  1. Wow! Still no takers eh... Man, I think that this is an AWESOME deal. Let's try sweeting it one last time though. $400 (plus $10 shipping within the U.S.) takes it all! Here's what you get: - Brand spanking new Legend C (still in the box!) - Unit specific unlock code for City Select North America v6 - Unit specific unlock code for BlueChart Americas v6.5 - Brand new protective Garmin eTrex case - A copy of TOPO United States (3 CD set) - A copy of U.S. TOPO 24K National Parks, West - A copy of Recreational Lakes with Fishing Hot Spots, West - A copy of TOPO Canada (4 CD set) Any takers?
  2. All, Okay, I've taken the time to put together a list of "street" prices for the unit just to show what everything's worth. I've also now set a price for the unit (for a purchase of ALL components, just the North American components, or just the European components). Please do let me know if you're interested. ALL COMPONENTS ($700 plus $10 shipping - out of U.S. shipping costs extra) - Garmin GPSmap 60CS ($395) - Unit specific unlock code for City Select North America v6 ($125) - Unit specific unlock code for City Navigator North America v6 (no charge, but worth at least $125) Note: I only unlocked the unit using CN to see if I could tell a difference between it and CS. The unlock code was a second unlock from my old StreetPilot III which I don't have any more. - Unit specific unlock code for BlueChart Americas v6.5 (all regions unlocked!) This one's hard to put a value on as I paid big $$$ to unlock all of the regions. However, since I realize that I'll never get my money back on this one (and I still have access to it all in my other unit due to the second unit unlock), lets just price it at the cost of a single region being unlocked or ($120) - Unit specific unlock code for European City Select v6 ($300) - Unit specific unlock code for BlueChart Atlantic v6.5 (all regions unlocked!) Again, this one's hard to put a value on as I paid big $$$ to unlock all of the regions. However, since I realize that I'll never get my money back on this one (and I still have access to it all in my other unit due to the second unit unlock), lets just price it at the cost of a single region being unlocked or ($200) - Sharkskin protective case (from TheGPSStore.com) ($10) - Garmin utility carrying case ($10) - Suction cup auto mount ($20) - 12 Volt cigarette lighter power cord ($25) - TOPO United States (3 CD set) ($90) - U.S. TOPO 24K National Parks, West ($90) - Recreational Lakes with Fishing Hot Spots, West ($90) - TOPO Canada ($120) - Worldmap ($90) I calculate everything to be worth more than $1,685 altogether (WOW!), but I'm willing to take $700 (plus $10 shipping) for it all! NORTH AMERICAN COMPONENTS ONLY ($600 plus $10 shipping - out of U.S. shipping costs extra) - Garmin GPSmap 60CS ($395) - Unit specific unlock code for City Select North America v6 ($125) - Unit specific unlock code for City Navigator North America v6 (no charge, but worth at least $125) Note: I only unlocked the unit using CN to see if I could tell a difference between it and CS. The unlock code was a second unlock from my old StreePilot III which I don't have any more. - TOPO United States (3 CD set) ($90) - U.S. TOPO 24K National Parks, West ($90) - Recreational Lakes with Fishing Hot Spots, West ($90) - TOPO Canada ($120) - Sharkskin protective case (from TheGPSStore.com) ($10) - Garmin utility carrying case ($10) - Suction cup auto mount ($20) - 12 Volt cigarette lighter power cord ($25) EUROPEAN COMPONENTS ONLY ($600 plus $10 shipping - out of U.S. shipping costs extra) - Garmin GPSmap 60CS ($395) - Unit specific unlock code for European City Select v6 ($300) - Unit specific unlock code for BlueChart Atlantic v6.5 (all regions unlocked!) Again, this one's hard to put a value on as I paid more than $1,000 to unlock all of the regions. However, since I realize that I'll never get my money back on this one (and I still have access to it all in my other unit due to the second unit unlock), lets just price it at the cost of a single region being unlocked or ($200) - Worldmap ($90) - Sharkskin protective case (from TheGPSStore.com) ($10) - Garmin utility carrying case ($10) - Suction cup auto mount ($20) - 12 Volt cigarette lighter power cord ($25)
  3. I completely agree. Here's part of the answer to this. Magellan has just announced their new RoadMate 300 line (which has 115 MB internal memory and an SD slot). Here's a couple of links to it: Magellan RoadMate 300 Magellan News & Events This unit more matches the Garmin Quest, but I believe that Magellan is also going to announce a hand-held line to compeat with the 60C(S)/76C(S) as well. It's totally beyond me why Garmin can't/won't give us SD technology???
  4. tubemonkey, If that's what you want your GPSr to do (i.e. auto-route over long distances) then I think that your seriously barking up the wrong tree with the Legend C, Vista C, or the 60C(S)/76C(S) as that's NOT what they were built for (i.e. that's not what they were designed to do). If you're looking for a GPSr that can auto-route over long distances, then you'd be much better off considering the Quest or the SteetPilot 2610.
