  1. Yes, I had been experiencing that phenomenon too, since the lastest ‘upgrade’. I too had found it equally tiresome and user-unfriendly but had assumed it was a new ‘feature’ that I was simply going to have to get used to. If it’s equally annoying to others and is perhaps an unintentional addition (and you guys can get the pages to stop doing it), then please do.
  2. I experience the problem of not being able to edit a text box on my iPad which is running iPadOS version 17.4.1 and I’m using Safari. I have been unable to independently verify which specific version of Safari I am using but the Internet tells me that the iPadOS version 17 blah blah blah tells anyone who needs to know that I am using Safari 17. let’s hope that’s true! If you need more information and can tell me where I can find it, please let me know. Completely bizarrely, I’ve just tried Car54’s weird tip of holding the device in portrait orientation - and that works to enable iPad editing. Obviously something’s not quite right that you have to rotate your device to make something work but it’s a good temporary workaround until you guys fix it. Thanks for the update thus far that you’re working on fixing the formatting problems which gives me hope that you’re not about to do away with text boxes on lists altogether. I appreciate any updates you can give from time to time.
  3. No response or acknowledgment from HQ in the two weeks since this was raised. Please can someone respond even if it’s only to say “we’re looking in to it”, or more disappointingly “we don’t want you to use text boxes in list entries any more”. A new problem emerged today with list items; Trying to edit a text box on a mobile device is now impossible. I can click on the pencil icon and the box appears as if for editing but as soon as I click in to the box, it disappears as if I had not clicked on the pencil. I’m currently away from home with only an iPad to try it on so at present can’t say if this is across multiple device types and or browsers.
  4. Hi there It depends... To answer the actual question, there aren't any IN the airport but "within walking distance" is a bit subjective (depends on how far and how fast you can walk) and you don't say how long your layover is for. In addition, you haven't mentioned which terminal you're coming in to (there are 5 of them, some more than a mile from the others) so it would be hard to say without knowing more but with the info you've given, I'd say there are - but only technically. Read on... I've looked on the map and popped a query in to GSAK. I've limited it to trads, as puzzles, multis etc could be further out and it comes up with 35 Trads within a 2 mile radius of the central Terminals (1, 2 & 3). Can you walk to them? Well, I'm not local to the airport so I Googled it and it doesn't look promising I'm afraid. Everything I've found suggests Terminals 1, 2, & 3 have NO pedestrian access. There is a free transit service to Termials 4 or 5, but from there, you'd have to ignore a few signs prohibiting pedestrians and be walking along fast and busy highways with no pavements. The general consensus appears to be that walking out of the airport is "not ideal and not recommended". Now if you have time to get on the Tube and go one or two stops along, to any of the outlying tube stations, you're golden!
  5. From this morning (13th March 2024) the text box within individual list items on bookmark lists no longer formats correctly in that each 'new line' is now not being recognized by the browser. This results in one (incredibly) long line of text a bit like some sort of 'stream-of- consciousness' . Is contrast to the text with line breaks, this change is making each text box virtually unreadable. It doesn't seem to be a fault with a specific browser as it's happening with Windows on both Chrome and Firefox, and on Apple with Safari. For example, this is what it should look like: "MULTI - Fine Pair # 1800 ~ Stanmer GET 2 FROM HERE N 50° 52.234 W 000° 06.083 P&D car park looking at the postbox collect the following information. Last Collection Time: - Monday to Friday: - A:00am Saturday: - B:00am The Last Collection in the Area: - C:00pm from DE North Road . N 50 5(C-D).(D+E)(B-C)(B-E) W 0 0(C-E).(E*E)(D/E)(D+E) . MICRO / magnetic." From this morning, ON SCREEN ONLY, it now looks like this: "MULTI - Fine Pair # 1800 ~ Stanmer GET 2 FROM HERE N 50° 52.234 W 000° 06.083 P&D car park looking at the postbox collect the following information. Last Collection Time: - Monday to Friday: - A:00am Saturday: - B:00am The Last Collection in the Area: - C:00pm from DE North Road . N 50 5(C-D).(D+E)(B-C)(B-E) W 0 0(C-E).(E*E)(D/E)(D+E) . MICRO / magnetic." As well as documenting my progress for challenge caches I also use list item text boxes for parking details, multi info and formulae etc on caching day trips. I might have 50 caches and 50 different locations to visit on one trip, so I would normally print something like this to guide me during the day. When I go to print the list with all that crucial info, the text box disappears completely (as if it's a mobile device display) and all I'm left with is the bookmark list showing each title of the list entries themselves. It means I can no longer use bookmark lists to help me plan my caching trips
  6. The map can be found here. https://gcwiki.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/GEO/pages/525103/UK+Regional+Map Generally UK geocaching regions correspond to the county boundaries of their constituent counties. If you know which county your location is in, it's easy to pick the right region.
