  1. We'd be happy to keep an eye on thigs. I would prefer if the cache remains listed as you being the owner, but we would be happy to check on it's status and do any upkeep that might be needed. Scott Team My Blue Heaven
  2. I had a cache not long ago that I posted while visiting family in Idaho. Even though I felt it was a great cache, it was denied. After a few e-mails between the approver and myself, I convinced him that it was a good virtual cache and he went ahead and approved it. It has become a popular cache with some real historical significance. My point in this is that you can always e-mail the person who did not approve it and plead the case of your cache, if the cache is worthwhile.
  3. quote:Originally posted by Elias:The pricing change hasn't happened yet. As long as your subscription is current at the time of the increase, you'll be grandfathered in at the current rate. -Elias That is good news. I don't auto pay anything in my life, and while I use paypal for many things, I don't trust them to allow auto pay. I am very glad to hear that as long as I keep current the price will stay grandfathered
  4. Welcome aboard. You might want to check out www.azgeocaching.com and sign up for the listserv. It is a somewhat active list and there are lots of people there that would be happy to help out.
  5. You might want to confirm this, but I am pretty sure that the North Rim doesn't re-open until sometime in April. It might be late March, but it sould like you could be cutting it close. They close it each winter. I have been to both a few times, and the North Rim is much nicer IMHO, but others prefer the South. If both are open, I would consider doing both, but remember, it take quite a few hours to travel between the two.
  6. I have always left our DNF logs after we went back and found the cache. Along those lines, the only thing that has made me really mad was that I had a DNF log, as well as DNF logs by a number of other cachers, deleted by the cache hider because they didn't want their cache to have any negative comments. I have also had a found log deleted for no reason that I really can figure out, but it didn't upset me nearly as bad as having the DNF deleted.
  7. This is a real growing problem in Arizona after that terrible article in the Arizona Republic. Are you a member of the azgeocahing.com listserve? If not, you might want to join and post your experience there. Lots of other people going through the same thing.
  8. Thanks for taking the time to find our Beyond a Prickly Cache. It has amazed me since I placed that one, which I did after finding A Prickly Cache, how many people will find Prickly but not go on to Beyond a Prickly. The road is actually pretty good, and even at that it wouldn't be that far of a walk. I am also glad that you found one of our keychains. Having those made up was one of the smarter things we have done, we get a lot of positive feedback on them. I do plan on getting down your way and finding some caches. Probably make a weekend of it.
  9. If you are going to be at BOB, you must get G-O BOB.
  10. quote:Originally posted by Seth!:Hi! I'm going to be in the Tucson area this weekend and early next week. I'll be bringing a few Travel Bugs. I would _love_ to swap TBs while I am there. So if you have one just hanging around and want to drop it into a Tucson area geocache, that would be great. Here is a http://seth.dynip.com/tucson.htm that I'll be hunting. I don't know that I'll get to all of them, but as many as I can. Feel free to comment on any particularly nice hunts, by the way. See you soon! Seth! http://www.geocachingwa.org Hope you have a good time in Tucson. I just got back from spending 3 weeks in North Idaho. BTW, thanks for getting Upee back moving again.

  12. We were in Vegas this past November. There are a number of virtual caches along the strip, and there was even a micro or two in the area. We also hit all of the caches that were out in the Red Rock Canyon area. It was one of our favorite days geocaching since we started. You do need a car to get out there, but if there is anyway at all you can get out to Red Rock Canyon, you won't be dissapointed.
  13. It is nice to see a little traffic here. Seems that this section is always dominated by the California cachers. Part of that might be due to the success of azgeocaching.com. For those that don't know, there is a fairly active listserv there, and you can also download Arizona specific files and stats. Don't want to sound like an ad for them, but it is a great web page, and the listserv has some great people on it.
