  1. Danpan, thanks for sharing. I'll just be patient then BTW, I love your multies. grtz
  2. Somehow the PQ application is lagging in keeping track of the number of PQ's activated for a certain day. My column for Tuesday clearly shows a total of 4 PQ's but the application keeps refusing me to activate another PQ because I have already reached the maximum number of 5 PQ per day. I deleted all of the flags for Tuesday and tried again two hours after receiving this error message. It did allow me to reactivate 4 of them but after that the error came back. Do not recall having experienced this before. Is it my expectation or is it a bug? thnx
  3. Played the Wherigo introduction tutorial on my PPC with my Garmin XT GPS-device, using an application called CSRD that I found on the XDA-developers forum to reduce the dpi on my HX4700 from 192 to 128. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780149 is the link to the XDA-forum. The player was not happy with the standard settings for authentication (on) and encryption (on) for my GPS, but after changing those all went well. Agree auto-resizing would be preferable but in spite of the fact the print is smaller then I'd like it to be I don't think it is worse than on the screen of e.g. an Oregon. regs
  4. KK. Think I got it all figured out now: 1. Access Garmin.com, download the xImage setup-file for your Garmin GPSer and install on your desktop 2. Download and extract the symbolsetfile from the link that IBcrashen provided 3. Connect your GPSer and switch on 4. Launch XImage 5. But that is me :-) create a backup directory and download all waypointsymbols 6. Check the filename structure and rename the files in one of the directories with the bitmaps accordingly 7. Upload the new set 8. Use it :-) 9. If you use Mapsource follow the instructions for that on the linke IBcrashen provided Just in case, da link: Geocaching Symbols on a Garmin 60 Series
  5. Brilliant. I am a GSAK user, but never saw this one before but that probably goes for 50% of the GSAK functionality Ot maybe I saw the 60 and skipped. Lesson learned. I did wonder why under Custom symbol there were these blue balls on my GPS. Never thought of looking up how to work with those. Do now. TYVVVVVM 2lingPa
  6. True. That is what I first thought they were and ignored them But ok, in combination with M_M's comment that does bring up the following question: You can't sync 'm but the GPS does pick up on the fact that it is being fed something that is different. hmmmm. So in fact, upon loading the GPS-er does try to match the incoming symbol but upon not finding it replaces it with its default <unknown> symbol. Wonder how that is set? Something to explore. thnx 2lingPa
  7. Thanks M_M, On reading your reply I realize I should have known that. It is not in the list of items to select or unselect when sync-ing. bummer ciao
  8. Normally when planning my route in Mapsource I use the closed treasure chest for the caches. Last weekend I decided to mark the Multi's as Multi's. However, on my Etrex Legend HCX I found that these had been replaced by blue flags. How can I ensure that Mapsource only shows me the symbols that exist on my GPS-er? Even just a warning that there is a symbol in use that will not be availble after upload would be nice. How can this be accomplished. regs Rien
  9. Thanks for the update. grtz 2lingPa
  10. Hi, I remember that when I added the HTML code for my Profile, the Preview Profile Details-link would directly show me the result. That was only a couple of months ago. When I now do the same, I just see the code I added. Checked it on a different PC and that has the same results. Other users can see my profile just fine, so it is not the code that is causing it as I initially thought. Is there a setting that I need to change on my end or is it something site related? tia, 2lingPa
  11. Thank you so much M_M, Really appreciate it. They should add that info to the site. thnx
  12. Small correction there M_M: The site says: - Premium Members can create private and shared lists, rate lists and view lists. - Basic Members can view shared lists. How does a Basic Member view that list? thnx 2lingPa
  13. For a friend of mine I created a list with caches we will be looking for together. I created it and set it to share. But where can he find it? Note: I am a premium member, he's not. regs 2lingPa
  14. Do you ever use the autorouting functionality? Would 24MB suit you for your geocaching needs or do you no longer look at that because the Legend offers plenty of space?
  15. So in spite of the size, the maps are working for you? Do you use the Mapsource application to plan your route or use a regular hiking map for that?

  17. I did look at them but at € 235 and € 315 I consider them too expensive for the time being. If geocaching turns out to be something that sticks we'll eventually get there
  18. Hi, We decided to give geocaching a try this holiday and went out looking for a GPS. Did a GPS-workshop at a local outdoor shop and liked the workshop unit, a basic Etrex H. Etrex H with datacable (USB as I have no serial connection on my PC) brought me in the price range of the Venture HC. I like that one because I have location and map on one device, no need to carry around a map (at least that is what I hope). The guy at the Garminshop then mentioned the Legend HCx. Larger memory and autorouting were the benefits. Larger memory allows me to have more maps installed. Autorouting allows for easier rerouting in case of roadworks etc. I intend to buy the Topo map for the Netherlands. I hear that a 100km radius is about 10MB. As I never walk 100km per day, my guess is the Venture is a safe buy. I assume that if I plan a route on the Mapsource application that comes along with Topo map, and upload the maps around that route to the Venture, I do see that route on the screen? I like autorouting when in my car, but guess that will be taking the fun out of geocaching. It almost feels like door-to-door geocache delivery. Or am I overlooking something here? The only thing I am unsure about is the memory size. We live close to the belgian border and I do think our activities will bring us there. Will that maybe cause a problem in memory size? Look forward to hearing about your experiences. Grtz MJB
