  1. For excellent maps and aerial photographs of the Etekwini Municipality look at http://citymaps.durban.gov.za. After the first page has loaded click on "new maps". The photos are a bit old - but still fascinating to view.
  2. Its the speed of your internet connection that's crucial. At work we have a very fast connection and so it loads quite fast. I find it extremely fascinating. Having a lot of RAM of course means that you can get on with other things while it loads the images.
  3. I downloaded this programme a few weeks ago and since then I haven't done any work. I just play with this programme. It is fantastic. Its very heavy on resources though, and already I've built up a 2,8GB cache. Be warned!
  4. Come caching here in South Africa - the whole country is dangerous.
  5. I'm coming over to London for a few days in July (from South Africa) and would like to find a couple of caches while there. I would appreciate some assistance in people letting me know which caches are available in the London area. Thanks.
  6. Take the wife along with you - like I do - hoping she'll fall over a cliff or something - lol - just joking!
  7. Thanks to all of you who responded. I will be travelling from the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere soon and I thought it would be great to see on the GPS when exactly one crosses the equator, and see the reading change from S to N. I apologise that I hadn't looked more closely at the FAQs on this topic - but its always nice to read direct posts
  8. This has probably been asked before, but I couldn't find it in the FAQ, so what I want to know is, can one use one's GPS on a commercial airplane to see when you are crossing the equator for example? Is it allowed by the airline authorities? If one is allowed to use it, does the signal from the satellites penetrate the fusilage? I have noticed with some motor cars that the bodywork interferes with reception. In other cars it isn't a problem.
  9. I'm so glad I read through these postings. I have an old Magellan 315 and didn't know about pressinmg the goto key and then editing the co-ords of my present position there. I have always had to edit an existing waypoint - thereby losing that particular waypoint. thanks a lot guys.
