  1. I agree with geoaccents Whilst on a geocaching holiday in wales with my boyfriend we discovered loads of larger caches, back home in london its mainly micro which arent my favourite.
  2. I agree with the above post. I have a Garmin Etrex H and it was under £100 and perfectly fine. Very robust and user friendly. You should have change from £100 easily so bug yourself some travel bugs to set free . Sorry but a girl loves to shop and spend money ha ha .
  3. Fantastic response everyone thankyou. Ok I MUST book some time off of work so I can attend some of the events that I've come across today. I'm just a bit nervous turning up as I've never been to any before and so wont know anyone.
  4. I got into geocaching about a year ago after my boyfriend heard about through a podcast. So we ordered the garmin and off we went. Sadly the first cache we decided to find was a nano. We didnt have a clue what the hell we were looking for and needless to say we didnt find it. It really made me think whats this geocaching lark all about. Anyway we then went to the next extreme of looking for a larger cache and managed to find it ok. For a few caches afterwards we would only look for fairly largish caches but with time we grew a bit more confident and found out abit more about geocaching. I think it was actually through the internet that we found out what a micro looked like. No wonder we didnt find the micro we was looking for I think i must have been looking for something like a film canister ha ha how wrong was I. Anyway I've rambled on a bit but basically, dont worry micro are cheeky little devils, sometimes magnetic and very often well disguished. Please let us know when you find your 1st micro
  5. Thank you guys for your speedy replies Need to start looking and get booking. Cant wait for the nice weather.
  6. I'm still quite new to geocaching and would really like to get into it a bit more. Can anyone advise me on where/how I would go about finding out of upcoming uk geocache events. I had a gorgeous tent brought for my birthday and would like to get some use out of it whilst going away for a weekend geocaching. Thanks in advance for your help and time
  7. Congratulations on your upcoming milestone. I've been geocaching for nearly a year and still havent reached the 100 geocache milestone . IF I ever get to 100 cachces I think I'll try and save it for a special cache
  8. Yup, done most of a local series with the family yesterday (7 in the family) accompanied by my brother and ex-wife so 9 in total! Had a good day and must have walked a good 1 1/2 miles through woods and pretty hilly/tough terrain. Our 3 year old walked the lot and still had enough energy to run back to the car. We have 3 more of them to find so will probably return for those this afternoon. Was a really good day and was my sons birthday and he spent alot of it doing what he enjoys. This was all followed up by a huge (25 people) family meal at the harvester...yum! Simon Sounds like your having fun. Did you say that you had placed one of your own caches? If so how's that been going? The weather here (Bedfordshire) has been awful so I havent been geocaching in a few weeks Poor excuse I know. We have our own series Hockliffe Series
  9. So here is my 1st attempt. This was taken the other day whilst I was walking to check on my Calendar Series GC22C7M. I have a bog standard camera so couldnt tell you what settings its used ha ha, apart from the on/off button. My 2nd photo This was taken again checking on the Hockliffe series ealier in Feb.
  10. Hows the caching going? Still enjoying the excitement that it brings
  11. What a wonderful idea. Like previous cachers have said, don't attached anything too precious to the travelbug but maybe have a think about something that would mean a lot to them. I cant remember what the stone is for 50th but maybe link something to that. How many geocaches have you found, maybe bring up with your grandparents what makes a good cache and get them to tell you about their caching experiences. It will be nice for you to learn about it but will also give you a good idea about where to place your cache. Best of luck and keep us updated
  12. Ok I have registered an account with icache but dont appear to have any stats? I'm guessing thats because I'm not in the top 1000? Am I a really rubbish geocacher ??
  13. Hi ya and Welcome to the world of Geocaching I'm fairly new to Geocaching and was brough a Yellow Garmin eTrex H. To be honest it does everything I need. My mum and dad are able to work it as its nice and straight forward. I wouldnt spend too much money to be honest , not at the start anyway. The garmin is pretty sturdy going and the nice bright yellow means you not lightly to misplace it when your at home and not geocaching Let us know how you get on
  14. I'll happy help with any adoptions Just send me a message