  7. Once you've found someone willing to take them on, go to THIS Geocaching > Adopt a Listing page, which will take you through the very straightforward process for adoption.
  8. I'll second that. It's great to have it working properly again as it's so useful. Thank you 2Abendsegler
  9. @2Abendsegler I tired all of the above with no success. My friend subsequently deleted the installation of Chrome, Tampermonkey, Greasy Fork and all ad blockers and other scripts then re-installed Chrome and I was able to get an old version of GME (with some functions missing) to work for about 10 minutes, which then stopped working completely after that time. Bizarre. Over the last 3 days, my friend has completely wiped my laptop and reinstalled Windows 10 from scratch. With a brand-new clean installation and nothing else on it (no scripts or ad blockers), he installed the newest version of GME as the first and only 'extra', which has given me some limited functions of it on Edge. He's forbidden me to use Chrome now as he doesn't like its tracking across the internet. I do now get the blue line and green tick on the mini map I still don't get the blue line and tick (nor any waypoints) on the larger map. I'm approximately back to where I started albeit that I now have some functions on the mini map working which weren't before. It doesn't appear to provide everything you describe but I'm still grateful for your help and your continued interest in the script to help maintain it.
  10. @2Abendsegler Thank you so much for your kind attempts to help and the comprehensive set of instruction, which we had no difficulty in understanding. Unfortunately, while we were able to carry out every step as you described on the two Chromium-based browsers installed on my PC (Chrome and Edge), GME is still not working for me. We: - checked that there were no 'old' scripts still installed - checked that there were no additional script managers still installed - deleted the local storage in the consoles on both Chrome and Edge using your instructions and received the 'true' confirmation message each time and yet when I refreshed the browse map there was still no GME icon palette and, as before, no indication at all that any extension was installed, even after closing and restarting each browser. local storage deletion confirmation only one script installed in TamperMonkey still no GME icons or functionality If it helps at all, my machine is running - Windows 10 Home version 22H2 (19045.2486) - Google Chrome 109.0.5414.75 - Microsoft Edge 109.0.1518.55 I think my best course of action is to get my friend to re-install windows on my laptop from scratch as and when he has the time to do it.
  11. I asked my tame SYSADMIN to install the new script and sadly I saw no change. An hour or so later, GME stopped working entirely and he had to remove it and all scripts.I now have no GME facility at all. He says this may be a problem with WINDOWS (although GME is the only thing which doesn't work at all now) and the only thing he can suggest is to rebuild my laptop completely, now. I will let you know what happens when he does this and I start again from scratch.
  12. The screen shot I have attached is one of my own archived puzzles on which I HAVE adjusted the co-ords. Have used this one so as not to give the game away on other COs' puzzles. This is using the browser screen combo noted above on a laptop where the larger map DOES show the GME map options - but not the blue line or green tick. The selection of various maps (including Ordnance Survey) which should appear in the top right hand corner does not appear at all. The map which is selected is some weird version of an open source map which has yellow footpaths which I'm not used to, or familiar with and is not the same as the larger map. The icon at the original location does not appear. The blue line from original location to adjusted location does not appear. The green tick showing me which is the adjusted location does not appear.
