  1. I am wondering if the free official app has that kind of functionality. I know that it can search for the three nearest caches, but I am not sure if it can let you plug in individual coords (like a new waypoint) to find a random spot. If they became familiar with that then it wouldn't be a far leap to the full out app.
  2. I usually carry the Left Hand Pod Slingpack. I find that it has enough room for my camera, GPS, water, batteries, a little bit of first aid and even a few extra pens. More than enough for an average day of caching.I find that it just frees up my hands to get in there but without enough weight to have a noticeable effect on my stamina.
  3. I never would have considered that angle. I can only imagine the outcry from long time members that have a dozen PMO caches within their history, when they are snatched away from record. I think that would be an ugly scene, but the strategy is very clever.
  4. I would agree that this is the least important reason for paying for a membership. The pot has been sweetened in many other, more positive ways than segregation.
  5. Ouch. That seems like a very unfair scenario, but we do have to keep perspective. It is Groundspeak's website and they can dictate how we use it. Just because they have allowed members to log PMO caches in the past, there is nothing that says that they can't change that rule. I hope they don't, but that is just feelings on the matter.
  6. Give it a try and see what happens. All emails have ip addresses associated with them and can be tracked. Drop a film canister out there and see if this is bark or if there is bite.
  7. FTF and geocaching are not the same thing. They are both a part of the same hobby; they are one and the same for me. I also didn't say they were the same, but that they can be done for the same reasons. its not part of the game geocaching does not promote ftf Really? A: Every cache has an FTF unless it hasn't been found. B: This! Bwahahahaahahahahaahahahhaaaaa!! Just getting back up to speed on this thread and this killed me. What better way to promote something than to sell swag with your mascot on it?!? Yup FTFs are definitely not promoted by Groundspeak or GC.com!
  8. It is showing fine now, but it caught me off guard at first.
  9. Built in toolkit. Tweezers, pliers, uv light. You know, the staples.
  10. Couldn't agree more and can you go for every FTF you want provided your effort meets guidelines. If I want to. Just like searching older caches I may not be successful.
  11. Which is fine. My reason for geocaching is to have fun and detox from my day to day life, to enjoy the outdoors and get to use some creativity. I get to do that finding 10 year old caches and running for FTFs.
  12. We are speaking about motivation. What's yours?
  13. FTF and geocaching are not the same thing. They are both a part of the same hobby; they are one and the same for me. I set out to find an eight year old cache. You rush when it'd two hours old so let's not pretend. For which we both get a smiley. You might want a little more perspective.

  15. Lol, you no what they say about opinions? Them and belly buttons have one big thing in common. You totally sound like the muggles in my family when I explain Geocaching. So what do you get? What is the reward? Why do you do it? The same reasons you geocache. It makes a person feel good at a level that a hobby should. It really doesn't need to be more complicated than that. Whether or not it is an official aspect of our game doesn't matter, it is an active portion for many of your fellow geocachers.
  16. From what I understand about this cache that 595' is elevation. The coordinates have to do with the X and Y axis but don't deal with the Z. The altitude is never a part of that bit of information, nice of the CO to let you know what is happening though. Sounds like a tricky one, for sure.
  17. Yup, no matter where you make sweet love you can get notifications of newly published caches. Here is how you do it and here is where you do it.
  18. I thought if you just put in the found date that it would fall in line. In all likelihood the last of the day, but it would still keep your find order.
  19. If you are having fun geocaching, then you are doing it right. It is all open within the confines of that statement. I used to bring a lot of notes with me and now love to digitize it all, but that is what I like. I think the great thing about geocaching is that you can add your personality and strengths to it, room for just about everything.
  20. Bwahahaahahahahahahaa!! That's hilarious... You're kidding right? "Good geocaching citizen", nice.