  5. junglehair, I have dealt with Rezuco on eBay and I would STRONGLY recommend that you stay away from him. He never responds to your e-mails, he's super slow to ship (even after paying extra for faster shipping), and he has many complaints against him for non receipt of product on eBay. For me personally, I purchased one of his products on eBay, he then sent me an e-mail message stating that he couldn't (i.e. wouldn't) honor the price he sold it to me for. I told him that I thought that his business practices sucked, but I agreed not to leave him any negative feedback as long as he returned my money. He did so about a week later and after I had sent him four e-mail messages (which were never answered). Then, about a week after that, he turned ME into eBay as a non-paying bidder for the auction. I wrote him a bunch of times telling him that he had made a mistake, but he never responded. I ended up having to file a formal complaint against him with eBay in order to get the non-paying bidder mark removed from my account. If you look at his feedback on eBay, you'll see that I'm not the only one he does this stuff too (and I doubt very seriously that you've ever receive your rebate from him). Thus, I wouldn't touch anything from him with a 10 foot pole no matter how good his prices sound. I think that you will be sorry in the end if you do.
  6. Al, I have a brand new Legend C and a one month old 60CS for sale in this forum: For Sale: Garmin Etrex Legend C Plus Extras! For Sale: Garmin Gpsmap 60cs Plus Extras!
  7. If you search these forums for Legend C or Vista C, you'll see that my user name pops up quite a bit in the discussions. I'm a HUGE fan of the Vista C. I currently own both a 60CS and a Vista C and I prefer the Vista C over the 60CS hands down. In fact, I prefer it so much more, that I've decided to sell my 60CS. I've been on quite a few caching runs with the two units side-by-side and I can't tell any difference between them as far as the antenna goes. If you're caching in heavy tree cover, then the 60CS will marginally out perform the Vista C, but everywhere else, I can't tell a difference. What really sold me on the vista C is its super small size and the unit's click stick. The Vista C is much smaller than the 60CS and yet it's screen size is very close to being the same size (especially when you consider that the 60CS has that silly toolbar/status bar running across the top of the screen that can't be turned off and the Vista C doesn't). In my opinion, the Vista C's click stick is sooo much easier to use (and faster too) than the rocker button on the 60CS. Other than the smaller amount of memory (which doesn't bother me either as it's still enough to load all the maps I need for geocaching), and the other items you've already noted, the Vista C is identical to the 60CS and the 76CS (i.e. they all use nearly the exact same firmware and so they offer all of the same features/functions). As you can tell, my vote goes to the Vista C...
  8. I've use the Marine POI database for the 60C(S) and 76C(S) with my Vista C and it works great. It can be downloaded direct from Garmin's web site.
  9. BTW, Just so every one knows... I have tested one of the new Quest units with Garmin's xImage program and it works great! You can indeed create a custom splash screen for the Quest using xImage, and the Quest allows you to have 64 custom waypoint symbols (or "My Locations" as they are now called in the Quest) instead of the 24 that's available in the 60C(S), 76C(S), Legend C, and Vista C. Also, just as an FYI, the Quest allows 30 character length waypoint names and 100 character length waypoint notes/descriptions which is quite an improvement over the 10 character waypoint name length limitation and the 30 character waypoint name/description length limitation in the 60C(S), 76C(S), Legend C, and Vista C. Cool!
  10. Okay, Let's give this one more try, but this is my bottom line offer... - Brand spanking new Legend C ($250) - Unit specific unlock code for City Select North America v6 ($75) - Unit specific unlock code for BlueChart Americas v6.5 ($75) And, I'll through in the brand new protective Garmin eTrex case for free (a $15 value). That's it, nothing else will be included. i.e. $400 (plus shipping) takes everything I've just listed here. That's an absolute steal (as I paid over $1,000 for it all)! Any takers? BTW, my original offer still stands as well (i.e. for an additional $100 you'd get all the other software I listed in my first offer that I didn't include here).
  11. Kermode, I bought the unit from GPSNow.com and so I doubt that they would take it back now that it has been opened and used (i.e. they're not a Wal-Mart ). Besides that, how would I take back all of the software? The unlock codes have already been provided by Garmin and so they aren't going to give me back my money now are they??? Thanks for your suggestion though...
