  1. Any ideas for #1000 in the Colorado Springs area? The cache needs to be less than a 3 terrain, not a steep climb and less than 5 miles roundtrip as I'm still recovering from a broken leg (from a geocaching accident). #1000 could be a great view, clever hide or a fun hide. Looking forward to hearing your suggestions. Thanks in advance!
  2. No coins. But if you're in Placencia can you stop in and surprise a friend of mine who owns the Blue Crab Resort in Seine Bight? LOL. She's gone geocaching with me a few times and would be happily surprised if a geocacher showed up at her place. She wants geocachers to vist.
  3. Most of the folks who are keen on going have looked into the travel documents since this thread was started a couple of months ago. My passport took 2 weeks (post 9/11) but I would definitely say you should allow at least 6 weeks. Ten months is plenty of time to get the paperwork in order though. For those who have never traveled outside of the USA, don't get stressed about this stuff. Remember, it's an adventure!
  4. It looks like OB Jets found the Brazil APE cache. Congrats! I expect to be able to hike by this summer or early fall so I'm still planning to do this some time between November 2007 and February 2006 for all who are still interested.
  5. Alrighty, once everyone makes a decision can I please have a medal? I'm still recuperating from a broken leg and it's been 15 months now. Maybe the medal should be for continuing to geocache despite the injury. A badge with crutches...rods and screws...bandaids...whatever. I just want SOMETHING okay?
  6. Just received the coins today and they are beautiful! Hsieh, hsieh.
  7. Taiwan was one of a few places I lived during my ahem, *formative* years. Went to Taipei American School for 11th and 12th grades. I still attend the reunions every 3 years. Can't wait to get my coins!
  8. Got mine today. It's headed for Venado Tuerto, Argentina. Interesting history about the city which was founded by the son of two Irish immigrants. Closest cache is about 130 miles away and has yet to be found. Population is less than 100,000 - chances are not many are geocachers! Vamanos amigos!
  9. Gorgeous coin and since I lived in Taiwan you know I gotta have at least one. Ordered two today.
  10. GPSfun. Our New England reviewer. He lives down south but visits us up north.
  11. Unless anyone else wants to add anything I think I'll close this topic and reopen in a few months when we can make more concrete plans.
  12. Hmmmm...well, I just had two of my logs deleted. One was for a DNF for a cache that seems to get muggled often. Thought it would be nice to let the owner know that 3 of us couldn't find the cache so maybe it was missing. He happened to own the other DNF that the 3 of us couldn't find also. I added in that log that it was not really a one terrain and difficult for me to traverse on crutches so I probably wouldn't be back. I wrote an email to the guy and he hasn't responded as of yet. Interestingly, I happened to break my leg at one of this guy's caches one year ago and I still haven't recuperated after two surgeries to reconstruct it. Guess fate is telling me to avoid all XX Eagle caches.
  13. Any of you who want to do the APE cache willing to do others in Brazil?
  14. Correct. Check HERE to see which Brazilian Consular Jurisdiction you fall under. The first link was for the Embassy in D.C. Ob Thanks for the clarification.
  15. No....and the doc wouldn't approve you not taking the pain meds either! Just do what he says alright....you'll escape a world of hurt that way! Trust me, I know. Oh by the way, to keep this a geocaching topic....get well so you can cache somemore? How do you know the doc is a he?
  16. Just interested to hear if anyone has gone geocaching in Belize.
  17. It looks like you can only mail in your visa application if you live in one of the states listed. Am I reading that right?
  18. I'll keep a list of people who want to go. Of course, alot can change in a year so we can do more intense planning next summer. The APE cache will be the pinnacle of the trip (for me anyway) but I'd also like to see some other sights and caches. I know there's at least one cache that hasn't been found and I believe was hidden in 2002. Might be missing but who knows? Also, MinDawg, who lives in CO, has a cache outside of Sao Paulo and that might be worth a trip if it's feasible. If you want to add any travel info or other info about the area please feel free to add it here.
  19. Thanks for the visa info. Looks like we'll need to get visas within 90 days of our trip.
  20. Cheesus Thrak. That's terrible. Really terrible. Sorry to hear that. I used to work on a spinal cord injury unit so I know it's a tough road for someone to face. I was going to have a pity party and complain how I've been recuperating from a broken leg for one year so far but after Thrak's post I really thank my lucky stars it wasn't worse. I've often worried about ending up a para or quadraplegic since my accident.
  21. Thanks for the info JpGPS. Maybe you can give us a few tips on how you did the trip? Loved your logs on the cache page and have to say that they really piqued my interest in doing this cache. It will be an adventure for sure. I hope to see other sights and caches in Brazil while there. I've always wanted to get to So. America so this is a perfect opportunity. As time gets closer, we can do the logistics re: vaccinations, travel documents, travel arrangements etc. Those who are serious about going should get a passport months before the anticipated trip if you don't already have one.
  22. If enough go we could probably get a better air fare.
  23. Great! I'm thinking late 2007 or early 2008.
