  1. I just looked at my 60CS and 60CSX with the battery covers off. The 60CSX has a thin rubber gasket on the GPS it's self along with the one on the cover. The 60CS just has the gasket on the cover.
  2. I'm using V6 in both my 60Cs and 60CSX. The "lead time" for the 60CSX is much shorter. So it can't be due to the difference of V6 and V7.
  3. I sure hope it is that way. That is the way my 60CSX reads also.
  4. I disagree with Red90 on the altimeter point. An altimeter would give you how many feet a drain drops on it's run. It realy depends on how involved you are going to get.
  5. 180 miles round trip for one night cache.
  6. One of the members of the Sevateem bought a refurbed Legend and has been very happy with it. It was about $120 at the Dick's in town( no waiting for the mail). She has used it for over a year with no problems. It holds a signal as well as my 60CS and her husbands Visa C. I feel they are a very good starter GPS.
  7. About a month ago the whole Sevateem was out caching. When it was time to head home (after a night cache). Two of us did the "find home" thing on our GPSs. The Vista C with V7 gave a differnt route than the 60CS with V6. . Not that it really means anything ,just that there are changes in V7.
  8. The new units will be released about a month after you buy a GPSr. So hurry up and get one so we all can see the new units.
  9. Frogs are amphibian. And amphibian's can change sex if need be. So depending on the time of month (or what ever) , Signal is what ever sex It needs to be. Watch "Jurassic Park" to get the real facts.
  10. We were out after a cache last night. At the same time the 2 of us said "I bet it's under that Tree". And sure enough it was.
  11. Try from the map page , adding more detail. It worked on my 60CS. Not sure what commands you have to use on your GPS. There should be options for Most, More, Normal, Less Least.. I think Normal is the default. OOps I guess I should have read your post closer. Sorry
  12. Put some hot chili sauce on the brains and ChiliHead will eat it.
  13. Did you enter your password on the profile page?
  14. Auto routing is great. This summer I was caching with my daughter and granddaughter in Michigan. Not knowing my way around, it was nice to be able to use the auto routing to get close to each cahe. Then at lunch time the grandaughter wanted to goto McDonalds. The GPS took us to the closest one. The auto routing also comes in handy at the end of a day when done caching in unfamiliar territory. Put in "Home" and you are shown the way. As to what to back up. I keep maps with all the found caches. It is fun to be able to look a map filling with little open treasure chests.
  15. The worse smelling cache we've lound was our own. Some fishermen found it, took everything good and left fish. The fish had been in there for about 2 weeks. They had even signed the log book. Another member of the Sevateem was going to Washington State on bussness , so I was going to get a T/B that was in our cache for him to take (it was gone).
  16. We found a cache in an ammo can a few weeks ago on the bottom of a lake. It had a 15# dumb bell in it to keep it under water. Every thing was dry. Lots of DNF's for it.
  17. If you have a 60cs You HAVE to use the Garmin topo soft ware if you want to be able to load the maps into the GPS. And you can print them. If you just want to be able to print out paper maps, National Geographic Back Roads Explorer is great.
  18. I have a 60CS and have not felt the need yet for more memory. I have westen NY, NW Pa, south parts of Mich., north Ind., and part of Va.(no NYC) both with topo and city select loaded. If need be it doesn't take long to load new ones. I have not needed to change any of the maps for almost a year. Having said that I would most likey buy a new Garmin that has lots more memory when they come out with one that has the features that my 60CS has. The 76's don't have enought more memory for me to want one of them.
