I believe I have figured out the fix for the issue and deployed it to production a few minutes ago. It should no longer be necessary for you to clear your cookies in order to view images. Get back to me here if you see otherwise. Thanks, bootron

Still no response from the third party, we are going to take a closer look at this issue today and see if we can't come up with a workaround on our end. Sorry for the inconvenence.

It looks like one of the 3rd party tools we use to allow users to stop collecting cookies has introduced some sort of bug on their server side. The current workaround for the moment is to remove your cookies, refresh the page, and accept all cookie types going forward, then refresh the page again. I'll report the issue to the 3rd party and hopefully they will get a fix out soon.

So I believe we have figured out what the issue was. When we updated the website to use ssl on all pages in October, that move was the equivalent of changing every single page on the website to be a different url than before, and Google's search bots went into a frenzy working to reindex our site over the past several months. The activity of Googlebot increased slowly at first but became pretty relentless in the past month. Because it was repeatedly hitting our search page with all kinds of random combinations, it put heavy CPU pressure on our servers in waves that happened every couple minutes. The two things that seem to have solved this problem are A) Adding some more CPU to the servers, and B ) putting noindex meta tags on pages that shouldn't be indexed like the /wm/search.aspx page. These actions have resulted in Googlebots hitting the site far less frequently and the page durations for the past several days have been MUCH lower, averaging around 500ms per request for the entire day yesterday. CPU is now down to 1% utilization, down from 90+% during the peak of each wave. We've also added much better telemetry to the site so we can do a better job of monitoring it, which is a nice side benefit. We're continuing to pay close attention to it, but I am hopeful that site performance will continue to remain this stable state going forward. Thanks again for your patience, Bootron

I am sorry to hear you are still having issues. Since our CCPA updates went out we have been experiencing some database CPU issues and continue to be working to improve performance. We are trying to determine if the issue is related to the Waymarking code update itself or if something on that data server has coincidentally started behaving weirdly. Originally we were seeing these slowdowns take place in 5 minute waves and our monitoring system was detecting them as they took place. Now, due to some of the database updates we've made, that same system is seeing the slowdowns take place much less frequently, more like 3-4 per day. We have some more things we will be trying this week to get it back to a good place, but I would be curious to hear what others are experiencing out there. For me right now the site is very fast and seems to be functioning well. But I can see from my notifications that that is not always the case. What are you all experiencing? Bootron

Unfortunately some of the changes we've made for CCPA and GDPR have had some negative impacts on the page load durations. In the next week or so, once all our devs are back in the office, we'll be working to get it back to the normal levels. bootron

Maybe do a hard refresh with Chrome. Click F12 and then right click on the browser refresh button and select "Empty Cache and Hard Reload".

I want to make sure everyone understands that we are slowly working to make our websites compliant with these new regulations, and for Waymarking specifically that means a lot of major changes under the covers. As a result you may occasionally be experiencing some bugs that do not get caught in our regression passes (Waymarking code is older and less resilient than Geocaching code). If you see any ill effects, please post them and we'll do our best to fix them as soon as we can. As this work is taken on you may also see some minor improvements/changes.