  12. All, I have a one month old Garmin GPSmap 60CS for sale along with the following additional items: 1. Unit specific unlock code for City Select North America v6 2. Unit specific unlock code for City Navigator North America v6 3. Unit specific unlock code for BlueChart Americas v6.5 (all regions unlocked!) 4. Unit specific unlock code for European City Select v6 5. Unit specific unlock code for BlueChart Atlantic v6.5 (all regions unlocked!) I'll also through in: 1. A copy of TOPO United States (3 CD set) 2. A copy of U.S. TOPO 24K National Parks, West 3. A copy of Recreational Lakes with Fishing Hot Spots, West 4. A copy of Worldmap 5. Sharkskin protective case (from TheGPSStore.com) 6. Garmin carrying case 7. Suction cup auto mount 8. 12 Volt cigarette lighter power cord WOW! That's a lot of stuff. I can't believe I bought it all now that I see it listed. The unit is in perfect condition and has hardly been used. There are no scratches or blemishes of any kind on it (i.e. it looks like it was just taken out of the box). I have all of the original packaging (including the manuals lanyard, beltclip, etc.). This is one of the newer units from Garmin that has the small foam pads behind the battery terminals to prevent power loss when bumped. If you're interested just PM me or send me an e-mail (you should be able to reach me by e-mail via my profile on this forum) and make an offer. Serious offers only please and no trades will be accepted. BTW, before anyone asks... I'm selling the unit because I have a Vista C that I prefer to use over the 60CS and so I don't want it any more.
  13. What ever you do, DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM REDZUCO off of eBay. I had really bad dealings with that guy and if you checkout his feedback, you'll see lots of others who had similar problems. Besides that, even if you got the unit from him, I doubt that you'd ever see the $50 rebate. I've bought about five GPS units from GPSNow.com over the years and they're terrific. Their prices are really hard to beat if you include the cost of shipping. For most GPS units, you can get FedEx 2nd day air shipping from them for around $12, and if you order early enough, they guaranty that they will ship your package out the SAME day you order it (as opposed to a week or two later like Rudzuco does even after you pay him more for faster shipping! ). Good luck!
  14. No worries as I completely understand. Good luck in your hunt for the Legend C.
  15. I can't believe that no one is interested in the Legend C. I know that $500 is a lot of cash, but it's really a steal with all of the mapping software that's being included. I'll give it another day or two here and then I'll put it up on eBay. BTW, I have 100% positive feedback on eBay for every item I've ever sold there (including a couple of my other GPS units - SPIII and GPSmap 60C). Thus, if you'd like to look me up on eBay for a better sense of my trust worthiness, my eBay user ID is "wopr_mike" I just thought that I'd offer the unit up for sale here before putting it on eBay as I'm a big fan of this site and its members. Thanks for your interest! Edit: In fact, you can even see the eBay auction in my feedback profile where I bought the Legend C for $285 just a few weeks ago. Thus, you're getting all the other software and the case for just $215 more (and the City Select NA v6 alone is worth $125 of that leaving just $90 for everything else )!
  16. HawksNest, If you live in the Sates, I have an awesome deal on a brand new (in the box) Legend C I'm trying to sell. If you're interested, check out my topic on in the GPS Garage Sale forum: For Sale: Garmin Etrex Legend C Plus Extras! The unit is a steal with all of the mapping software I'm including with it (and the unit specific unlock codes). If you have any questions, just send me a PM or e-mail me. BTW, I'm not a dealer. I bought the unit for my wife, but we just bought her a new car with a nav system in it and so she no longer needs/wants it.
  17. I have both TOPO United States and the TOPO 24K, West maps on my GPSmap 60CS (which is identical to the 76C(S) as far as the screen size and firmware goes), and I can tell you first hand that the topo maps look totally awesome on the color screen (backlit or in direct sunlight). I use the topo maps all the time when geocaching and I love'em. You won't be disappointed. BTW, I'll defer to Team DEMP to post the screen shots since he already volunteered to do so and I don't want to steal his thunder (not to mention the fact that I don't have a 76C(S)).
  18. Not to beat a dead horse, but the new eTrex Legend C and eTrex Vista C models have this feature as well. In fact, their firmware is 99.9% identical to that of the 60C(S) and the 76C(S) and so they have all of the exact same features. Just an FYI...
  19. I have both a Quest and a 60CS and you really can't compare the two. While both of them have common/similar features, they each have their own specialties. The Quest has some really cool features for auto-routing that the 60C(S), 76C(S), and Legend/Vista C can't dream of matching (such as voice guidance, advanced route planning, setting detours, custom avoidances, etc., etc.). On the other hand the 60C(S), 76C(S), and Legend/Vista C have some really cool features that the Quest can't dream of matching (such as the dedicated geocaching mode, all of the games, availability of an electronic compass and altimeter, etc., etc.). Thus, IMHO, the two units fill very different needs. If you use your GPS for auto navigation most of the time, then get the Quest. If however you use your GPS for geocaching, hiking, etc. most of the time, then get the 60C(S), 76C(S), or Legend/Vista C. If you're on the fence between the two, then buy one of each like I did. Also, Vlad did indeed hit the nail on the head when it comes to the price difference between the two units. If you take a 60C or 76C and add City Select plus a suction cup mount and an AC adapter and a DC adapter (i.e. all of the items included with the Quest), you'll probably pay about the same (or maybe even a bit more). Thus, the units are actually quite close in price when you compare all that you get with the Quest.
