    To be honest I am not familar with EasyGPS. I do however love GSAK. I use it to do everything. I use it of course to create databases with my pocketquerries. I also use it to send then to my Palm via CacheMate. If I start to use POI's instead of waypoints GSAK can do that also. Of course I can make GSAK as simple or detailed as I would like. You can sort by any number of details, distance, direction, name, difficulty, ect... My money is on GSAK.

    can you use both gps ,i have a garmin ,withmapsource, and got a new palm tx coming .my husband wants to use the old one if he can .what map do you use for palm tx ,or does if come with it .i not got it yet .i sure hope is easy to use the cachemate .and try to do pocket query too .i been reading about it all . but still not sure .

    Easy GPS is really good and putting waypoints on your GPS.

     

    GSAK slices and dices your data a hundred ways. It's got a fairly steep learning curve. Or at least it's not obvious to me so I've never done more than track my finds with it. ONce you learn it though you can use it to sort caches about any which way you want.

     

    If all you want is a simple way to put waypoints on your GPS. EasyGPS is best. If you want to sort out the kinds of caches you want to put on your GPS by about any way you can think track your finds and some other things. GSAK is the best.

     

    As for cachemate on the Palm. That's about the only thing going so it's an easy choice.

    i been using easy gps now on my garmin,i getting a new palm tx,i been told to use gsak , and cachemate too , its gask better than easy gps ,i know i have to buy it and the other is free ,but i still new at this so i need to go the right way .thanks

    I use the Garmin GPS10x (bluetooth-SirfIII) with the T|X, Garmin MobileXT mapping (uses same maps as MY Etrex CX), cachemate on the palm, and GSAK on the PC.

    ok i understand what to us ,but i use easy gps now on my garmin , so with the new palmtx i need to use gsak , and cachemate ?

    i try to download gps exchange file (gpx) or loc.waypoints (loc) and it goes to download file type topografix.data file . and then its try but stops and tell me no data from gps .

     

    You still have not told us EXACTLY what you are trying to do. And you still have not told us what program you are trying to use. But, it sounds like you are trying to d/l cache waypoints from geocaching.com and load them into your merigold. If this is not correct, you are going to ask your question more specifically. And give exact details.

     

    Your merigold does not understand what a .gpx or .loc is. You cannot load .loc or .gpx files directly from geocaching.com into your merigold.

     

    You CAN save the .loc or .gpx file from geocaching.com onto your pc and use one of these programs to translate and upload the points to your merigold via serial cable or (with GPSBabel) to your SDcard by card reader.

    I NEED SOME HELP WITH DOWNLOAD MY GPS .I HAVE ONE MAGELLAN GOLD ,AND ONE LEGENDC ,WELL I DO USE EASYMAPS TO DOWNLOAD ON ,BUT NOW I CAN DOWNLOAD THE LEGENDC BUT NOT THE MEGELLAN GOLD ,I KNOW YOU HAVE TO SWICTH IT OVER FORM THE LEGEND C TO MAGELLAN BUT WHEN ITS STARTS TO DOWNLOAD ,I WONT TAKE ,AND SEND ME A BOX SAYING ERROR .IF SOMEONE CAN HELP I THANK YOU .
