  1. Hello Mrs B, I have done as you suggested and put a note log on each of these caches. The Facebook group is a closed group, so I have asked to join and will post if successful. Many thanks for the good advice.
  2. Wonder if there is anybody willing to adopt the Ashcott Circle GC2V9Q4 and Catcott Circle GC2V9Q4 series of caches, I have a worsening injury (possible ankle fusion in the offing) which means that I will soon be unable to maintain these caches and need them adopted A.S.A.P. There have been a lot of favorite points awarded and it would be a shame to have to archive them. Any takers ? Pm me please.

  6. Had a phone call from Graham at Garmin, after looking at the unit, they now know what the problem actually is, he has called their software dept. and a new update has been released to solve said problem, my updated gps is on it's way back. So answer to all those suffering the same, update.......yet again ! Sigh.....
  7. I had the same problem with mine and called Garmin UK techline, spent just under an hour with the techie on the phone trying all he (and the other techies he was conversing with) suggested, the problem persisted, If you disable the discoverer map, lo and behold, the icons appear, if you enable the discoverer map, they disappear, he asked me to return my Oregon550T, so I posted it back on Friday, guaranteed arrival at Garmin on Tuesday, I shall await results with interest. Methinks they could have fixed this quickly with another software update !

  9. There are times when my map does not show several of the geocaches from the trail i laid out , I then get e-mails from cachers asking "why is it missing". Also half the time, when clicking on an icon on the map, nothing happens, I go to old maps and all works fine. Doesn't anybody from Groundspeak keep an open eye on these forums, It's time we heard some feedback from them over these problems.
  10. I recently laid a trail of 35 caches, when I open the maps, only half of them show, if I hover the mouse over the area where they should be, the gc code and name then shows but still no icon on map!
  11. I bought a Garmin Oregon 550t some months back but it was a package deal and included the "discoverer maps" best thing since sliced bread, same as an os map, Check it out, http://gbr.garmin.com/on-the-trail/
  12. I don't use garmin maps, but from what I've heard the sd maps are locked onto the card. You can move the card from GPSr to GPSr, only one at a time. Should be therefore able to plug the sd card into the computer and open in mapsource (???) Been there, tried that, didn't work ! BaseCamp software version 3.0.1 as of March 31, 2010 Thanks for the info on this, I will download it from the link you kindly supplied and see if I can do something from there ! Wish us luck, If I am sucsessful, I will let you know.
  13. Hello, This is probably going to sound like a dumb question, sneaky feeling I already know the answer "should have bought the map on a dvd ". I purchased a topo great britain, south england and wales map, (it came already loaded onto a preprogrammed data card), for my Garmin Legend Hcx. I am trying to find out how I can upload the map from the gps to the computer to use with trip and waypoint manager / Mapsource. When I click on "Transfer", then receive from device (gps unit)A box opens up, finds the device (the garmin gps) and all the little boxes/options are ticked under the heading "what to receive" including the one that say's "maps", I then click receive and a box opens up which says "transfer complete", "The data was succesfully received", So I click ok, then another box opens and says "some maps could not be opened because the following mapsource products are not installed Topo Great Britain V2 Every time I try to install it from the device, it just won't let me, is it possible ? Thank you for any advice (not rude please !).

    pocket querys

This is going to sound like a dopey question, But here goes ! The code in the post above, where is this put, somewhere in the GSAK program or onto the gps somewhere ? Sam. Hiding his head in shame......

    pocket querys

Thanks chaps, That answers all I think, from further googling, I don't thing my gps supports this, bugger!
  16. Bear with me on this one folks, not sure how to word this! I have an etrex legend hcx, if I were to download a pocket query onto it and then click on find, geocache, and then on one of the geocaches shown, what extra info would I get or see that I don't get now? At the moment if I click on a specific geocach, I just get the name of said cache and no other info. I am wondering if I would be able to see things like a description and the hint in the little info box. or are pocket queries just used for downloading big bunches of caches at one time? Also would I need to download any special program to run pocket queries or is it just a case of clicking on a download button somewhere to get the info onto the gps like I do now on the garmin site? Any guidance appreciated. Thanks, Sam.
