  1. Sorry if this has already been posted, but I have not seen it posted here. I just found where you can enter a custom start up message on the 62 series. On my 60, I entered name and phone number, that showed up on start up. In order to duplicate that on the 62, you need to hook up the USB, navigate to <drive>:\Garmin and edit the startup.txt file. Here's the contents: <!-- Edit this file to display a message while your unit is powering on --> <!-- Allow one full power cycle after editing for your message to be updated --> <!-- Set the display number to the minimum number of seconds your message is displayed --> <display = 0> <!-- Type your message on the next line --> So after that last line, whatever you enter pops up on the start up screen. Works great!
  2. Bummer, yea, that's what I was asking, I was on the lake today, and there were so many packages on the map, (shorelines anyways) I had a hard time using the map. This means I need to plan ahead?? ahhhhh! (-: TIA Rick
  3. Mine hangs in there From the map screen MENU > MENU > SETUP > ENTER > MENU > ENTER > Rocker to the item > ENTER > MOVE > Rocker > ENTER > Quit New Order is now displayed, and mine hangs in there on re-boot.
  4. Occasionally, I'll use the GPS for something other than Geocaching, and I cannot find on the new 62 how to turn them off the map. There can be a lot of clutter at times, and speaking of that, the 60csx had a de-clutter, and I can't find that anywhere on the 62, either.... TIA Rick
  5. Ok, Current units: Magellan eXplorist 600 Magellan eXplorist XL Magellan Roadmate 500 Garmin 60 CSX Past units: Magellan Sportrak Topo Magellan Meridian Color Magellan Sportrak Color If it not worth over-doing, it's not worth doing.
  6. I created a text file named Erase.csv, and placed it in its' own folder. It has one entry in the file that looks like this: 0,0,"" After I load that in, the custom POI sceen now says "NONE FOUND". HTH
  7. MENU -> Pts of Interest -> Geocache Pts (Find by Nearest or Alpha)-> Nearest to Position -> MENU -> Show Found Cache. There they are. Cheers!
  8. I've had good luck with Magellan repair. I dropped my Roadmate, and it rattled and did not work, and I got the unit back in 2 weeks. The phones were also getting answered in 5-8 minutes. I'd call to get your RMA, though.
