  1. I use the U.S version of the 120, I have full access to the GMRS frequencies, unfortunatly I just don't know of anyone with those frequencies I can talk to.. It's lonly at the top..
  2. This is the answer I was looking for.. Thank you.. Decision made.
  3. Thanks, this helps, now speaking from a budget perspective, which should come first?
  4. Can I operate both on my GPS? Obviouslly not at the same time, but will it hold both?
  5. Apparently these are my only options, I don't have a problem with that.. Topo, MetroGuide. ( I live in Canada) But I don't know what they are exactly.. I am new to this and need a map, better than what was preloaded in My Rino 120. I will be using it for basic directions as well as on the water and in the bush.. I am also interested in being able to locate campsites and gas station with this software, apparently both do that.. Does one supply more information that the other? Any experiences? Please help.. Pyd!
  6. True, but it is easier than than it sounds. Each time you "key" the Rino the data is transmitted, also, the data can be sent with a button dedicated to data transmision. Pyd!
  7. I don't know what area you're in, but it is listed at Navicache as "Heffley Lake Cache"...just Northeast of Kamloops, BC. A little far for me, I am in Ontario.. Thats unfortunate, it has appeal.
  8. Thanks for the suggestion Larry, but this cache is already placed on an Island. The rest of the Lake area is either privately owned property or hellish forest that is almost impenetrable! We placed this cache as a tribute to an area that we have been visiting for the past ten years, this year was the TENTH anniversary of our first visit...the Island has sentimental value, hence the reason we chose it as the hiding spot. The entire point is moot now anyways...after the way I've been treated, even if the decision is reversed, I won't list it here. It is listed elsewhere. An island Eh? Well sounds like fun to me! I for one hope this gets approved, this is right up our alley.. You say it is listed elsewhere? I would be interested in knowing where, I am not big on forums for this reason, but I am big on an island related hunt.. I am not familiar with what is going on here but if all this is being left in the hands of one person that is far from being a "moderating team" it is a dictatorship. No decision that affects many should be made by an individual. It's only my opinion.. Pyd!
  9. What a rush! We spent the afternoon on the boat, at 9:30pm we headed out in search of our first cache.. We got it! My wife was sceptical about the whole concept, before long I couldn't get the gps out of her hand! The two of us with my 2 year old son and 8 mth old daughter all armed with flashlights landed our first cache.. It was the first part of a 2 part hunt, the second was too late even for these troopers. Tomorrow we set out to continue the journey..
  10. Going to pick up my Gps this morning, I have my ammo box ready to go, my laptop is loaded with coordinates, my Avalanche is full of gas and thanks to the friendly people here I stand a bit of a chance of understanding just what it is I am about to embark on.. Pyd!
  11. Im not sure what this sentence says or means but if it means He's sending out copies for trial purposes, then I too would be interested, just until this problem is fixed though..
  12. Here's mine.. Sorta dirty though.. It's an 03 Z-71 (Black) Avalanche
  13. I would like a converter that would accept a coordinate in any format and allow you you cycle between the format options.. Im sure it's out there I just don't know what the terminology is for a good google search.
  14. Thats some good stuff.. Thanks! Now all I need is a converter based on the palm platform.
  15. This helps, alot.. Thank you.. Now about a reference site.. Anyone know of any? It would help if I got to see all this wonderful information on a comparitive basis..
  16. I am having a hard time with coordinates, I am using mappoint and it seems to be using a format that looks like this: 42.60555 81.76293 Now, in this site I see they are different, they look like this: N 43° 10.948 W 080° 42.623 I am sure this is a simple thing to figure out, I am just hitting a wall. Is there any good reference out there to help me understand this? Is there a standard? Help!
