know why they list Garmin products as supported units? Yes, because you can connect your GPS up to the software and transfer waypoints and the like, just not the maps to the GPS. Thank you for clarifying, I am still new at the game and appreciate all the help I can get.
  7. Good to know about the NG maps. Do you know why they list Garmin products as supported units?
  8. I am looking to purchase a good TOPO map for my new Oregon 200. Right now I am looking at the Garmin 24K TOPO Mountain South (Arizona, New Mexico) and the National Geographic state maps (Arizona). Has anyone had any experience with either or suggestions, considerations, advice?
  9. In what mode are you operating? Compass, map, etc.... In general, you can tap that data field and note that it will ask you to define a new data value to display. I don't know of a way to lock this (hopefully someone does) so it might hop around a bit for you. Anticipating that this topic will be moved to a different forum, please keep an eye on the move I just figured it out. I didn't realize there was a list of map display fields. Thank you so much.
  10. I am using the Map mode. The unit will no long tell me to distance to the cache.
  11. I just purchased a Oregon 200 and took it caching for the first time yesterday and it worked great. I adjusted some basic settings last night and now the distance to the geocache or waypoint does not display. Any ideas on what I may have done?
  12. Thank you guys for the input, I really do appreciate it. I think the only decision I have left is between the Oregon 200 and 300.
  13. My family and I are new at geocaching and just started out with a eTrex Legend. I would like to upgrade to a unit with a high sensitivity receiver and paperless caching. The bells and whistles are not important to me as long as the unit is accurate, user friendly, and as previously mentioned paperless. I have been looking at the Garmin Colorado, Oregon, and Dakota lines. I would like feedback good or bad on specific units in these lines. I will be using the unit exclusively for geocaching, urban and wilderness both.
