Normally I go to "My Lists" and on the very right of the list I want to load is a little circle with 3 dots in it and I choose "Download GPXs" . It has always worked in the past but no more. I am wondering if someone was tampering with the mainframe and disabled the gpx function. I'm working on a new list for Ljubljiana now and when I am finished with it I'll give the "Pocket Queries Ready For Download" method a try. fyi there's a big event planned for Ljubljiana early in June this year! OK, so an upcoming trip to Europe has me creating circle pocket queries but now there's a catch. I can create the querie just fine, and see the list just fine. When I try to download the file from my email it always results in an .LOC file which is not satisfactory. I need the .GPX file for the info. Yes I'm a premium member. When I go to dowload the file I make sure I have .gpx selected. What could I be doing wrong? Stan PX

We are using an ancient Nexus 7 for geocaching, while doing the searches for geocaches are done with a couple of Garmin etrex gps'. We load a bunch of caches, sometimes in batches, into GSAK, massage the data to our liking, then email the .gpx file to our gmail address, sometimes in batches. When we are ready to go out into the bush, while we are still in wifi range we suck the .gpx file into GDAK and bring up the most wonderful osm style maps that we use to save loads of time finding out where we are and not having to "guess" which trail to use to get to the cache without backtracking. Works like a charm and no usb uploading is required. We're probably getting a new 2019 version of the Samsung Galaxie Tab A for xmas so will be seeing how that might work out for us as the old Nexus is getting really old. Stan

We currently use an old Android Nexus 7 to upload gpx files I have massaged in GSAK to give us great osm maps, and a nice sized screen for mapping. The nexus 7 still fits in one of my bigger pockets and soo is much better for sorting out some of the myriad trails in some of the bigger parks here on Vancouver Island. The old Nexus however is beginning to get flaky and as a 7 year old machine really should be replaced. Since it is no longer being made/sold or supported we are looking for a replacement. Therefore a question. The 2019 version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1" tablet (lite") looks like a nice size, at a nice price. Has anyone got any experience with this machine in a geocaching environment? If so what are the good /bad points? Stan

We love doing adventure labs but we are tired of having to go onto Geo-oh or some other app to be able to find the trails on OSM maps, that we can't find on the standard map shown in the Adventure Lab map. Is there any way of downloading and using an OSM map in the Android Lab app? sktqch

I am about to leave on a trip. I have several PQ files that have been "massaged" in GSAK that I want to load onto my Etrex 30. In total they are too big to effectively use so I want to be able to switch .gpx files in the field. (ie: without connecting the gps to a computer) Is this even possible? sktqch

We have not been receiving notifications of new caches placed within our designated area. Finally tracked the problem down to the fact that something has "unvalidated " our primary email address. Went in and edited our profile to validate our email address and hopefully that will let us see new caches placed once again. sktqch

Or you could do it manually the way I do. I download a pq or one of my bookmark lists to GSAK, massage the database the way I like to using macros, then export the file to my computer. I then send it to my gmail address and then using my Nexus 7 bring up the gmail message and download the .gsk file. GDAK will then import the file and "Bob's your uncle". PLus if I'm in the field and want to use GCdroid on my phone I can always just bring up gmail and import the file into GCdroid. Kind of like a belt and suspenders approach to ending up way out in the bush with a crashed device.

Thanks, I do indeed have a clean text only copy of the document, something I learned to do in the early 80s when working with dos and basic. I'll get on that tomorrow and see if it works. Stan

Yup I checked HTML, and made sure I was quoting the correct file. One reason I was wondering about the possibility of Chrome misbehaving is when I went back into the web page source code I found this. <p><img alt="" src="https://www.geocaching.com/seek/image.aspx?imgid=5034229" />&lt;img src="<a href="https://www.geocaching.com/seek/image.aspx?imgid=5034229">https://www.geocaching.com/seek/image.aspx?imgid=5034229</a>"/&gt;</p> That shows that the actual url for the image plus the html code to show it has been tripled up. It seems to me that it should only be placed there once. I didn't click paste or ctr/v 3 times, only once but it showed up tripled. That happened with all 4 images I tried to post. Weird. I can't actually find a way to directly edit the source code on the page or I would delete the second and third iteration of the html image to see if that would fix it. Stan

I've followed all the steps, uploaded the picture to the page, copied the html code for insertion into the cache page script but no joy. I end up with the html code and url for the image on the cache page. Could it be that there's a problem since I'm trying to do it with Chrome? sktqch

We found a couple of them recently and they had nothing to do with trains or Arizona. Farm kids will know right away what you're talking about, and crows and pigeons will hate them.

I also am annoyed at geocaching.com because of the persistent and intrusive captchas. I understand geocaching.com has contracted out the security of their site to the company that provides the captchas system of annoying customers. Fuzzy pictures, constant repeats of scenarios sometimes taking upwards of 2 or more minutes to "prove" I'm not a robot. Totally unnecessary as this is one of the few sites that requires this onerous task. I don't delete my cookies btw. The most onerous times to hammer a "customer" with these things is on the periodic check when using GSAK that geocaching.com requires so they can prove you are a premium member. I used to think that being a premium member would help you use the site, not hinder you. I agree with several posts here that accuse geocaching.com of being behind the times using this terrible piece of script to "protect" themselves.

Is there a site where all of the Kettle Valley Railway caches have a bookmark list published? We are going to visit Kelowna next week and would like to do some of these? sktqch

I agree with the "save as gpx" comments above. It would allow me to generate different gpx files to save to individual micro SD cards so I could change areas in the field, while on trips. I would really rather be allowed to access different gpx files on my gps, but I won't hold out much hope for that function from Garmin. That's assuming I'd be allowed to increase the number of included logs to 30, add personal notes and include image files along with them. sktqch

We for sure wouldn't like to be forced out of using GSAK. It presents an almost unlimited opportunity to "massage" caches downloaded from PQs supplied by geocaching.com. As an example, our Etrex gps' can't show the "attribute" icons presented on Geocaching.com so a quick macro "massage" in GSAK converts the icons to text which it then includes in the "logs" section when downloading to our Etrex gps'. That was one of the improvements we requested in our original message which included a few "upgrades". sktqch

Using the new "dump to Garmin" feature on the new LISTS system, ends up with the new list appended to the old list already on the Garmin (not good) and dumping only 5 logs, not adding attributes in text format, not adding personal notes and not adding images. Lots of improvements needed. Any hope of that in the near future? The old list system tells us when a newly added cache is "already on the list", and tells us that the cache was successfully added. The new list seems to have left these features out. That means lots of backtracking and checking to see if the "add" was successful or duplicated. We'll stick to the old list system for now pending some of the improvements mentioned above. sktqch

I've found that the GSAK macro "UpdateGCNotes.gsk" doesn't work any more as well. Something's going on with Groundspeak and their handling of personal cache notes and I don't like it. sktqch

Thanks for the reply Isonzo, as you say though the duplicates are a problem. We have visited geocaching central in Seattle and were very impressed by the whole set up. The most impressive thing though was the spirit and adventure of the young employees. I can't help but think that a couple of these young spirited adventuresome programmers could knock this out in a jiffy and have fun doing it as well. Stan

Being on Vancouver Island, we are constantly being bombarded with instant notifications from the mainland if we include a distance that runs North and South of us far enough to include Vancouver Island caches. Why can't instant notifications allow 4 points that would form a square or rectangle so that this problem could be rectified? It seems much simpler that plotting caches along a highway. It could also be plotted as a straight line between two points, with a distance from the line chosen to form a rectangle for instant notifications. SKTQCH
