  1. Enhancement suggestion : When clicking the colums to sort by that category, the list then displays from the first record in that column - even if a record has been highlighted. Can GSAK be modified so that if a particular record is highlighted and the column header clicked to sort, the selected record is still visible in the same relative position? I don't know if this has ever been requested before and the current method of operation is preferred, but if so, could it be a configurable option? Thanks.
  2. I use an Emtac CRUX III BT receiver ( it is identical to the 'Socket' one - just badge engineered ). I was put off getting the TomTom BT receiver as the reports I read indicated that it is/was very unreliable ( many of the problems centered around the soft on/off switch ). However, I use it with an iPaq. TomTom for road nav and ( until I got my Garmin Legend C ) GPSTuner for caching. It works very well.
  3. Not wishing to hijack, but is it possible to get an all locationless gpx file from pocket queries? I can't seem to get around the requirement for specifying a country, waypoint or similar reference point.
  4. Shouldn't be a problem. I've previously dropped the full 500 on my Legend C. Try using the Garmin mapsource (included with the GPS ) app, and load them back in from the GPSr. If the view is being filtered as noted by robertlipe you'll get the whole lot back in mapsource.
  5. 6. The way I do it is - 1. Go here http://stats.guk2.com/caches/download.php and download in 'Memory Map with Descriptions format' and all ( reduce it if you want ) 2. Save the file 3. Open Memory Map and import the file ( Overlay>Import and select mxf as the file type and browse for the file you downloaded.) The only problem with this method is that it imports all the UK caches whether you've found them or not.
  7. OK, I've downloaded the current EasyGPS ( v 1.3.7 ). It doesn't look like it has been modified to allow connection via USB to a Legend C. Nor for that matter a Vista C. By lying to it and telling it I had a 60CS ( another USB model ) connected I was able to upload the waypoints from the Legend to EasyGPS. I did not try and write them back ( I consider it too risky - I don't want to have to do a factory reset on the Legend ). So it will connect ( and can at least load from the GPSr ) if you tell EasyGPS it's a 60CS. EDIT : Just saw your earlier reply, so ignore.
  8. If it's any help, GSAK works fine with the legend C. I'll try EasyGPS later for you.
  9. There's this one if travelling by Le Shuttle http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...aa-6f844116d784 Not exactly challenging though
  10. I posted a thread here a couple of weeks ago for a good deal on the Foretrex ( £129 I think ). EDIT : This one - http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...83911&hl=maplin I don't know if the offer is still on though. EDIT AGAIN : Offer still on, 8 left in stock. Direct link http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Module...rldID=&doy=7m12
  11. Also Fingertech in Radlett http://www.fingertech.co.uk/gps_geocaching_accs_prices.html Edit : Just to add I've never used them so I don't know anything about the service!
  12. 'Look, for the last time, there really is no such thing as an amphibious haggis. And if there were any, they'd only swim in circles with those asymetric legs.'
  13. Most definitely continue. Forums die if there's nothing to read and a broad range of subjects is vital. If people don't like a topic, then don't read threads where it is a feature. It really is that simple. So, keep them coming.
  14. Plot the caches where TBs have gone mising on a map and see if there's a pattern. See if there is a pattern with the type of TBs going missing. Have a look at frequency and then with that info, try and second guess the next hit. Stake it out armed with baseball bats*. * This latter part is NOT a serious suggestion.
  15. "This is the 2 litre container from Betterware and it has been known to keep grass fresh for up to 6 weeks." Not for the first time, Kevin wished he had a less difficult sales area. ----------------------- The Kleeneze ovine sales promotion wasn't all that Kevin hoped it would be. "I wonder if I'd do better with an Ann Summers party, he mused"
  16. Bottom hose. tch tch. That's easy compared to the bypass hose between the head and water pump on older minis ( A series engines ). You either had to fit the flexible one that burst regularly as it was too flexible, or lift the head to fit the proper one Re : Bravo/a . Avoid the faster 5 cylinder HGT model. Changing the cam belt is an engine out job and very expensive. This job is often avoided owing to the cost and is therefore a big risk. Edit : re Rover 100/metro : Bear in mind that car did spectacularly badly in the Euro NCAP crash tests.
  17. Most TVs sold in the UK in the last 5 to 10 years have been able to handle NTSC quite happily and all DVD players should be multi format. But check your manuals before ordering! The only other issue would be if the DVD is region coded ( very unlikely ). Even if your TV cannot take NTSC, you may be able to get away with feeding it an RGB signal ( obviously if the TV takes and the player can output RGB - again check the manuals ).
  18. Alderney & Sark ( if there are caches there at all ) would probably come under either Jersey & Guernsey I would guess. The only others I can think of are the Faroes.
  19. Inspired by this very thread I undertook an experiment in respect of the EGNOS transmissions. First of all, I switched on SBAS on my Emtac receiver ( I don't have a dedicated GPSr yet - just my general purpose iPaq & bluetooth Emtac ) and placed it where it had a clear view of Inmarsat AOE at 15.5W. On running the various GPS apps on the iPaq I saw no indication of any EGNOS signals. They may have been there but I saw no indication ( either using the TomTom GPS utility, the Emtac utility ( which also sets receiver properties like SBAS on and off ) or GPSTuner. So, I then linked the receiver to my desktop instead ( I really like bluetooth ) and fired up Hyperterminal which I set to capture to file. I then let this run for well over an hour ( I was bearing in mind the earlier comment on first time use of SBAS ). I then imported the NMEA data into MS Excel. And guess what? No satellites referenced over PRN 29. So, there are a number of possibilities. 1) That Inmarsat bird wasn't doing EGNOS at that time. So I'll try again some other time. 2) I missed the indicators in the NMEA data that indicated augmentation. 3) The GPSr isn't receiving the signal for some other reason ( line of sight was good ). 4) errr Sirf So my questions are : There was a comment earlier about NMEA and Sirf*. I don't really understand this relationship. Can someone explain? In looking for the received satellite data, I investigated the NMEA sentences. The $GPGSA sentence never listed any sat > 29. Would EGNOS satellites s be listed in this sentence? I also looked at the $GPGGA sentences. One of the references I read indicated that differential data should be reported in this sentence with a Sirf chipset. But the $GPGGA sentences I was receiving had a slightly different structure ( and no differential data ). Sorry if this is going far too technical for some, but I am very interested in how it all works and the online info I've found is contradictory. * Just re-read the thread and Sirf isn't mentioned  . Must have been another thread somewhere
