  1. I should imagine it is the same as here in the UK. GPS jammers are not in their own right illegal, however most transmitters must be licensed unless in certain frequency ranges and power outputs. Hence a wi-fi router is legal (power and frequency), yet the doohickeys you put on an MP3 player to have them come through the car radio are illegal (frequency) same applies for CB radios that put out more than 4w (power).
  2. Dangerously dependent on a whole lot of systems. Never mind the GPS unit in the police car/ambulance whatever, the radio systems now in use by the emergency services rely on the mobile phone network, their vehicles rely on oil, their control rooms rely on electricity, the list of technologies that are relied upon is endless, GPS is kind of low on the list. Want to confine to to say aircraft? well then TCAS is just as easy to disrupt, and even worse, different parts of the world rely on that ssytem in different ways, so it is already a great potential danger, some nations teach pilots to obey TCAS over air traffic control, where others teach the other way round. Yet more slow news day scaremongering.
  3. Log out and back into your account and you should see the change. I have a few times, but no change I wonder if it could be because it would not be a 30 day extension but a full upgrade as I have not been here or paid in quite a while?
  4. I tried this, IE7 sort of worked, said my membership had been upgraded and expired 01/01/0001. My main profile page still says basic member and of course cannot do gpx files:(
  5. BasicGPS (pretty sure its linked to from the software page) and Vito Navigator both provide this function. www.basicgps.co.uk http://www.brothersoft.com/vito-navigator-ii-103553.html I used to use vito many moons ago, but having long since lost registration codes I have switched to Basic now, which also handles my logging of finds, includes the descriptions, hints etc ETA. Basicgps also has a rather nice audio ranging function, used with earphones or a bluetooth headset it makes hunting in areas with high muggle concentrations much more discreet, and when approaching a cache by car the countdown is useful there too. Changed vito link as it appears the authors no longer publish it on their website
  6. Just done our first, with an htc something-or-other branded as Orange SPV M700. Been using it for years with MM for greenlaning in the 4x4, tomtom to get us along the main roads, and now got us straight to our first cache. Keeping it charged in the car has meant never any trouble for us, rather than the GPS I find the backlight is what kills the battery (unless using it as a modem/phone, then expect no battery life at all)
