  1. My cell's internet doesn't work very well. I usually just end up getting very irritated. I did figure out how to load with GSAK to put the hint in the gpsr. For a while, I guess I"ll just have to keep planning ahead.
  2. There have been several instances where I got scared while caching. I can't really remember the others in detail, but lemme tell ya what happened today. My hubby was at work, and I was bored so I decided to get hit a few caches. I figured...easy peasy. I'd get ones that didn't involve hiking into woods or anything. The first cache, fast and easy. Very nice. The second cache...weeeeeeeeell..... I got there, sat in my truck for a bit trying to get my cam on my phone to work. Then, I got it and got out. I took pics of the ducks. I walked across a bridge to a little island. I start my hunt here. I noticed something under the bridge that I thought might could be it. I picked it up as I stepped down the bank to stand by the water. I looked up, and under the bridge was a freakin snake. We kinda stared at each other for a sec, then he started moving and so did I. I had to climb/step up the bank and figure out how to get across the bridge being guarded by the "keeper of the cache." I figured that's one DNF that i MIGHT go try to get later, but I definitely won't be alone nor will I be without my snake equipment.
  3. Wow! Thanks everyone for all the advice and info! The only reason I want to hook my GPSr to anything is to be able to transfer waypoints and not have to manually put them in. WiFi is so that I can either update my info as to what's around a particular location OR so that I can get initial info as to what's around a location (in the instance that we end up going somewhere that we hadn't planned).
  4. Wow all these great things happenin' today! Congrats on the anniversary. We have a little anni today.. hubby and I met and started dating 4 years ago today. Our first wedding anni is coming up in a few weeks. Congrats to the folks with new toys too! I'll be getting my new GPSr tomorrow.... Hmm this calls for a celebration. Anyone who wants to contribute PDA, PPC, or old laptop to the cause... feel free haha Shell
  5. So ya'll think Palm is probably the way I should go? I'm inclined to agree now that I'm finally learning a little bit about it. Thanks for the info. I'm heading to ebay to see what I can see. I have no idea about ballpark prices.
  6. Thanks for that info. I wonder if I get even more of a discount for working inner city..hmmm... just kidding. Thank you very much for those links though!
  7. Hey ya'll. Ok, I am totally confused. I'm a teacher, and paper is now gold to me. I want to get involved in paperless caching. I don't have any of the equipment as of yet. Obviously my first decision is.... laptop, pda, or pocket pc. Laptop is out of the question right now due to expense. I JUST purchased Garmin GPSmap 76CSX. I would like to have the option of connecting GPSr to whatever I end up getting eventually, but it is not necessary and probably not feasible right now. So that leaves me with PDA or PPC. Realistically speaking, I will probably only use whatever I get for paperless caching. I'd like to say I'll use it for other stuff, but I know me. However, it is quite possible that I might use it if I have it. I like to travel.. no LOVE to travel... I would like for PDA/PPC to have the ability to get me online when I am out of town. We often make surprise excursions so that I either don't have time to get the info before we leave, or we branch off and go somewhere else while we're gone. For instance, the 2nd week of July we are going to Gatlinburg. We are heading over to Stone Mountain and to a braves game that weekend. Who knows which way we are going when we come back home? It just depends on what tickles our fancy at the time. Who knows where else we may go during the trip? It just depends. My cellphone (motorola krzr) (grr don't get me started there) can get online, but it's not reliable, and it is just a good old fashioned pain in the.. oh yeah. Is it possible to hook a pda or something to the phone to access the brew (internet) or would I have to have a dialup type connection? I think WiFi would be better because of the unreliability of cellularsouth's internet connection, and most places have free WiFi at hotels and/or various points within the city. Ok let me think what else we may need to help me make a decision.... battery stuff (rechargable or get new ones) doesn't really matter to me. I can live either way. Rechargable would be nice but ... doesn't really matter. Lets go with cost here. Ok sorry if I have rambled. I'm generally fairly electronically gifted, I guess I'm tired or just not "with it" lately. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
