  1. I have a Garmin 400t GPS for sale... I used it for 1 summer of geocaching.... the arthritis just got so bad in my knees I gave up caching. Comes with USA maps quick start instructions and usb cord. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Garmin-Oregon-400t-Handheld-GPS-3-Touchscreen-Geocache-Geocaching-/110814155752?pt=GPS_Devices&hash=item19cd09d3e8#ht_6220wt_1344 (Heads up for my Geocaching pals... if you make an offer of $250 you will win this auction.) 2. Just an update....I called garmin and they where very helpful but I ended up lying to them and felt very bad. They wanted to know about it being registered to someone else so I gave them my 'Uncles' name that gifted it to me...( ok so the total stranger I bought it from on ebay) and it wasnt registered to him either...yikes...so now I am thinking what if the guy stole it or found it or who knows what! Garmin says it is still under warranty till July so to send it in to them and they will get it all fixed up for me. He had me hook the GPS up to the computer and he did a remote check on it to make sure the files where not there...and he said so many where gone I would have to send it in...sigh. Guess that I what I get for such a "good DEAL! Jonelle
  3. I do setup/Map/Map Information/ and it takes me to a page of empty rocks...lol. Nothing... So I will give them a call...
  4. I purchased an oregon400t from someone on ebay and when I start it up there is not map at all in there. Just white screen behind my markers. I was wondering if anyone else that has a 400t might be able to give me an idea of what I need to has some maps on this thing. I am not techie at all and my cache mate is out on a business trip. I looked around the Garmin site and tried to register it but this guy had already done that, so I couldnt. He said it still had a one year warranty on it so I figured he had not registered it. Ok...I know I probably could really complain but I do like it. Do they normally come with a disk of some sort? I did get the USB cord and instruction book that mentions an internal map. When I tap the map button it is white screen with blue arrow... Any words of help would be appreciated... jojo
  5. I saw this thread and had to break down and ask.... with the new format how the heck does a person find a newly released cache!!!! GEEEZZZZ I hate change! I am searching all over for newly released caches and cant seem to figure where they have hid them!
  6. What a great deal! I LOVE It! Thank you so much for offering this up on the site! I had to set it down to post this! I am a very HAPPY CAMPER now! Jonelle aka jojojousa
  7. Ok...this has really grabbed my eye as I need a GPS that will connect to my puter with USB instead of serial port. AND if it is not sold will buy right with paypal .. my email is jojojousa@yahoo.com Jonelle in NY
  8. I think any cache can be a good idea! Just the way you list it can make the difference. Would be fun to know that when you open a cache a picture is being taken! It might even discourage coin stealers and cachers that dont log any finds. And Im sure you may end up with a few photos that are unexpected...lol. Go for it and make it fun! Thats what counts.
  9. This seems like a very cool tool for us not so great at puzzle solving cachers....but how do we know if the puzzle we are trying to solve is participating?
  10. I learned the hard way not to go caching in flip flops! Got some caught under my toes and I am very very allergic! Since then I make sure all skin is covered. I watch and avoid it...walk around it - if you know you have touched it wash it as soon as possible! I read that shoe strings are a big culprit of spreading the oils so disposable medical gloves are handy to keep around. AND I bought a bar of good old Napha soap. Removes the oils very good. I almost died once from some neighbors that where burning PI and I had inhaled the fumes...so be cautious about that also!
  11. I just bought a Legend at Walmart and am seriously thinking of returning it! I have an old lowrance that can hit coords right ON....this Legend drives me bonkers ...go left 56 feet...go right 96 feet ...go left 3 ft....it can not zero in on anything!!!grrrrrrr.
  12. I was told to just get an inexpensive PDA cuz they would all hold the amount I would need...well I found this great deal on that big auction site that starts with an e and it looks nice, works nice, but will not hotsync with my puter and that causes more headaches. Seems that with the Palm m500 the USB port tends to carry static and cause a malfunction with the hotsync. So even with an inexpensive PDA it can not be so inexpensive. Then I have heard after getting the PDA I will have to learn to Pluck and Spin and Swiss Knife waypoints to sqeeze them through the wires....
  13. Well it seems like if it is a new model it should have voice activated dialing...so the hard part would be getting all those numbers into the phone book with the proper names. To do that just act like a dumb adult in front of any teenager and they would have them programed in for you in minutes!
  14. I would really like to go paperless and am wondering what might be my best bet for a PDA that will cooperate. I saw blueberry pretty cheap on ebay, would I have to activate the phone part or would it work as is for paperless caching?
  15. I got to 'witness' one at an event...I even took its picture. But can not enter any contest with it! If you look at the page it looks like ALL of the Jeep TBS are being released out West!