  14. quote:Originally posted by Goldmember:I am looking for someone willing to place a travel bug in Arizona. I am in Minnesota and have family coming for the holidays and would send the TB home with them (they are not geocachers) for the drop off. They live in Fountain Hills. The TB’s journey consists of getting to Florida but I figure if he can get somewhere warm it would be a plus. Please feel free to e-mail me at goldmember@creditriverkennels.com) I'm in Tucson so it wouldn't be very practical for me, but there are a lot of geocachers in the Phoenix area that I am sure would be happy to help. You might want to check out www.azgeocaching.com and ask the question on the listserv. You won't have any trouble at all finding someone. Scott
  15. quote:Originally posted by azgoldhunter:I signed up today. Then went out and found 2 caches in my area. How do I let people know I found them and that I replaced them with new items in them? Happy Tracking Delbert Welcome to geocaching. I don't know if you are aware of it or not, but there is a website and listserve dedicated to Arizona. Check out www.azgeocaching.com if you are interested.
  16. quote:Originally posted by Team Gizmo:I am allowing each loco to be logged more than once...and there are at least 3 other locationless caches that are mobile. One where you log the Wienermobile, one where you log the Hershey KissMobile and one where you log a yellow jeep. By the way, there are 13 Wienermobiles and they are ALL mobile. ------------------------------ Team Gizmo "Honk if your horn is broken!" My answer is a little jaded since I really don't like locationless caches. The admins changed the rules for locationless caches some time ago, and those caches that were approved before the change were allowed to remain. I agree with some of the others though, I would much rather find them as a series of virtual caches instead of a locationless. Scott
  17. quote:Originally posted by C-Troop:Can anyone tell me if there are any caches in Vegas that are close to the strip? I am doing a vegas trip next week and would like to hit a few, but I would prefer that they be close to the strip since Im not sure if we are doing the rental car thing. Thanks C-Troop We just got back from Vegas and had a great time geocaching. I would suggest doing the rental car thing and heading out to Red Rock Canyon. There are about a half dozen caches out there that are easy to drive/hike to with a passenger car. The scenery out there is amazing as well. Scott
  18. I have a military MULE in desert cammo. Have only had it out on a couple trips so far, but I am very happy with it. Enough room to hold a GPSR, GMRS radio, compass and gloves in one pocket and cache trinkets in the other.
  19. My first unit was a 315, which I still have, but upgraded to a SporTrak Pro. The north finder on the 315 is pretty handy. I have used it a number of times and it seems to be accurate enough. As for the 315, I love mine. There are still things about it that I prefer over the newer SporTrak. Scott
  20. I am really curious if anyone else is having the problem with ExpertGPS that I am having. When running ExpertGPS under Windows XP, either Home or Pro, the map downloads are VERY slow. I have high speed internet and have tried plugging in another computer that is dual boot with 98 and ME. Both of those operating systems seem to work just fine, but ExpertGPS under XP is un-usable for anything other than uploading waypoints to my GPSR. I have installed the new beta version to fix the problem with the map data, but it didn't do anything to help the download speed of the map data itself. Everything else that I do on the internet downloads very fast. I have contacted EXpertGPSs tech support about this, and they say that no one else has reported this problem. I also realize that they have been pretty busy with the map data problems, but I really like ExpertGPS and don't want to change to something else. (the maps for US Photo Maps load fine, I just don't care for the program). Please let me know if you have had this problem, or if you have fixed it. Scott
  21. A cache was placed very close to the first cache that I hid. At first I was a little concerned about the placement so close to my cache, but after looking at the area a little more, I think the caches really compliment each other nicely. My cache is at the end of a nice little hike that most people could make. The other cache is at the end of a hike that most people will not want to make. It makes for a nice cache outing for a day. I want people to find my caches, if there is another cache close by, it improves the chances that people will take the time to find them both. Scott
  22. I have been using ExpertGPS for quite awhile now, and I love it. It is strange though, over the last week or so I have noticed that downloading the map data is taking a very long time. Almost to the point of being un-useable.

  24. You might want to take a look at www.azgeocaching.com We have a great listserv for Arizona and you can join it from that website. Scott Team My Blue Heaven
  25. I have been using 3.15 since it came out with no troubles at all. Infact, it added new life into the old unit. I couldn't be happier with that version. Scott
