Our daughter (the Homing Pigeon) came up with the idea of the personalized keyrings over the summer. We have been using the middle rubber ducky keyring. But when she started caching under her own name it was hard finding something with a pigeon or a target on it. So she brain stormed these neat keyrings to leave.

We personally see no problem with it.. Mafia Duck TB We thought it was kewl that someone else thought our TM was interesting enough to make it a TB..

Ok.. A Cacher from Say Northern Florida is Down in South Florida For What Ever Reason.. They Place a Cache in an Area they Find Interesting.. There is No Notation on Their Cache Page that So-and-So is Watching This Cache for them.. Next Thing You Know, it Goes MIA for what ever reason.. There are a Number of DNF's Posted on the Cache Page.. E-mails are Sent to the Cacher in Question.. The Response Given back is... "I Don't Live In the Area, I Can't Check It, I'll Just Archive it".. 1st off, why was the Placement of this allowed?? If Placing Cache's Outside of your Normal Area keeps on.. Where are the Folks from that Area Going to Be Able to Place Caches?? We do not live in a Big City, So We are Semi-Limited to Where We Can Place Caches.. So is that Truely Fair for those of Us Who Live Here 24/7/365?? Before you know it the Local's are Either going to have to Drive Across the State to Place a Cache or just Not Be Able to Place Any.. Like We Said in the 1st Post.. These are just what we find Distrubing..

Alright.. We have noticed this Trend here in Florida and Want to Know what Other Cacher's Think About it.. Is Stealing Someone Else's Cache Becoming the Next Big Thing?? Are the People who are doing this So Geo-Caching Challenged, that they Can't Find an Interesting Place to Bring People on Their Own, That they need to Hunt Down Someone Else's Idea and Steal It?? Here are a couple examples.... #1 - Getting a Cache "Archived" (The Owner's/Co-Owner's of the Archived Cache are Still Semi-Active..) Now Placing a New Cache in the Same Spot/Area as the Just Archived Cache.. #2 - Adopting a Cache.. Then Archiving it.. Then Replacing it with a new one of the same name and the same type of cache.. #3 - Telling a Fellow Cacher you just checked their cache and it's MIA.. That Cacher Archives it.. Then You See a Cache Just Pop's Up in the Same Area (Within Feet) of the Cache that was Just Reported MIA and Archived, by the Cacher's who said it was MIA.. #4 - Placing a Cache Outside of your Normal Territory (A Place You Dont Visit Frequently), and asking one of the Local's to Keep an eye on it.. ___________________________________________________________________ Here is what we think.... #1 - We see this as just down right being Unethical.. There is really no other way to say it.. It's WRONG!!! Why is it Neccessary?? What is there to Truely Gain?? The Cache is Going to Show on Your Owned List No Matter What.. #2 - See #1.. #3 - See #1.. #4 - OK, So where are the Local's Suppose to Place Cache's?? We do not Agree with this Trend, for it basically Geo-Litter just waiting to happen.. We know about the "Vacation Placements" (not being allowed), but it seem's as if the Approver's are not paying attention to this small detail.. These are just a couple of Issues that have been happening here in Florida.. We Personally Find these Trend Disturbing and Are Just Wondering What Other's Think About this.. But is there anyone out there who might have booked a Camping Site at Hanna Park the Weekend of GW3 and now for some reason they will not be able to attend and they need to unload this camp site?? Please help us Welcome the Newest Member's of the Lehigh Mafia.. This is where we need some help.. The human side of the Lehigh Mafia consist of 4.. So as you can see there are 5 baby's in the picture.. There is another one on the way.. So we will have 6 baby's and the deal was everyone got to name "one".. And as anyone with kids know, the agruments have already started between the Jr. Mafia.. Anyways.. This is where our fellow Geocacher's come into play.. We would like some help with 2 names.. We would like to have all the baby's named by the end of the month so, on August 31st, 2004.. After all names are in.. The Godfather & I will sit down & pick the 2 names.. If you have seen the news.. The hospital's down here didnt do very well.. We ended up closing one hospital completely due to the roof caving in.. At the hospital I work at we ended up losing 40+ rooms due to flooding.. The atruim's sun-roof blew off.. One of our sister hospitals roof was damaged, not sure yet on the other 3 hospitals in the area.. And this was just in Lee County..

Things are starting to calm down here in Lee County.. I ended up getting locked in at work, was released at midnight Saturday.. Driving home in the dark (only had headlights) was a new experience.. I still have no been out since then.. We have been under curfew (dust til dawn).. Anyways.. Just to let you know.. My father lives in North Fort Myers, his phone is back on.. Not sure about electric.. Our electric (in Lehigh Acres) was restored about 3pm Saturday.. Other wise.. Things are getting back together slowly.. Lehigh Mafia

Ok, I wanna know what everyone out there thinks about this.. I see this (the hurricane) as a "MAJOR" advantage, here is why.. Here are our top 10 reasons... 1--NO TOLLS!!! (going or coming from Cape Coral to Fort Myers...) 2--Minium Muggles.. (There all at home watching the news..) 3--Very Little Traffic.. (So you can get to & from as many caches as possible..) 4--Wind uncovers those caches hidden by palmetto branches.. 5--Rain & Wind keeps those Skeeters at bay.. 6--No need to hide GPS from muggles.. (no one is around anyways..) 7--No need to think of lame excuse's of why your poking in & out of the bushes.. 8--With all that wind you dont work up a sweat.. 9--Cops are busy keeping people off the islands, so they cant respond to those call for people poking in & outta the woods.. 10--The wind helps push your car so you save on gas.. Ok,, Now tell us what you think.. PS... I am off work tomorrow...

Mine is Cute... Thought of it all by myself...

We always leave our trademark.. A "Little Yellow Rubber Ducky".. But we also will leave something we got from a previous cache.. (Kinda like Recycling) We keep a bag with all the goodies we have collected and just pass them around the Cachin' Circuit.. Also, when trading, we put into play where the cache is located & what we have in our bag.. (ie.. if we are caching at a beach, we wouldn't leave carabiners).. Anyways, that just the way we cache...

I spray Camo-Ducks on ours... On the side where the writing is, I place the "Offical Geocaching" Sticker.. Lehigh Mafia

So, what is up with this? Personality extensions? Or just people having fun taking pics of toys instead of other people? Or a joke? Or what? Are we missing out on a special feature of Geo-caching? It is really tough to determine the gender when all people post are the these pictures, so maybe that is the true reason? We do have a Mascot.. It would be our "Pets" Gimpy & No-name (Peking Ducks).. But since you cant stuff live animals into caches (Plus they wouldn't like it), we use little yellow rubber ducks as our Trademark.. (Like the ones in our Avatar).. We always leave a little yellow rubber duck on all Regular caches.. Even our labels for log only caches have ducks on them.. What can I say.. Were nuts about our ducks.. The only time I involve them, when it comes to caching would be when we bring the TB's home to log them.. I try to take a picture of all the TB's on their adventures.. Sometimes the Ducks are willing to help out with the pictures, sometimes they dont want anything to do with it.. But now with them nesting, they are very picky about who can get around them.. Since we are still "New" to the Geocaching Circuit. We go with the Plan Ahead game. If we know we are going to hit a "Certain Area", we will look up all the caches around that area. It seems to be what works for us right now.. Plus it kinda give the Hubby & I a reason to take a "Trip" together without the Jr. Mafia.. Lehigh Mafia
