  1. Yes, Avroiar, and why did you change it to premium? We may have to stop hunting for it now. We've only been working on it for six months or so..
  2. I've actually seen this. If the tree is narrow, and the "Turn Left" in one direction is too close to the "Turn Right" in the other direction, you can sometimes get a very messy blaze. It can look like: X X XX
  3. Think this one qualifies for a lecture at the Geocachers' Anonymous meeting.
  4. I'll second Rob's motion. I put the pictures on my Log/DNF on the benchmark page, and insert a link here for those who are interested in looking at it. Makes it a lot quicker here. Wanna see a picture of KU3942 Blaskwell Island Lighthouse? or KV4105 Weehawken Hackensack Water Twr?
  5. That looks like a Virtual Cache to me. Try getting it approved!
  6. He's just trying to get more geocachers to look for his Lame Roadside Caches, and Fluffy Pink Bunnies.
  7. My apologies, Shannicat & Bugbait. When I traded This Bud's For You with my sister, Circles, I thought it'd stay in Maine for a while. Netherlanders go geocaching in Miane for their vacation?!? Who'd-a-thunk? Though, looking through the list of "Bugs who have visited", Purdy-2 is in Liechtenstein, Quality Light is in the Netherlands, and Bonnie Prince Charlie is in Austria. Beware all. We're having a memorial service for our Ma in Oregon later this year. Geocachers from four states will be attending. "The family that geocaches together, runs amok in Cental Oregon together." Watch your Tavel Bugs carefully! We are planning major Travel Bug relocations!
  8. Oh, Quoddy, the river is at least four feet deep! I may get the nerve to try that one yet (though I had enough trouble with the trestle...) I was a few feet from a black bear on TPN Trail once. Scared the bejezuz out of both of us! (Coming back from GC5) Lake of the Clouds Hut Virtual was very tough, but not especially dangerous. The way Circles and I did it was as part of the Presi Traverse. Two day hike from Crawford Notch. Six thousand feet of elevation gain. (And another two days to hike out to Pinkham Notch.)
  9. Muggles are best deep fried, with a side of slaw.
  10. Ouch, Seventhings, and Evenfall, you're givng me a headache. I guess that my first question would be whether there are enough participants in this field to be willing to split them into two groups. Yes, there are the game players, and there are the purists. Yes, I'm a game player. I logged one find and two DNFs today. Trenton State Capitol Dome Am I sure that it is the actual dome of the state capitol? I read enough to be pretty sure that it is. Then we have KV6035. From the game plyer's point of view, this is probably long gone. Might be buried under the brick sidewalk, or, more likely. was dug up during construction. I'm not going to dig up the sidewalk looking. DNF. The third is also a DNF. KV6034 The question here is whether we are game-players, or follow-up surveyors? Or both? I have seen enough stations that have not been reported since 1932 to woder if anyone really cares. Ad I've found a few that are not on this list that we work from. No, I have not gone to the trouble to report as missing some tht are obviously long gone. The Wor-TV Mast for one example. I'm here playing a game. I do not see that there are enough of us to split this group into two.
  11. You do need to consider the size of the TB that you're sending out. Will it fit in most containers? If it does not, it will not move as frequently. I'm trying to send a Furby to my sis ter in Maine, but it's a bit big for most ammo cans. Oh,well. I guess it'll take the slow route.
  12. Thanks! I shall have to work at this, and see if I can get a good set of coordinates for this from the web somewhere.
  13. Not entirely true. Perhaps I'm strange (NO! Don't say it!), but, sometimes, I do look through the list of TBs that have visited, to see how they are doing, and where they've managed to have gotten themselves to. Several are touring Europe. One managed to make it to Alaska... Then there are a few that were picked up in September, and have gone nowhere since. Oh, well.
  14. LOL! You'd have to be nuts to be there this time of the year! We couldn't get the cell phone to work, so we had to call work from a pay phone to get someone to download our picture. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't get the coordinates when I was there. My sister and I were doing the Presi Traverse. It was a great pic for my AT journal, though.
  15. Let me check my coordinates on the GPS... Definitely Morris County!
  16. When I found it, it WAS in a stump. Checked it again for a TB on a trip later, and it was in the log a few feet away. Is that location still as nasty as it was when I was there a year ago? Ah. That could explain it. Community cache, with no one to edit the original? I've cached in far nastier places than that. In fact, we didn't see anything particularly wrong with the site. I cited it as a prime example of a bad clue. I've seen several others using a completely wrong description.
  17. I am eternally regretful that I did not get the coordinates for the Mount Washington Observatory WEb Cam when I was there. I only refreshes every 15 minutes, but it's a great spot. I did have my picture taken there, but I wasn't smart enough to use the GPS to record the coordinates. Oh, well. If I had, it would be listed as a Web Cam Site now! It's a web cam on public property, easily accessible on the Internet.
  18. And, here, we have a Web Cam Site * New York Minute * - Webcam Cache. It appears not to have been working since April 23rd, 2004. I cannot get it to work on my compputer, so I have ignored the site. I suppose, that following advise given above, then I could go there, and take a digital photo, and claim to hvae logged it. Sorry, that's not my game.
  19. From Swamp Gas. "This one shouldn't stump you." A frequent clue that usually means "In a tree stump." Oddly enough, I know how to use a dictionary, and know the difference between a 'stump' and a 'log' or 'fallen tree'. I owuld have found it quicker if I had known it was in a log, not a stump. There are any number of similar hints that are completely worng. Am I the only one who owns a dictionary?
  20. I do look when we drive by our urban caches, but I've never caught anyone searching.
  21. Timing can be unusual. I've held TBs for a month. Depends where I'm caching, and the goal of the Bug. I was asked by an owner to love the bug along, and have complied. I've asked two cachers to move my bugs along, and one has complied. Such is life.
  22. We've done one web cam so far. We put off doing it until we were sure that Andy Bear's sister would be at home to download our picture. (And it took ten-minutes on the phone to explain to her how to do it, even though we'd put the web cam in her 'Favorites'. Aargh! <Thanks, Ana Maria.>) If the rules are "Post your picture from the web cam", then those are the rules. I'd never considered asking a Web Cam Cache owner for an exemption. The rules are clear.
  23. Congrats! But you should have picked up my TB from Muggle Magic and moved it!