  13. Hello there I am unable to get your (JimJinks) patch to work on my laptop running Tampermonkey 4.18.1 on Google Chrome 107.0.5304.123 on Windows 10. I am seeing the word 'Leaflet' at the bottom of my mini map. I have also tried to add 2Abendsegler's patch which has given me some additional functionality on the larger map (the buttons at the bottom left of the map now show pictures on them, as opposed to before when I simply had to remember what each button did) but that hasn't improved the mini map. I have tried disabling all other Tampermonkey scripts. Here is a sample URL of a page with the non-working mini map https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC8BEHV_exercise-in-geekdom-no-18?guid=753d71b3-6925-4dee-8429-06bff18f3c89
  14. I’m following the recent posts to this thread with huge interest. Like Flying Kiwi, my mini map lost its GME compatibility some months ago and it’s a huge pain as I use that little map all the time. In addition, I always found the blue line with secondary icon (and green tick) immensely helpful when plotting adjusted cache locations and nowadays it doesn’t appear on either the mini map or the larger map. If anyone can help me restore the missing blue line/green tick combo on either or both maps, it would make such a difference and I’d be very grateful. Equally, I’d like to get the mini map back to its previous format where I can select ordnance survey, etc. too.
  15. I use Garmin GPS Export (https://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=7745&st=60&#entry270112) which does it, as an aside and displays it on my GPSr in the form of an 'extra' log, which it creates as it exports the file (it also shows other really useful info like any personal cache note I may have made where I might have recorded the hint for the hide). It doesn't specifically display it alongside the cache name as you requested, though. So if that bit is important, hopefully someone else who knows of a useful macro, will help you. Or you can look through the macro library here: https://gsak.net/board/MacroIndex.php or ask on the GSAK forum.

  17. When trying to view a photo on a log, this error message has been appearing fairly frequently for the last few weeks and what started out as a minor inconvenience has now become a very annoying feature. It started to appear intermittently some weeks ago but over the last fortnight, has appeared every time I try to view a photo, direct from a log entry. There seems to be nothing wrong with the photos themselves as it is still possible to view the item by going the long way round through 'view gallery'. but it's a lengthier option and more time-consuming. It's clearly an error message so needs to be fixed, now, I think. I'm using Chrome and Windows 10.
  18. I'm in now,... for the time being anyway. Thank you.
  19. Yes it's now gone from very slow to STOP. It's kicked me out and WON'T let me log back in, telling me that my username and/or password are incorrect (which they're not). Let's hope it's fixed quickly.
  20. The first stage is to identify someone willing to take over responsibility for the caches. If you get a reply on this thread, go to this link to start the process to transfer the caches to them. https://www.geocaching.com/adopt/
  21. Same thing happening for me, have tried using different browsers on several devices using both Chrome and Firefox. Hope this gets sorted quickly as my PQ map of solved puzzles is my starting point to plan a caching trip and am really stuck without it.
  22. Yes it does... https://www.cacherstats.com/cgi-bin/RankingList.pl Although project-GC will also do the job for you!
  23. The thing is, Wendy, GME isn't an official part of the geocaching website. It's an add-on which jri kindly created for all of us who love it... and it sits on top of the official site. Like thousands of other geocaching add-ons do. The 'they' you mention (who make the changes) don't - and won't - test for compatibility with every possible add-on out there, because it's not part of their job to do that (and wouldn't be practical or possible). GME is not part of their company, their business or their web site and is simply something extra we use and have because we find it useful (and brilliant).
  24. Don't give up hope! The CO in question is still actively caching and placing new caches. He has a very very high (really huge!) number of caches so as you say, he may be busy, or more likely, he's probably just forgotten. A polite second request might be in order, perhaps starting with, "I'm sorry to bother you again about this..." or I "hope you don't mind me asking again about..." and including "I can appreciate how busy you must be" or ""I really appreciate you taking the time to collect my TB." Good luck .
