  1. I prefer to have notifications on my TB's for the fun of knowing where they are in the world. If your going to discover it tell me the cache it's in or stay away!
  2. HQ needs to step it up on this subject! Give us a way to delete false/fake/never happened discoveries en mass so we don't have to go in and delete each and every log. This is so wrong and so far off what geocaching is!
  3. This sucks It will take me hours to delete these bogus discoveries and IMHO it goes against everything geocaching stands for.
  4. Thank You for the work around it functioned perfectly even if it's extra work. Hopefully geocache.com can come up with a permanent fix.
  5. I have been having this same problem for several days now. Tried different browsers and no luck. When referring to "flash" are you referring to Adobe Flash? I have a blank screen no map when I get to the to and from screen
  6. It's going to be a long learning curve. Struggling with placing a geocache on a map! Yikes! I'll get it but it won't be overnight.
  7. Broke down and picked up Delorme Topo North America. Now I have to go through the learning curve.
  8. Well Nat Geos TOPO program has finally stopped. I cant load it onto my new laptop which runs Windows 8. I need a topo program that allows me to enter waypoints and routes manually. I track wildland fires and have no access to govt. sites that do this. Primarily interested in Arizona and the western US. I also like to layout my needed geocaches for a given area and despise what geocaching.com offers. Can anybody refer me to a product that can meet my needs? Thank You for any help.
  9. Thank You for your quick responses. I went into GSAK and used the polygon feature to get exactly what I needed. What a great resource.
  10. I'm trying to load caches into GSAK for a new area I will be caching in but my PQ's are too big or small. If I use the radius method I get way to many caches that arn't accessable from my location. The problem is a large wilderness area. If I use the route tool it doesn't expand far enough. I have heard that you can use polygons to outline an area but can't seem to find it and will probably need help in how to do it. Could somebody please help me with this? Thank You, cosninocanines
  11. Found a $50 doller bill a few feet from a cache, the cache was not really near anything and the log hadn't been signed for over 3 weeks so don't know how it fell there. Dinner for the whole team on that one.
  12. Funny. I only see one cache of yours with this issue What you should do is communicate with your reviewer. Unfortunately that note you posted last week will not be seen by your reviewer until you enable the listing. Please read the 2nd paragraph of the note he posted to you. Thank You I have enabled the cache with some additional notes in hopes it can be approved. The other cache with the same problem I adopted last night. With the help of my reviewer and permission from the city to place the cache on their property I was able to successfully place the cache. GC3R2B7 HistoricAZ66:Flagstaff El Pueblo Motor Court The reviewer listened to all my points and gave me the guidance to complete the task.
  13. As a cache owner, this makes the most sense to me. But I realize that it's a personal thing and some people feel that they need to log a DNF if they step out of the car, hear thunder in the distance, get back in the car and drive home. As a finder if the last log is a DNF I will might skip it without reading the log (especially when travelling). There are plenty of other caches to hunt. I post a DNF if I actually looked for the cache and could not find it. Otherwise it's a note for things like muggles, ground to muddy to get to the cache, unable to open the cache (e.g. pvc pipes), creepy guy at the trailhead so I left, etc. X2
  14. Straps or bungee will work, if you want to use the eye bolt place it in a 2x4 camoed to match the tree and strap that to the tree.
  15. Keep it moving it will have another chance to get back to it's final later.

  17. I'm having a problem getting several cache sites approved due to their proximity to the BNSF railroad tracks. The cache sites are all on city property and I have permission from the city to place them. The scenario is this Historic Route 66 runs through our town, the city obtained right of way for a bike pedestrian path along the route. The railroad as in many towns parallels the road 100 to 300 feet from the roadway and path. Here is what the reviewer has to say "...may be owned by the city but that's not the issue here. The issue is distance. Your cache is well in the prohibited zone of 150 ft of active tracks". I can not find this 150 foot restriction anywhere and wonder why if it's a bike pedestrian path there is an issue. What should I do?
  18. Are you sure it's 138 feet, or was that a typo in your post? There's no reason why the system should reject a move of that distance. On the other hand, if the move is more than 528 feet, it will reject the change and you'll have to contact a reviewer to have the change made. 138 feet per google maps I will email geocaching.com folks and hope they can fix it. Thanks for replying
  19. Kidnapping the post I have tried all the suggestions and get an error message that the move is to far (138 feet) What is the next step to correcting the problem.
  20. I would like to place a photo on the cache page but I'm not having any luck. If it's possible can somebody please explain the process for me. What format does the photo need to be in? Can a link to "Photobucket" work? Thank You to all who respond!
  21. I did not read all the posts on this BUT Virtuals are our favorite cache types. When we travel the first thing I do is set up a route and then a PQ for virtuals. The only way to keep the fake logs out is to require something only available at the site. One other thing who cares about fakes there's no prise to gain and they have missed the real prise of "I was here". I still feel that doing away with virtuals was the biggest mistake ever made, Waymarking (I found a Burger King) has way to many catagories.
  22. So Groundspeak did we set a new record? I did find something but it was all greek to me!
  23. I'm looking for downloadable (to my Garmin etrex or Oregon 450) maps of New Zealand in particular South Island. Will be there April 1 so time is a litte bit of an issue. Thank You for any help on this!
  24. I just hope Groundspeak is doing something to help us out. The present maps are terrible and the topo is poor quality. Back in the day I would enter cache data on my topo program on my own. Very time consuming and only workable in my home state where I have USGS topos on my computer.
  25. My Oregon 450t runs through batteries like crazy, when I'm in the field it drives me crazy to carry all the extra batteries. What can I do to get the best service out of the batteries. What settings on my garmin oregon will help maximize battery life? Is there any way I can turn off or eliminate some of the "applications"?
