  2. Ok, so I built and published my first Wherigo the other day and I have a few Ideas for some others, but my problem is I want to be able to activate and deactivate zones as needed, I am using Urwigo and I just can't seem to figure it out. I have tried searching tutorials and cannot seem to find anything that shows this. any help would be appreciated!!! sorry if there is already a post on this, I looked but didn't find see any.
  3. Just to clarify some of the date issues on the caches, I had other caches that were published since then, that is why I wanted to know why these seemed to get overlooked. the caches that were placed 5/3 and 5/6 respectively were never disabled, they were in the reviewers queue to be published. on 5/17 I disabled them and the submitted them for review again just because I had thought they may not be showing up in the reviewers queue. they were down for very little time that day. I have spoken to my reviewer finally, and all is good. they were overlooked, its as simple as that. I understand that it happens once in a while.
  4. Finally some of them got published this morning. Hopfully the rest will follow. Yes there were two of my caches published more recently but some of these have been placed for very close to three weeks. But no matter now it looks like they may finally get done.
  5. Yes they are enabled and ready to be published and have been since may 3rd and the 6th for two of them and I had some issues with them that were resolved immediately after recieving the notifications which was on the 6th when they were originally looked at and have heard nothing since. I have since placed others as well like the socalled rooftop one that wasn't published. I disabled them once and then reactivated them just to see if that would help but other than that, they have been waiting for publishing.

  7. I have a cache that the container is in the skull of a large 4 ft tall Halloween skeleton under a rock over hang out in the desert really a creepy sight to walk up to, Kinda fits the theme, anyway good luck!!
  8. I have been trying to get some caches published for 2-3 weeks now and it has become apparent by the 100+ caches published in our state and my caches are not, that either the reviewer and/or someone else has taken issue with me and my caches, one for no reason other than the Icon appeared to be on the roof of a building on the maps. and if the cache description had been read they would have understood why. And even after I fixed all the issues and replied with reviewer notes and emails to the reviewer within 20 min of receiving the emails, I have received no reply's to any emails and no reviewer notes on the cache pages. and I have seen caches placed and reviewed on the same day for weeks now. and to top it off, I had to archive one of my already published caches to make room for a better one. I am at the point where I feel like just archiving all of my caches and saying to heck with it.
  9. I am in the process (over a year now) of building a 30 + stage choose your own adventure Wherigo with multiple possibilities for the end, although you do have to know how to build wherigos with is a pain in the butt.
  10. Been waiting for 2.5 weeks for mine to be published, our reviewer has published caches 4-5 times a week since then and still hasn't done mine. the ones that had issues were resolved within 20 min of receiving the emails from him. I replied with both reviewer notes and emails, and have not been notified of any other "issues".
  11. Very infrequently the GPS will balk and not want to load properly, or freeze on a particular cache. If the happens in the field, you can remove the card, reboot, then reinsert the card and reboot again and everything will work fine. If you don't use the card, you don't have the ability to remove the file causing the trouble until you get back home. The SD card is cheap insurance. Using an SD card has saved me on several occasions over the last year or so, including last Friday morning, when my eTrex 20 came up with the "No Geocaches Found" message. Happy to know I am not the only one this happens to.
  12. Just plane Diving http://coord.info/GCXX3N, Cache is in a submerged plane at the bottom of Sand Hollow Res. in extreme SW Utah. its on my bucket list, Hopefully this summer.
  13. I was searching for a cache that was at the base of a city water tank tonight when a cop car pulled up, the cop got out and walked towards a house next to the tank. after a few minutes he came out from the house and walked over to me, and before I could say anything he says "The Coords are off a bit try a little farther that way." apperantly he lives there and actually caches a little.
  14. well I had another run in with the Law, my wife and I went on a cruise to mexico a couple of weeks ago and I took my back pack with all my geo gear into town. I had 8 bison tubes and a 36 pack of AA batteries as well as a hand full of travel bugs. Upon returning to the ship, We had to go through the metal detectors and my bag was x-rayed, after a 20 min search and a lengthy explination about geocaching, I was allowed to move on. my ninja skills musta been on the fritz that day and apperently the bison tubes don't look good in the X-ray machine and the custom's officials have no idea what geocaching is!!!!
  15. this year we had a really long winter and when it did warm up it seemed like every cache I looked for in the month of june was crawling, I saw 8 rattlesnakes within 100 ft of 1 cache. that gave me the heeby jeebies. and I found a watersnake in a cache, the container had a hole in the side, deffinately mad me jump.
  16. No offense to anyone, but after seeing the cachers I know.....there is no way in hades I am going to get involved with that!!!!! LOL
  17. It all depends on the attitude of the people asking, If some one is friendly I happily explain the sport and answer their questions, but people with a bad attitude tend to bring ut my obnoxious, Smarta** side. Either way, in a situation like that Its good to just tell them what you are doing.
  18. I have a cache ( http://coord.info/GC2B3Y6 ) that has 30 Dummy containers all located in the typical place, while the real container is not. And it is my favorite caches to read logs from. yeah there have been some complaints in the past but most people love it.
  19. Why would you shoot a rattlesnake unless there was no other choice. Seems like senseless violence to me. Even if it was on a cache you could have just moved it with a stick or tossed some stones at it to make it leave... Obviously you know nothing about the temperment of rattlesnakes, They can be quite agressive. living in Canada, how many have you came across? first of all, I only shoot them if I feel me or my children are in danger. and just as an example about 6 weeks ago I found myself in the middle of a grouping of six Rattlers while retrieving a cache, none of them gave any warning, until I went to leave. I left them alone but had any of them shown any aggression, yeah I woulda shot them.
  20. you carry a weapon to go caching ?? tough neighborhood huh I carry a hand gun at all times when I cache for two reasons, 1 animals, I have shotmany Rattlesnakes while caching, and fired shots to scare of a bear. 2 yes I have cached in some bad neighborhoods.
  21. Most of the time the Police do know what geocaching is, it is the muggles that call them that are the big problem, Happened to me today, I better work on my ninja skill's
  22. I foud a cache once( it has since been archived ) after looking for 20 minutes the coords kept moving me to the middle of the road I finally started investigating the coordinates and discovered that the cache was tied with a wire to the center of a cattle guard right on the the yellow line of a very busy highway with a posted speed limit of 45 MPH.
  23. I come to Huntington Beach 3-5 Times a year!
  24. You better not die, or be on the far side of the cemetary at least .1 miles away.. or live longer than me so you don't block mine. Well hopefully the Reviewer will see to it that both our needs are met, I'm hoping we can get some special circumstances if it is a problem, or we will have to come back and haunt him!
  25. People don't like what they do not understand,It,s just My opinion But the neighbor probably didn't like the cache being there to begin with and took this opportunity to get the cache removed. I was looking for a cache one day at a home, that a neighbor called the cops on me, right after the cop showed up and began to question me about what was going on,and I showed him the cache listing saying it was ok to snoop around in the guys yard, the owner of the cache came home and told us that the neighbor had been complaining for years and even threatened to take him to court because the did not want "those types of people in the neighborhood". I think you did right by obliging the request, only if to keep other cachers from having the same expierience. as for me when I die I,my Headstone is going to open up with a cache inside.......I just hope my neighbors don't complain.
