  1. start up it freezes, zoom in or out of the map or move the map on screen, it freezes starting now to look for a roll back as i think they will freeze on an update too.
  2. i drive for a living anyway so driving at weekends too, hmmmmmm
  3. im in the uk and my essentials are spare batteries torch foldaway emergency map and foil sheet in case we stranded 10m of paracord water and some chocolate spare pencils hand disinfectant first aid kit antihistimine cream (in first aid kit) extenable aerial with mirror on end and one with a magnet on the end a swiss army credit card tool think thats about it.
  4. im looking, but not sure yet as ill be hospitalised the day before for an op so doubt i be allowed to drive for 24-48 hours.
  5. ive found business cards in some of my caches and those have disapeared rather quickly when i found them. my daughter has now pretty much gone off caching for two reasons, a:micros b: calling cards. she said its not that fun when all you can find are laminate cards and mouldy cards and tb's hidden under everything. caches should be clean with everything easily seen once opened, not filled up with rubbish that falls everywhere when you take the lid off.
  6. trying to find the thread (i beleive its in this section) where members list where in the world they are and are willing to accept peoples trackables to be sent to them where they will release them. it was some kind of directory, but i cant no longer find it.
  7. that you have caches stored on your sat nav and keep watching out for them as you drive about. that you also hold up your bosses lunchbox and shout "FTF" lol
  8. we still umming really we want to go to shropshire, but devon is calling as we want to get the puzzle cache we failed on down there as with no phone reception where we were to check on a few things), but hey ho and all that. counting down now to the 3rd of september and 7 days away. ps we looking at doing a day trip to london too.
  9. ive had a lot of my tb's and coins do this recently, people either pick and drop off without logging, or pick it up and dont log where they drop it, has been a headache trying to trace their whereabouts.
  10. Whenever I have a cache published I always send a thank you email to my local reviewer thanking him for his time, i know they are unpaid and basically charity workers (or a labour of love) and that their time is valuable. People are always quick to moan, but how many are ever quick to thank people for their time and positive action(s).
  11. taken out my eye brow and striaght underneath my eye one night with a broken tree branch as i fell down a rabbit/fox hole searching for the cache.
  12. im always happy to have tb's etc sent to me to place out.
  13. i have, my first one http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=1753174 made its way from the lake district back to me, ok i had to pick it up from a cache 15 miles from me but that was because little one was getting impatient. its now back off in ireland to do the same thing again. also have http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=2192124 it overshot us and ended up in the next county but soon got it back to place it back out again, however my third one was picked up and is in the hands of whoever picked it up and hasnt been seen since, have contacted the cacher but no replies.
  14. ive found if its pm or open to all its going to be treated the same, thus why i dont bother with pm caches no more, even through i thought they would be treated with better respect i.e. swaps swapped for equal or more value and not just taken. but on another point my partner and daughter both have their own accounts but only i have premium, this then means if we go out and do some premium caches they cannot log them (be nice if Groundspeak could link family accounts).
  15. i know a few officers that are geocachers, if i ran into an officer who didnt understand it i would point them in the direction of one of the officers who i know is a cacher.
  16. just start up a facebook page "geocachingessex" and let local cacher owners know, they will no doubt know other cachers and that way you can get to find other cachers close to you.
  17. if you are looking for somewhere, a place called Birchcombe Farm, near Wantage in Oxfordshire. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=4476 its five minutes from me and we have camped there so we can recommend it. Its also pretty cheap and do cream teas at weekends. There is 442 caches within a 10 mile radius of the campsite or 90 within a five mile radius, postcode for the place is SN7 7QJ if you want to have a look and is about an hour from london, bristol and southampton.
  18. found map takes time to redraw (garmin os map), compass playing up and slow. on 300.
  19. never burn off a tick, i was told years ago to burn them off but in fact they will heave up their stomach contents and push it straight into your blood stream and dieases like lymes could be caught. there are many good tick remover devices out there, but after seeing how clean and quick the tick removal was done by the farmer recently i think i will stick to that method.
  20. just loaded it onto my 300 so will see over the next week or two if its any good.
  21. how far is telford and ironbridge from the camp meet? Same as he said CORNWALL i was thinking cornwall too for the numbers
  22. we just got back from devon and whilst down there the dog had again got ticks, we spoke to the local farmer who ran the camp site and he kindly removed the ticks for us and for no fee (and wouldnt accept anything either) we asked him how he did it and he told us to get hold of the tick twist to right and pull down and you will get it out whole and before it can push anything into the dog. we have a tick tool but he said it was easier to do it without (maybe as he is so experienced).
  23. ok we did sussex, hampshire and devon this week. But we looking for places to cache in september when we are both off again, looking for nice cache routes with many to choose from and places to stay (camping). We had some good recommendations for sussex last time we asked on here so do look forward to your recommendations again. Places we looking at is east sussex, kent, surrey, shropshire and possibly places that fellow cachers recommend.
  24. we just got back from down there, the hills were hillier than we thought and minitext (12 years old) did struggle with many including a few dnf's where we had to abandon because she just couldnt do it (we did it as a family) we also did a cave one but found the wrong one and no cache, but im going to go back at some point and re attempt it myself as it looks worth while. Great fun, but very hard work, now looking for places for september. oh and if you are looking for somewhere to stay down there (camping) look up hillslake farm which is run by the people who use to run cloud farm, cheap place, nice views, excellent shower facilities and camp fires allowed.
