  1. I say this without meaning to be snarky, but if you don't know or understand the rules maybe holding a Geocahing 101 event isn't for you. Can I get your response to those who suggested getting a booth? If your intentions are genuine that is clearly the better solution.
  2. This one: https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC1X8TD_keeping-santa-cruz-weird?guid=fdab9d77-db12-4095-86f4-283118790c3d It's a large life-like doll who holds a sharpie for you to sign her body. Scary! Read the logs.
  3. I've been seeing a lot of logs lately complaining that bottle preforms are mislabled as small and should be micros. I'm thinking of putting one out and would like some feedback regarding this issue. The only info I could find on Groundspeak is this page. Under "micro" is states, "micro: e.g. 35mm film canister or smaller". Preforms are clearly larger than a film canister. Under "small" it states, "small: Holds only a small logbook and small items." Most of the preforms in my are contain small trinkets like butterfly erasers, tiny animal figurines and so forth. It seems clear to me that they should be designated as 'small'. Is there another page other than the one I linked to above that contradicts my assumptions? Thanks, IWC (If this has been covered previously I apologize but I couldn't find it using 'search')
  4. 20 Feet off? The info is available on the net but still kinda cool to have it on a cache page I can link to.
  5. Why do you care? Are you keeping score? Even if he's lying it just bumps up the apparent numbers on your cache. Calling him a cheater might encourage him to become a maggot. If he is just playing (cheating) he'll quit soon enough. Besides you don't have the proof and I've forgot to log caches for over a year on occasion. I say chill and let it go.
  6. I saw on the info the are now regarded as waymarks. I went to that portal but couldn't really figure it out. Is there a way to make a puzzle cache that incorporates a web cam?
  7. Yes but still, on that cache one misstep wont send you to your death!
  8. OK, well thanks for the input guys. Im just not used to that kind of thing. There are some new caches in that area and I plan to pass right by it... It will be tempting! Yikes.
  9. A new cache came up in our area that seems to be too dangerous for our sport. According to the logs there is as much as a 75 foot drop off! What do you guys think? This Cache Will Make You Cross It is a cute name though, I'll give it that.
  10. I know that's not that long, but this cache is pretty close to town. I wish I could grab this one but not sure I'd be able to make it. (GC1YYPQ) What long unfound caches in your area have been found recently? Or are still unfound?
  11. I viewed it on my BFs account, but it looks like the status has changed.
  12. There has been a lot of great new caches come up in our area lately, but I thought this was a cute idea: Easiest Geocache In Santa Cruz.
  13. I apologize for my snarky tone. It was wrong. I'm a little frustrated though at the way things are going. Why is someone without 'moderator' under their name allowed to post with definitiveness about this without giving specifics as to why this is so? As I mentioned in my first post there seems to be a lot of 'circling of the wagons' going on here. TPTB suggested opening it up here for discussion in the first place. Sure, you have the power to keep everyone in the dark, but why? In this particular issue I don't need to know the specifics, but would it really be a big deal just to have someone (who does know) come in and clear it up a bit? And if so, why? ETA:spelling
  14. Spoken with the true authority of a random opinion.
  15. I don't like the way he put it. It seems unnecessarily heavy-handed. But as a non-member I can't argue that he was wrong - it is none of my business. If I were a paying member, however, I would think it would be part of my business to know that the services I'm paying for are being handled fairly.
  16. I'm asking this for clarification purposes and not to be jerkish: Was the above posted as a member or are you warning me as a moderator that I'm not at liberty to discuss with KBI his logic in this matter? And why is asking for clarification about a ruling from a paying member being a "busybody"?
  17. Balogna. Then why not just give a quick overview instead of continually implying that there is some super-secret behind-door info. It's one geocache, it's not a matter of national security. But, in your "analogy", the cops would be powerless to do anything about it because of checks and balances in the system. Were one the cops to take action against you (wrongly and without explanation) he would be deemed 'rouge'.
  18. Well since you guys have circled the wagons, would it be too much to ask if it is appropriate to archive a cache that the owner has checked on and reported that it is indeed still there? "I think StarBrand summed it up perfectly, "I suspect there is a bit more to the story."" - Deane You think (s)he did or (s)he did? Why not just explain the special circumstances?
  19. well, golly thats tricky!!!1!1 thanks, but i guess i feel bad for asking now. still have to make sense of that hahahahaah
  20. Is it considered bad ettiquite to ask for a nudge in solving puzzle caches here? I'm a n00b so forgive me if it is (this is my first time to the forums!!!!11). OOps forgot to link, hahah: Puzzle cache or GC1ZHGC