  20. I'm not arguing that fact that the quad-helix is a better antenna. I'll definitely give you that one for sure. However, in my real world side-by-side comparisons of the two units, I can't tell any difference at all between the two. Thus, I see no reason at all to rule out the new Color eTrex units just because they have a patch antenna. Sure, the quad-helix antenna will always look better on paper (when comparing the physics as you say), but in real world use, I'd doubt that the average user would be able to tell much difference (unless of course they are using it under heavy tree cover as I already mentioned). No need to get in a huff about it. My only point to all of this is that I don't think that folks should rule out the new Color eTrex units just because they don't have the quad-helix antenna. They are super cool units that have lots to offer at a reasonable price (about $80 to $100 less than the 60C(S) when comparing street prices and that will almost cover the cost of City Select NA so that you can do auto-routing).
  21. Yes, but you can't compare the old eTrex units to the new Color eTrex units. That's like trying to comparing apples to oranges. I can run both my 60CS and my eTrex Vista C side-by-side while geocaching and I can't tell any difference between them at all as far as the antenna goes. They are both quick to get a satellite lock and they both perform equally well as far as maintaining the lock goes. However, I live in So. Cal. where there isn't a whole lot of tree cover around. If you live in an area with dense tree cover, then you might see a bit of a difference. Otherwise, you definitely can't judge the two by this difference alone. The ONLY downfall I can see with the Legend C/Vista C is that they have only 24 MB of map memory as compared to the 56 MB in the 60C(S) and the 115 MB in the 76C(S). However, I find the 24 MB to be more than adequate for caching and driving around nearly all of So Cal (which is quite a large area).
  22. Don't forget about the Legend C and the Vista C either. They are also great geocaching units as well. They have a bit less memory than the 60/76 and they use a patch as opposed to a quad helix antenna, but they are super small (i.e. easy to carry around) and they have all of the same firmware features and power of the 60/76 units (including the dedicated Geocaching mode). I have both a 60CS and a Vista C, and I far prefer my Vista C over my 60CS due to its much smaller size. Just my $0.02... EDIT: BTW, I have a brand new Legend C up for sale. Check out the GPS Garage Sale topic in this forum if you're interested.
  23. I've bought five different GPS units from them over the years (including accessories and mapping software) and I've been happy with every single purchase. They have great prices and they have an excellent deal on FedEx second day air shipping (not to mention that there's no tax if you don't live in their home state). I'd recommend them highly!
  24. All, I have a brand new (in the box) eTrex Legend C for sale along with the following additional items: 1. Unit specific unlock code for City Select North America v6 2. Unit specific unlock code for City Navigator North America v6 3. Unit specific unlock code for BlueChart Americas v6.5 (all regions unlock! - worth many $$$) I'll also through in: 1. A brand new Garmin eTrex protective case for the unit. 2. A copy of TOPO United States (3 CD set) 3. A copy of U.S. TOPO 24K National Parks, West 4. A copy of Recreational Lakes with Fishing Hot Spots, West 5. A copy of Worldmap That's waaay more than $1,000 in map software alone and I'd be willing to part with it all (including the brand new Legend C) for just $500 plus shipping. I currently have a GPSmap 60CS, an eTrex Vista C, a Quest, and the Legend C, and so I've decided that I don't need the Legend any more. I actually bought it for my wife and she doesn't want/need it as we just bought her a new car with a nav system in it. If you're interested just PM me or send me an e-mail (you should be able to reach me by e-mail via my profile on this forum).
  25. Low Bat, Like you, I struggled with this same problem with my Legend C and Vista C... I called up Garmin and asked them about their eTrex Legend/Vista case fitting the new "C" models (with the shorter and wider screen), and they assured me that the case would indeed fit. Giving Garmin the benifit of the doubt, I went ahead and ordered two of their eTrex cases from one of their authorized dealers and was very disappointed to find that they did not fit. The clear plastic does NOT fit the new screen size in the new Legend C/Vista C units as it cuts off part of the screen. This was very maddening for me. When I called Garmin about the problem, they told me to return the cases and that they would let the design team know about the problem. This was more than a month ago now, so apparently they aren't planning on doing anything about it and will continue ripping folks off by telling them that the case fits when it really doesn't. Oy! Anyway, I did eventually find a case that works. The case is also made for the older eTrex Legend/Vista models, but it does indeed work. The plastic area is large enough to fit over the screen on the newer "C" models. It's not perfect by any means, but it does work. Here's a link to the case that I'm now using: BE100 BLACK Neoprene Case for eTrex Series I hope this helps some...
